Semi Tones

Wayne Time

Three weeks later they had posted a cover video of them singing and dancing to Run Devil Run by GG on their YouTube account. “Done. Now we’ll wait for views boys.” Zayne leaned back into the black leather chair. “Cool. Let’s go, schools about to start.” Bayne playfully messed up Zayne’s hair. Wayne smiled and nodded. They quickly went up the stairs, skipping a few steps on the way, and grabbed their bags. They rode their bakes to Metronome to get some breakfast before making a mad dash to school. “Yes made it! Five minutes till first bell. Let’s go check out what class we have first.” Wayne said. “Gaja. We’re going to be late. Hurry.” Bayne nodded. They locked their bikes at the front of the school as fast as they could, and ran inside. “Room 209. I have room 209.” Bayne panted. “So do I. This is going to be a good year. I can feel it.” Wayne chuckled. Zayne continued to look for his name until he found it. “209. I’m stuck with you two for the rest of the semester.” Zayne coolly said. “Come on. Let’s go. We’ll get our lockers during class.” Bayne locked his arms with Waynes’ and Zaynes’ and headed to class.

“Here it is and just in time.” Bayne looked at the door number and entered with Wayne and Zayne right behind him. They sat down at the back row together as usual. “Hello class. I’m your English teacher, Mr. Crawford. I will now take attendance.” the teacher said in a monotone voice. Zayne sighed and looked out the window. Wayne was busy writing lyrics to notice Mr. Crawford standing right next to him. “Excuse me Mr. Kim. What are you doing?” Mr. Crawford asked. “I’m writing a song sir.” Wayne said not looking at him. “May I have a look Mr. Kim?” Mr. Crawford asked. “You won’t be able to understand it since its in Korean sir. I have no time to translate the song.” Wayne handed Mr. Crawford the papers. “Interesting Mr. Kim. What’s it called?” Mr. Crawford asked as he walked to the front of the class. “The one you are holding is a song called ‘Expectations’. It’s about a boy who expects a lot from a girl who he thinks he likes.” Wayne stood up from his place as he explained the song. “Sing it. In Korean.” Mr. Crawford requested. Wayne just stood in place, looking at the chalkboard and took a deep breath. He closed his eyes and sung a few bars in Korean for the class. All the girls looked at him awe and the boys scoffed and called him a show off. “That’s all I have. The part I just sang is actually meant for Zayne since he can hit the high notes a lot easier then I can.” Wayne opened his eyes and continued to look at the chalkboard. He sat down and tapped his middle finger on the wooden desk. “You are certainly very very interesting Mr. Kim. So are you Mr. Lee and Mr. Park.” Mr. Crawford’s monotone voice gave them a chill down their spine. “Thank you sir.” they said in unison. Mr. Crawford gave Wayne back the song. He resumed to the song, ignoring the class and the murmuring.
