Broken Hearts and Crystal Tears

Sehun landed a few feet away from my feet, his arms and legs landing at an odd angle. His nose and hands were bleeding, and there were scratches and bruises on his legs. Summer checked his pulse and tried feeling for a heartbeat. But there was none.

Minnie and Kai stared from a distance in worry and fear. “I can’t feel a pulse,” Summer said without any emotion. Minnie couldn’t hold it back anymore. Tears flowed from her eyes as she stood there. She felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her body, and she turned her head to see Kai hugging her. She returned the hug, but only because she needed to be comforted.

Summer looked up from Sehun to see Kai hugging a crying Minnie. It seemed like this scene was repeating again and again, and once again, tears were building up. She swallowed, then asked, “Can someone help me carry Sehun to the car?”

The three of them carried Sehun’s limp body to the car, and Summer drove to the hospital as quickly as she could without crashing. Minnie rode Kai’s car, and Summer could feel a pang of jealousy when she looked over to his car.

Summer arrived to the hospital, and Sehun was rushed to a hospital room. No one was allowed in his room, so Summer stayed in the waiting room alone, while Minnie and Kai went back to the SM building. She sat in a chair, hugging her knees and sobbed. Sehun had done so much for her. He had comforted her, protected her, and defended her. And all she had done was cry, rant, and break his heart. And now, he was severely injured, perhaps even dying. But she could never repay him or ever give him the same feelings as he had given her.

All this time, she had been worrying about herself when right in front of her, she had been breaking the person that cared about her the most. I’m so sorry. I know life isn’t fair, and I’m so sorry for making it worse, she mouthed. Her only wish now was not for Kai to like her, but for Sehun to get better and not have to be heart broken.

~Kai’s POV~
Minnie had cried the whole drive to the hospital. She had cried when Sehun was rushed into one of the rooms. And she cried as we drove back to the SM building. I couldn’t bear watching her be so sad, but I accompanied her the whole time, always worried.

After we arrived at the SM building and told the others what happened, the SUGAR and Exo members, with us, arrived at the hospital. Minnie silently cried into my arms in the waiting room. I wanted to cry along with her because she looked so helpless, and Sehun is like my brother. To see him injured so greatly made me very worried, not to mention that we still have to train for our comeback.

All of us spent the night at the hospital, trying to sleep in the waiting room chairs. I stood up and paced back and forth, too anxious to sleep. At around five in the morning, we were all awake. Everyone had puffy red eyes and dark circles. Tao’s circles had become even darker, if possible.

A nurse came in the room, and came toward us. “Is Sehun ok?” “How long will he have to stay in the hospital? Is he alive? Can we see him?” We bombed questions at her.

“Quiet please. Sehun is severely injured, and he almost didn’t make it. If he came in 10 minutes later, he may have died. He is still in a coma, and will probably remain in a coma for a few more days. He will need to stay in the hospital for at least a month, then he can start singing, but he can’t dance for 2 more months after getting out of the hospital” the nurse said.

Everyone sighed in relief, even manager hyung. “Yay! Sehunnie will be ok!” Luhan shouted. Everyone cheered. “I guess we can only delay the comeback 1 month, and cancel all promotions for Sehun,” manager hyung said. We didn’t mind, since we were all very tired and could use a little more time for break and practice.

~After 2 days, Sehun’s POV~
I could only see black. I tried to breathe, but it felt like I was suffocating. My body ached all over. This must be what dying feels like. I tried opening my eyes, but every muscle hurt. Then suddenly, I couldn’t feel anything. My body became numb, and my life flashed before my eyes. My first day of school, how I was street casted for SM, my first crush, how after only the first day of training, I wanted to become a singer, how I debuted with Exo, winning the daesang award, all of the happiest moments and the hardships. I remembered meeting Summer and falling in love with her. Summer...Summer. I wanted to just relax, and die peacefully. But Summer. I loved her, and what if someone harmed her when I was dead? No. I must stay for Summer.

I struggled to stay alive, and my thoughts of Summer helped me. I weakly opened my eyes, and I saw the nurse run out the door to inform the people in the waiting room.

Soon after, I heard a scream, and Summer burst through the door. She jumped onto my bed, and nearly killed me with a hug, if the nurse hadn’t peeled her away. “Summer, Sehun still needs rest. Be gentle.” But even the nurse had a smile on her face. Summer wiped away tears and smiled at me.

I wanted to return an action, a smile, or just a small movement to show that I was here for her. But my body didn’t want to. My eyelids grew heavy, and I slipped back into sleep. The last thing I saw was Summer’s tired, but beautiful face looking at me from above.

~1 day later~
I lay in bed, awake. The Exo members all came in at once, shouting and cheering. “Sehunnie!!” “Yah! We were worried sick!” “I brought some of your favorite chocolate bubble tea!”

My eyes gleamed as I drank the bubble tea. But someone had to feed me the bubble tea, and if it was anyone else besides my Exo hyungs, I would be embarrassed to death. My energy was a lot better than yesterday, and now I could speak a little. “Thank you hyungs.” My voice came out cracky and raspy, but at least I could speak.
Exo cheered in response. “No problem Hunnie! Anything for you!” I smiled at their kindness. Kai coughed. Everyone turned towards him. “Guys, I didn’t tell you the complete story yet.” Kai started talking. “Sehun risked his life to save Minnie and I, and we owe our lives to him.” Exo gasped. Their maknae saved two people’s lives, while risking his own? “YAH! Our Sehunnie is turning into a man!” Baekhyun shouted.

“Not as manly as me!” Luhan said. “But then what happened?” Chen asked curiously.

“Minnie and I were stuck in a cable car at Namsan. We weren’t supposed to be there, and there was no one around that whole day because it was closed. It was already 11 pm, and Sehun and Summer finally got to Namsan. He climbed the pole to the cable cars!”

“You climbed the poles?!” “Wae! When did you become so brave?”

I started talking. “Aiya! Let Kai finish!” Kai shook his head. “No Sehun, you tell the story.” I smiled. “Ok, so then, I climbed the pole and I almost slipped, but I managed to climb up and rescue Kai and Minnie. But when I came down, my hands were so sweaty and I lost my grip and I fell. And now, here I am.”

“Sehunnie was trying to prove that he is a man! Yah so cute!” Tao said.

“I am NOT cute!!!!” I pouted.

“You were trying to prove that you were brave to a girl? Right?” It seemed like Suho could read my mind.

“Ani~ Well...maybe,” I said.

Kris smirked and asked, “It’s Summer, isn’t it?

I blushed and said, “Summer? What makes you think that?”

Kai laughed. “I can tell, Sehunnie. The way you look at her.”

Everyone shouted at once. “Oooooooooooh! Sehun’s in L-O-V-E!”

I was determined to get back at my hyung. “WELL Kai, how’s MINNIE doing?”

This time, it was Kai’s turn to blush. Exo shouted even louder. “Our two youngest members are in looooove!”

The Exo members parted happily, leaving Sehun to rest. Sehun fell asleep, thinking about Summer.

The moment he closed his eyes, Minnie softly snuck into the room.
