~Minnie’s POV~
I turned to walk away, then looked back once more, hitting my head with Summer’s. “Watch it!” she snapped, a death glare on her face.
I wiped my tears away and went to the dorm to clean up.
An hour later, Kai and I were at the cable cars. “Can we walk there? I’m scared of heights,” I said.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be there. Just don’t look down,” he said.
We stepped into the cable car and it slightly shook. We were the only ones in the car. The car slowly moved, and I forced myself to not look.
Suddenly, the car shook violently. I screamed and tripped sideways. Before I could hit the floor, Kai grabbed my arm and pulled me up. I was so scared and instinctively took Kai’s hand. His hands were large and warm, but I grasped them tightly, my knuckles turning white.
The car stopped shaking, but it didn’t move any further. We were stuck. Luckily the car hadn’t traveled very far from the departure building. I slowly glanced out the glass wall of the car, looking down. Below us was a forest of golden trees and behind us were the skyscrapers of Seoul. It was breathtaking, but then I noticed the distance we were from the ground and I freaked out.
I quickly turned around and almost started hyperventilating. I sat down, and Kai wrapped his arms around me, telling me to calm down in a soothing voice. “Shhh. You’re fine, calm down. You’ll be okay, I won’t let anything happen to you.”
I lay my head on his chest, taking deep breaths. In, out. In out. When I could finally stand again, Kai pressed the emergency button.
“We apologize, but your call has failed to reach the recipient. Please try again,” the monotone voice said.
Kai tried 5 more times, but there was the same response. We both tried using our phones to dial 1-1-9, but there was no service. “I’m scared. Are we going to stay in here forever?” I whimpered.
“No, of course not. We’ll get out of here by today. I promise,” Kai replied in a determined voice. Luckily we had 3 bottles of water and some snacks.
I sighed and closed my eyes, waiting for my slow death by boredom.
~Summer’s POV~
I saw her face when she was standing there watching Sehun and I. The same pain I felt was shown in her face too. I regretted my reaction to her bumping into me, but I was too hurt and full of guilt at that time to apologize.
It was already 10 at night, and she and Kai had still not returned. What could they be doing that’s taking them so long? I recalled her and Kai talking about going to Namsan tower. We were planning on going there together this weekend as best friends. It was even on our bucket list. But I guess she didn’t want to even speak to me.
I admit I was a little jealous, no--really jealous, that Minnie and Kai were going somewhere together. Despite our “conflict”, inside I was still worried about her. Where was she? I looked around, but I was the only person there.
Instead, I headed to Sehun’s dorm, because he was the one I trusted most after Minnie. I knocked on the door and he opened it. “Hi Summer, what are you doing here?”
“Can you please accompany me to Namsan tower?”
Sehun looked puzzled. “Why? But of course, yes. Just let me get my coat.”
“Kai and Minnie have been away for a long time, and I know I’m not in the best position with Minnie right now, but I’m really worried about her. I’m also worried about Kai…”
Sehun’s face darkened and he sighed, but he quickly put a mask over his expression and smiled. “Ok. Let’s go.”
At around 11 pm, we arrived at Namsan tower. I was shivering in my thin sweater and leggings, so Sehun put his jacket on my shoulders. I smiled, reminded of a few days ago when Kai did the same for me.
“Thank you Sehun.”
“Anything for you, Summer.”
Awkward silence.
“Ok where do you think Minnie is, Summer? And K-Kai?”
Suddenly we heard creaking, and it sounded like a wolf was using its claws to scratch metal. RIght after the creaking came a loud and shrill scream. I screamed too. I jumped into Sehun’s arms, and peeked around his shoulder.
I slowly looked up to the source of the scream. I could see a cable car shaking, and inside there were two people. I shined a flashlight, and squinted. It was...Minnie and Kai!!! What were they doing up there? Minnie is terrified of heights! She must have gone crazy, or else she wouldn’t have gone up there.
I pointed to the cable car and shouted “Kai and Minnie are stuck up there!” Sehun looked up to where I was pointing and shouted, “KAI! MINNIE! WE’RE HERE TO HELP YOU!”
I saw Kai frantically pushing at buttons on his phone. He made a confused sign at us from the window, explaining that his phone wouldn’t work.
“WHAT?!” I yelled. “Why can’t he call the police? Why isn’t there anyone here?”
“You don’t know? Namsan tower is closed today. Kai probably didn’t tell Minnie, so they snuck in. And I’m pretty sure I can rescue them myself.” I must show Summer that I’m brave and manly, Sehun thought.
I calmed down a little, and looked at him. He is pretty cute when he’s worried. I shook my head. No, what was I doing? We had to get Minnie and Kai down safely first.
After 15 minutes, none of the police would answer our frantic calls. Our only choice was to rescue them ourselves. Sehun took off his gloves, and judged the distance from the ground to Minnie and Kai’s cable car. His strong hands took a grip on the pole leading up to the cable car, and he began to climb.
~Sehun’s POV~
Midway, my hands began to slip. I gritted my teeth and hung onto the pole. I slid about 3 feet back down, and I would’ve fallen if I didn’t grip as hard as I could. I heard Summer scream from below, and I strained my whole body towards Minnie and Kai. It would mean everything to Summer if I saved her best friend and her crush.
Near the cable car, I was sweating, tired, shivering, and almost dead from the climb. I jumped onto the edge of the car, and with the three of us, Minnie, Kai, and I managed to pry open the door. The two of them slid down the pole back onto the ground, falling near the end, but thankfully safe. Minnie and Kai hugged and cried, and Summer kept her distance, glaring at Minnie every few seconds. Summer smiled up at me, and I returned her smile. I was about to slide off the pole to reach the ground again, when my foot slipped. A piece of the cable car chipped off, and in the silence, it hit the ground with a loud clunk. My foot slipped off the side of the car.
Summer looked up again, and she gasped. I almost fell off my foothold, but my hand hit the metal bar on top of me, and I hung on. I was about to use my other hand to support myself, but my balance tipped off.
Summer screamed on the top of her lungs, and my vision blacked out the moment I hit the ground.
~Summer’s POV~
Ugh, I hate how Kai looks at Minnie. I glared at Minnie every few seconds. Minnie and Kai just stood there and hugged, while Minnie wept into Kai’s shoulder. I looked up at Sehun, trying to avoid Minnie and Kai next to me. I smiled at Sehun, proud of his bravery and strength. Sehun smiled back at me, and got ready to slip down the pole. A piece of the cable car chipped off, and it hit the ground loudly. His foot slipped of the side of the car.
I gasped loudly. Sehun was hanging onto a metal bar, but he was weak from the climb and his hands were sweaty. Then so many things happened at once. It seemed like time was in slow motion. Sehun used his other hand to reach out for any hold to support himself, but his balance was off. He fell from the cable car all the way to the ground, and I screamed as hard as I could.

We’re pretty sure that about ½ of these Namsan Tower things would never happen in real life, and the structure of the cable cars would probably never allow this to happen, but just pretend for the feels. :D
