I'll be your light

“This can’t be happening.” Yukwon mutters as he runs into the park. Police cars, ambulance vans are parked near with their lights flashing and blinding him. “Melinda?” he calls as he approaches the commotion. There is a little crowd surrounding the area, but he pushes through them to get to the police. There is a woman sitting inside the ambulance van, she is sitting on the edge, her legs crossed under her. A blanket is wrapped around her and she is crying while a female police officer is telling her “It’s OK, It’s not your fault.” Yukwon sees a man with a small dog in his arms who is being questioned by a police officer. He feels panic spread to every inch of his mind. He rushes over to the police officer with the woman in the van. “What happened here?” he asks, scared. “This is none of your concern young man. Be on your way.” The female officer says sternly. “It is my business.” Yukwon says angrily. He turns to the crying woman. “Did you see a girl in a pink dress around here?” he asks nervously. The woman starts crying louder. “I’m sorry!” she wails. “I couldn’t save her! I’m sorry!” Yukwon’s knees buckle beneath him and he lands on the floor. “Sir, are you OK?” The female officer tries to lift him to his feet. “No I’m not Ok.” He mutters. “No I’m not OK!” he shouts. “My girlfriend was just kidnapped!” he screams. His muscles move on their own and he goes ballistic. He pushes the female officer off him and goes running towards the man with the dog. “Did you see it too?” Yukwon asks him as he grabs the man’s shirt and pulls him close. “Did you see that maniac kidnap my girlfriend too?” He doesn’t wait for a response and shoves the man away. Two police officers run towards Yukwon, “Calm down, young man.” They say over one another. Yukwon staggers away from them like a drunken man and trips over his own feet. He falls in front of a silver bracelet lying on the floor, broken silver bracelet. He shakily picks up the bracelet and puts it in his palm. ‘Melinda’ The plaque says. Yukwon clenches his fingers around the bracelet and holds it close to his chest. He crounches over and cries. “This is all my fault.” He sobs to himself. “This is all my fault.” The two police officers try to get Yukwon to stand up. “This is all my fault. This is all my fault.” “Sir, we need you to come with us.” A police officer says. “This is all my fault. It’s my fault you’re gone.”
