Broken Hearts and Crystal Tears

Chanyeol and Baekhyun rushed to the crime site as fast as they could.

Baekhyun cocked his head. "How do you know where Kai crashed?"

Chanyeol shrugged. “Uh...I guessed.”

Baekhyun saw his uncomfortable way of speaking, and decided to shut up. He got out of the car and aimed his flashlight around.

Chanyeol shone his flashlight into the woods. A loud crash echoed to their right.

Both boys spun around. “K-kai?” Baekhyun timidly asked. No answer.

Chanyeol furrowed his eyebrows. “We should go check it out.”

Baekhyun pointed towards the other direction. “I’ll j-just be over t-there...”

Chanyeol nodded. He ran towards the direction of the noise, crashing into branches and tripping over random rocks. Finally, he saw someone’s jacket peaking out of some leaves and twigs.

He walked closer, and saw a body on the ground that was covered with dry blood and flowing blood, scratches and bruises. He was almost unrecognizable, but Chanyeol immediately knew that it was one of his brothers.

~Chanyeol’s POV~
“JONGIN!” I shook Kai’s body, but there was no response. I felt for his pulse, and fortunately there was one. He must have passed out from lack of blood. I took out the bandage wrap that was in my pocket, and wrapped Kai’s head, arms, and legs.

Then I stood up, looking at Kai. I half wanted to leave him there, so that I wouldn’t feel like what I had the night the accident happened. But Minnie would be devastated if Kai was never found, and that would be even worse. He looked like he had been lying there since around the car crash, but I wasn’t so sure.

“BAEKHYUN! I FOUND JONGIN!”

“I’m coming!” I heard Baekhyun’s voice.

A few seconds later, Baekhyun appeared running toward me. Baekhyun wasn’t looking where he was going, and I suddenly saw him fall face first onto the ground.

I winced as I heard something crack.

“Baekhyun? Are you ok?” Silence. I didn’t know what to do. Two of my brothers were hurt, and I couldn’t take care of both of them myself.

I ran toward where I saw Baekhyun fall. He was lying on his stomach on the ground, and his leg was bent at an odd angle. I quickly took out my phone and almost screamed when I saw that there was no service. I walked around in a circle, raising my phone to try to at least get one bar. But there was no luck.

I sighed, then walked over to Kai’s body. I was about to kneel down and carry Kai, but his fragile body looked like it would break if I did something wrong. So instead I walked over to Baekhyun. I carried him in my arms. Luckily, his body was small and light, so I could easily carry him. He rolled his head to the side, groaning a little bit. I walked to where the car was, and although my arms started to ache after a while, I kept going.

I finally reached the car and put Baekhyun in the backseat. Suddenly, I felt my phone buzz. I pulled out my phone, and the caller was Minnie! The top of my phone displayed one bar for the data.

“Hi Minnie, you should come here quick! I found Kai, but Baekhyun is injured. I’ll call the other Exo members to get here as soon as possible.” I told her my location, then hung up and called Suho, and told him the exact same thing. I could hear Suho telling the other Exo members what I said, and all of them sighed in relief that we found Kai.

I sat in my car, keeping an eye on the spot where Kai was, waiting for the members.

A few minutes passed, and I heard yelling.

“CHANYEOL!?!? ”

14 figures came sprinting towards my direction at full speed, like they were running from a fire.

I yelled back. “I’M HERE!!! HELP!!!”

I got out of the car, then ran to greet them. Chen and Lay both got in the car and drove Baekhyun to the hospital. The others and I went over to Kai and bandaged him some more. Together, Kris and I lifted Kai carefully into another car.

When we were setting him in the back seat, I felt Kai stir. He didn’t open his eyes, but I could feel his breathing starting to get stronger.

Minnie pushed past me, and I let her. She cupped Kai’s face in her hands, tears streaming down her face. I wanted to hug her right there, and tell her that everything was fine, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.

Minnie sobbed loudly. “Please Kai, please don’t die. I need you, I love you.”

Summer walked forward and put an arm around Minnie. “He’ll be ok,” she said in a steady tone.

Minnie sniffed. “Ok, let’s go to the hospital. We need to get Kai and Baekhyun there as quickly as we can.”

Suddenly, she turned around and looked at me in the eye. “Thank you Chanyeol. For everything. I can not repay you with anything in the world.”

I nodded curtly, but I didn’t want to respond. Her tone clearly meant that she didn’t forgive me for almost killing Kai in the first place. I was also the reason she went to jail.

I got into the driver’s seat and drove to the hospital with Kai, Baekhyun, and Minnie in my car. Summer drove the big group van behind me.

As soon as we got to the hospital, Kai and Baekhyun were immediately put into separate rooms. Minnie stayed with Kai, while we all awkwardly sat outside in the lobby.

People stared at us from every direction. 15 celebrities in the hospital, bored. Summer soon fell asleep, with her head in Sehun’s lap. Sehun was absentmindedly stroking her hair, and my heart hurt just seeing them be so happy together. All the other 12 members of Exo and SUGAR sat around, pacing around, or just being unhappy in silence.

Finally, a nurse came out. “Jongin has almost a zero chance of living. If he lived, he would be a miracle. He would have to take years and years to recover.”

Kris spoke up. “But what about training?”

Suho snapped back. “Training isn’t important. The most important thing is to make sure that Kai is healthy and safe. And to make sure he doesn’t di...”

Suho didn’t finish his sentence, but everyone knew what he meant.

The nurse continued. “He is in a very deep coma right now, and will take days for him to wake up. Baekhyun, tho, is doing well. He only has a broken leg and a few cuts, and we got him cleaned up. He should be released tomorrow.”

I sighed in relief. At least one of my brothers were ok.

Suddenly, we heard a scream. “GUYS!!! KAI!!! HE’S-”
