~Minnie’s POV~
We arrived at the police station, and the police officers put me in a jail cell. I’ve seen movies and tv shows where people go to jail, but I never imagined I would actually experience it. There was a cot in the corner of the small room, and a drawer in the other corner. That was about it.

“Your manager will be informed that you are in jail right now,” said the police officer as he was about to leave.

“Wait! Um can you not call my manager? Instead can I make a phone call?”

“Fine, follow me.”

I followed the officer to his office, and I felt him watching me as I dialed Summer’s number.

“Hello? It’s Minnie. I’m in a bit of a complicated situation...Can you pick me up? I’m in jail...Thank you. I’ll explain later, or just ask Chanyeol to explain...Yes. Chanyeol. Bye!”

I hung up, and the officer led me once again to the jail cell. I lay in bed, but I couldn’t sleep. I still couldn’t quite grasp the fact that Kai was dead. I started crying, thinking about the memories I had with him. I cried myself to sleep.

The next day went by a blur. I paced around my room, not knowing what to do. Finally, a knock came at the door.

“Jung Min Rin, Kim Sung Chan is here to bail you out.”

I looked at the door as Summer peeked in hesitantly. The moment I saw her, my eyes filled with tears.

“Minnie! You’re okay! Oh my, what happened to you?” Summer looked shocked as she looked at my scratched body.

“I’m okay, I just want to get out of here as soon as possible.”

Summer nodded and led me by my hand through the door. She politely bowed to the guard and the police at the front desk, and dragged me to the door.

She got into her car, pulling me with her, and she took a deep breath.

“Ok, where do you want to go?”

I bit my lip. “Home would be fine.”

Summer stuck her keys into the ignition and start heading back to our dorms.

We drove in silence, and I did my best to keep my face emotionless. My head was still churning with the events of the past days, but for some random reason, I didn’t want to tell Summer about Kai, and luckily she didn’t ask me about what had happened.

We finally arrived at the dorms, and both Exo and SUGAR came running to me, blurting out random questions.

“Are you ok? Where were you? Where’s Kai?”

Where’s Kai?

I wanted to burst into tears right then, but my manager pushed everyone else away.

“Why are you so late? It’s 2 am. We’ve been worrying about you for the past few days. Where have you been?” I bowed my head at his strictness. He noticed the awkward ambiance, and he softened a little bit. “Sorry. I was just worried. But I’m glad you’re safe. Anyways, what happened?”

I gulped, dreading this question. “There was...an accident...”

I looked across the room, and my eyes fell on Chanyeol’s. An understanding immediately passed through our eyes, and he shook his head slightly, signalling that I shouldn’t tell.

“And...yah...an accident.”

My manager raised one eyebrow. “That’s all?”

I swallowed again. “Yup.” I shifted my feet uncomfortably.

Exo’s manager pushed through the crowd. “Wait, I have one question. So...where is Jongin? We know that you two were together last night.”

My breath hitched and I felt like my stomach was flipping inside out. “K-Kai... I’m afraid he didn’t quite...he wasn’t so fortunate.” I couldn’t hold it in anymore. Tears poured out of my eyes like faucets, and I hunched over. I couldn’t breathe; I was crying so hard.

“Is he d-dead?” asked D.O.

I continued crying, “I d-dont know. The police s-said he is, b-but I think h-he’s j-just lost,” my voice stuttered uncontrollably.

Summer, who stood next to me, wrapped her arms around me and patted my back. I sobbed into her shoulder. I could hear the other SUGAR and Exo members whispering, and I didn’t want to face them. “Can we go back to the dorms?” I asked quietly so only her and the other SUGAR members could hear.

“Sure.”

“Wait.”

Summer and I turned around.

Luhan looked at me. “Minnie.”

I looked at him.

“Please, Minnie. Tell us what happened. Please.”

“Let her have a break, Luhan hyung. She’s tired,” Chanyeol finally spoke up. His look was uneasy, and I could tell that he wanted to avoid the topic.

I sighed, but said, “No, it’s fine. Just not here, meet me in the SUGAR dorms in half an hour. I need to clean up first.”

I went up to my dorm, took a hot shower, and lay on my bed, not knowing what to do.

I heard a knock at my door.

“Come in.”

One by one, the Exo members filed in my room. Baekhyun and Chanyeol immediately sprawled out on the couches, and the other Exo members just sat wherever there was space. Sehun immediately went to the refrigerator, looking for bubble tea, but he couldn’t find any and just sat down on a chair. Luhan sat next to him, looking gloomily around. D.O. sat by himself, depressed and grieving. Kris and Tao shared a chair, both looking sad. Lay sat in the corner, looking even worse than he usually did. Suho sat in the middle of the room, acting like his normal leader self. Chen and Xiumin sat on the bed with Minnie. Finally, Summer came into the room, and sat right next to me, putting a protective arm around me.

Sehun smiled at Summer, and Summer smiled back at him. I felt a pain in my heart at the happy couple, and realized that I could never see Kai again. I sniffed loudly, and all attention was immediately diverted towards me.

I took several deep, shaky breaths and finally began. I told them how Kai and I went to eat at a fancy restaurant, and when we were going home, a drunk driver crashed into our limousine.

“A drunk driver? Do you know who he or she is?” Lay asked.

I quickly glanced at Chanyeol, then looked away. “Uh…”

Suddenly Chanyeol spoke. “The drunk driver was...uh…” He realized he spoke too much. He made an awkward gesture towards the bathroom, and quickly rushed in it.

Sehun raised an eyebrow. “What was that for?”

I shrugged, and continued talking. “A-and t-they say th-that Kai is d-dead, but I d-don’t believe th-them.” I started crying again. Summer hugged me tightly, and all of Exo shifted uncomfortably.

Suddenly, Min Tae, Hailey, and Yoomi burst into the bedroom. All of them, panting, quickly sat down.

Min Tae bowed her head down. “Sorry Minnie - please continue.”

I nodded, and continued in a stronger voice. “I think that he is still out there. I don’t know why I do, but I just know that he is out there. I want to go find him.”

“I’ll go.” Everyone turned their heads. Chanyeol stood there, with a determined look on his face. “I-I well, M-minnie helped me with a si-situation.”

Luhan stared. “A...situation?”

Chanyeol swallowed. “Yah, and I want to bring Baekhyun along with me.”

Baekhyun smiled. “Sure, I’ll go!”

I smiled. Exo was so supportive. They were all like my brothers, and I loved them for that.
