I'll be your light

It is like a labyrinth back here. One alleyway led to multiple paths behind buildings. Yukwon has lost them. Tears began to make his eyes sting. He doesn’t know what hurts more; the pain in his back, or the pain in his heart. He wonders around the maze, he feels so hopeless. He sees something in one of the paths; one of Melinda’s high heels. This is it, this is a clue to where they are. He follows the path down to an intersection with three possible ways to go. He sees another high heel in the third lane so he bolts down there. Next he finds pieces of the cloth that kept her quiet. She’s ripping pieces off of it to lead him to where they are. The pieces lead him to a back door in an open alleyway. He swallows and grips the doorknob. He hears a familiar voice laugh hysterically. “Jihoo?” he asks himself. He walks to the end of the alleyway to see his friends who parked the van on the side of the road eating donuts being sold on the site of the street. “Oh! Yukwon.” Taeil says with a mouth full of dough. Yukwon doesn’t pay attention to them. He runs inside the van and snatches his clown mask up. He immediately runs back into the alleyway and puts it on, leaving his friends confused. “What’s happening?” Kyung asks. Everyone just shrugs their shoulders.

With the mask over his head and the gun in his hands, he cautiously walks up the stairs in hope to find Melinda. He reaches the first floor and encounters three guards. He uses his fighting skills to easily take them out. He needs to be careful about his use of bullets. He might need it more for later. He reaches the second floor of the building where he hears Melinda’s voice. Yukwon stays low and watches the scene. The man from earlier is slowly approaching her with a wicked smile on his face. Her skirt and top are torn and tattered from who knows what that awful man did. She is holding a chair between them, slowly backing away from the man. “Stay away.” She pleads shakily. Tears soak her face and her muscles twitch from anxiety. As the man keeps coming towards her, Melinda picks up the chair and swings it at him. “I said stay away!” she screams. She throws the chair at him and runs towards the stairs. “Oh crap.” Yukwon whispers. He jumps off the staircase, landing on the first floor. Melinda just finishes running down the stairs, relief floods her face, but not for long. The man is right behind her, taking three or four steps at a time. “You’re not getting away.” He laughs. He jumps at her, pushing her to the ground. She screams and her face hits the floor. The man is on top of her; he spins her around so she is facing him. “I told you you’re not getting away.” He sneers. Yukwon can’t take any more of this. “Freeze.” He says, stepping out of the shadows and pointing the gun at the man. He wonders why he said ‘freeze’ it makes him sound like a cop. The man slowly moves his head to face Yukwon, his eyes widen. “A BLOCK B member?” he says in disbelief. Melinda is shocked as well, could this day get any more terrifying for her? “That’s right. I’m a BLOCK B member, now step away from her or I’ll kill you right now.” Yukwon says. The man gets up on his knees and looks at the clown. “Backup!” he shouts. Yukwon pulls the trigger but the man dives out of the way. Melinda screams. “Shit.” Yukwon curses. He almost hit Melinda. “I’m sorry!” he calls. He spins around just in time to see a man running from behind, holding a knife. Yukwon puts the gun back into his belt and deals with the back up by hand. He ducks the first swipe and drags his leg across the floor, their legs collide making the man fall backwards. Yukwon takes the knife in the man’s hand and plunges it in his throat. In the corner of his eye, Yukwon can see Melinda trying to back away from the creep. ‘I need to get this over with.’ He thinks. The next man has a baseball bat gripped tightly in his hands, he swings the bat but Yukwon dodges, Yukwon looses his footing and is hit with another swing of the bat. It gets him across the back and he coughs and splutters. He quickly recovers and stands up, blocking the next hit, grabbing the other end and kicking the man in the gut. The man flies backwards, Yukwon flips the bat over the right way and smashes it into the guy’s head. He hears Melinda scream and sees her being dragged around the corner by the paedophile. ‘This is taking too much time.’ He takes out his gun and just shoots the five remaining guys dead. Yukwon runs, he turns the corner but immediately stops. The man has a gun pointed to Melinda’s temple. Every inch of her body over taken by fear of death. “Take off your mask.” The man demands Yukwon. “I said take off your mask or I’ll shoot her in the head!” the man screams. Yukwon sighs deeply and grabs the back of his mask. This isn’t how it played out in his mind.
