I'll be your light

“How should I do my hair?” Melinda sings to herself as she looks at herself in the mirror. She examines her face and lifts her hair for potential styles. The dress Yukwon got for her fit nicely and she thinks she looks nice in it. She decides she will loosely curl her hair with a curling iron. She finds a smile already on her face. She can’t wait to spend the Saturday night with Yukwon.

“I can’t.” Yukwon says angrily. “I have a date with Melinda.” Minhyuk rushes after Yukwon who is about to leave the base. “Please. You have to go.” Minhyuk begs. “Zico says that there always has to be at least four people. It’s my mum’s birthday today. Kyung is sick. And Jaehyo isn’t answering his phone, he’s probably drunk and sleeping with some woman. You have to go.” He says with pleading eyes. Yukwon sighs heavily. “Fine.” He grunts. Minhyuk thanks him and quickly leaves to drive to his mother’s house. Yukwon has no choice but to call Melinda and tell her he’s going to be a tad late.
“Hello?” she says.
“Hey, Melinda. Um- are you already at Seoul Park?” he asks.
“Uh-“
“I’m going to be a bit late. I’m sorry. Some uh, stuff, BLOCK B stuff came up.” He explains.
“Oh. Well that’s OK. You can come another time if – “
“No. I want it to be today. Don’t worry. I’ll be very quick. I’ll be there as soon as I can.” Yukwon assures.
“O-OK.” Melinda says uneasily. “I’ll be waiting.” She adds.
The corners of his mouth turn downwards as Melinda talks. “I’m sorry.” He finishes. He hangs up and goes to join Zico.

“Seoul Park.” Chanmin laughs wildly. He’s grateful that he called the number an hour in advance so he would hear the conversation. He grabs his coat and heads for Seoul Park, where Yukwon will eventually be. Before closing the door to his house, he pauses, rushes back inside and puts a taser in his pocket, just to be safe.

Chanmin wonders around the dark park illuminated by some streetlights. He sees a girl sitting on a bench by herself, gently kicking her legs. He peers closely at her face, his eyebrows raise and his eyes widen. He knows who this girl is. This is the girl who was with BLOCK B when his son was killed. His plan would finally come into action. He casually walks by Melinda, she does not look up to see who has walked pass. Instead she is inspecting the bracelet on her wrist. She smiles as she angles her wrist from side to side. For some unknown reason, she decides to flip the plaque which has her name on it, she softly gasps and smiles as she reads what is on the back of the plaque ‘is perfect’. Tears tingle in her eyes, but she holds them back. Suddenly, Chanmin grabs Melinda from behind, digging his nails into her shoulders. She cries out in pain and tries to wriggle out of his grasp. But the man pulls her over the bench so she is in an awkward position and cannot fight back. Melinda screams and cries for help. A jogger, a woman going out for a night run is sprinting across the park. “Shit.” Chanmin curses. As the jogger gets closer, Chanmin pushes Melinda to the side, she falls off the bench and her head hits the ground. Chanmin whips out the taser and fires. The metal prongs spring out onto the woman’s belly. She shakes violently and falls to the ground. Chanmin nervously looks around for any other witnesses before putting his taser back together. He grabs Melinda who is limp and hauls her over his shoulder. In her last effort before she is unconscious, she rips the bracelet off her wrist, the chain pieces fly everywhere, the plaque that she had just read falls to the floor. She can’t stay conscious much longer. She hears a man’s voice; “Hey! Stop!” She can just make out that he is a man with a small dog out on a walk, the man has a phone to his ear and he rushes over to the jogger paralysed on the ground. “Dammit.” The man says as he crouches down next to the poor woman. Next, everything turns black.
