Gratefulness~ pt.1

I’m tapping the pencil against my desk.

The new psychology teacher seems to be very excited over an YouTube video about elephants’ behaviour and he is telling us how we should write an essay about the subject. I think she has some screws loose in her head. Every Wednesday she eats a 'Saturday'-candy bag to “break the laws peacefully” and to the walls she has hung up pictures of Indian gurus that are smoking every kind of pipes and flutes.
I sigh and fix the position of my earphones. I change a better playlist on. “Ahh, Big Bang, you understand me!” I think to myself and GD starts to rap inside of my head. His voice is just something so different and divine… I could listen to it always. Like, really, always.

I had found Big Band again only a few weeks ago. I used to listen to this boy group with my friend when I was younger but nowadays I haven’t been in contact with her anymore and the BB fandom also faded slowly.
But then one day I was recalling all kinds of legendary songs that I had liked at some time and I happened to found the music video of 'Haru Haru'. I remember how I tought it was so touching back then. I got interested and I watched through other Big Bang’s music videos as well. 'Fantastic Baby' suprised me because I liked it so much, and the rest of their music as well, even after all this time. Big Bang became my "new old favorite" and especially G-Dragon, along with Taeyang, stole my heart even though I hadn’t noticed him before. But he had changed so much since Haru Haru. Wow! So handsome, cool and stylish.

And now I had been spending my time listening to their new music, searching for pictures and videos about them, learning a little Korean, looking for facts about the members…
My bubble breaks when the sound of music switches to the sound of my phone’s ringtone. I should propably change that, I ponder as I pull off the earphones and stand up.

“Can I answer? My mom is calling. She may have something urgent to say”, I ask and give the teacher the 'Pepsodent-smile' even though I’m already walking trough the room.
“Yes! Go on!” the teacher replies and I shut the door after myself.
"Yeah?" I answer to the phone.
“Hey, I was just — Were you on a lesson?” mom asks.
“Yep, I was… What did you have?”
“Oh. I just needed to tell you that the masseur Pekka called and said that he had free time to take you in at one pm, so, you have to leave a little bit earlier.” I look at the clock. It’s twenty over eleven.
“Okay. So, you are coming to get me?”
“Yes, I will. I have an appointment so I need to drop home anyway and I can take you there quickly.”

At home I throw by bag in my room and enjoy the peace and harmony since my brothers are not home yet. Mom goes to the toilet and I reach for an apple from the table for a quick snack.
I see an envelope which has my name on it.
“By the way, there was some letter for you. I didn’t want to bother to find out what it was about…” mom shouts behind the door.
“Yeah, I noticed. And riiiight, you never read my mail”, I shout back and cough sarcastically.

I rotate the envelope in my hands and discover a little strange stamp with very small and unreadable text. Propably some kind of advertisement… Only, the envelope is very thin and light, so it can not have a thick pile of ads and all kinds of “Win a trip to China!” -lottery tickets (that never even work) inside. I open the envelope with my fingers and pull off a single piece of paper. It’s a letter. I start reading: in the upper corner it says YG Entertainment.

“What??” I cringe. Is this some kind of monthly news letter I have accidentally ordered or what is happening?

“Hello, Minea Vallila," Well, hello to you too.

“We hope you are having a great day and even if you aren't, we bet it’s about to get better!

At this point, my heart starts to beat ten times faster than it usually does. What the heck is going on…

"Yes, you! You have won the tickets to Big Bang’s closing concert in Hong Kong 27th December 2014.

We will pay your and also one of your friend’s flying tickets because we found out that you live so far away.

You are going to stay in a five (5) star hotel, Hotel ICON, where you will be having your own suite for the whole weekend and if you want to, we can give you extra nights in the suite with -50% discount off the real price. We have sent you an email and from there you can find more details about the accommodation.

Your flight is on 25th December 16:40 from Helsinki and you will have to stay in Bangkok from 07:25-19:10 — you can go shopping and get new clothes for the concert! We will take good care of you, so you wont’t get lost, don’t worry!

You will arrive in Hong Kong International Airport 22:50 (on Friday) and a limo will be wating for you outside. It will take you to the hotel.
The same limo will also pick you up the next day 16:30 when the concert starts 18:00. We have reserved you and your friend spots in the first row so you don’t need to worry about ending up in the back!

Ps. The limo idea was Daesung’s. He demanded it...

Well, my guess about the lottery tickets to China didn’t fall far from the tree…

"AAAAAAAAAAAAA!" that’s all I can react, I’m so shocked. I shout dazed and squeeze the letter against my chest. Mom comes off the toilet and gives me a weird look.
“Why are you acting like that?”
“I won tickets to Big Bang’s gig!” I shout cheerfully and hop around the spot I’m standing on.
“I will get a suite from a five star hotel and… And I will travel in a limo and I get to the first row and AAAAGH! I CAN’T HANDLE THIS!” I shout and scream like a crazy person. I almost split from happiness! It feels so unbelievable to win something so big so suddenly because this really means a lot to me! Maybe some older and loyal fan should have deserved it better than me… But I guess I love them as much as every fan does, I comfort myself.

Mom is knitting her brows.
“What? Big bang?”
I sigh.
“It’s the best boy band in the whole world!!! Aaw, how can I relax by the masseur now. I can’t!”
Mom utters a laughter.
“You have to since you finally get to go there. Let’s go!”
“Okay okay”, I say.
Adrenaline and other stuff are running through my body like crazy. I fold the letter and put it in my pocket. I spend the whole car ride reading it again and again and again.
When I get home, I’m going to check the e-mail and memorize every single information. It’s so soon! I’ll have to start getting ready right away!
