My 24 Year Old Husband

Chapter 14: Luhan's Promise

~In The Car~

Luhan and Miyoung were in Luhan's car while his mother was in hers and the members were in theirs. Luhan kept glancing a Miyoung who was absorbed in looking at the unfamiliar city that she flew to. It never left Luhan's mind on how his wife mysteriously got to China without him seeing her.

"Bao." Miyoung tore her eyes away from the window and looked at Luhan with a smile.

"Yeah?"

"How did you get here?" He asked and looked at her for a couple of seconds. Miyoung sighed inwardly and looked ahead.

"Well, when you got the call about you coming here for he festival, I thought one thing, "I'm going to be so bored by myself." So I bought a ticket a day later without you knowing and packed right before you woke up this morning. I had your manager secretly get the suitcase before we left and bring it to me at the airport after you guys went to security check and wore a disguise just in case you would see me. And that was all my master plan." Miyoung smiled victoriously while Luhan just blinked. His beloved wife was able to do all these things without him knowing at all. He was amazed. He can't even sneak food past her.

"But didn't you hate flying? How could you get on the plane without freaking out?" Luhan asked curiously. Miyoung frowned as she remembered what happened on the plane.

~A Few Hours Ago~

"Miss, would you like a drink of water?" An flight attendance asked Miyoung who was gripping on to her seat tightly as she was taking deep breaths. She felt like she was going to throw up any second now. iyoung looked at the attendant.

"Yes please. And a doggie bag too please." The flight attendant smiled and nodded before getting the items. Miyoung never felt more sick than this before. She couldn't stop thinking that the plane would just suddenly have problems then...BOOM!

'Calm down Miyoung. If Luhan can do this then so can you. Just take some deep breaths. In and out, in and out. Oh My Gawd can this thing go any slower?! Wait a minute.....I don't feel so good." Miyoung felt something come up and slapped her hand over her mouth. She stood up and ran to the bathroom.

~End Of Flashback~

"Uh, I just took some sleeping pills and knocked out right when the plane left Korea." She lied. Luhan bought it and continued to focus on the road. Miyoung silently sighed and turned to the window and looked at all the buildings they were passing. She could understand some of the Chinese characters on the buildings as she was secretly taking Mandarin classes so she could communicate with Luhan's side of the family better. She was so absorbed in everything she almost didn't notice that they stopped in front of a bakery. She looked at Luhan who was taking off his seat belt.

"Why did we stop?" Luhan looked at her.

"My mom wanted me to get some things she ordered before we came to the house. I knew that if I forgot then she would've locked us out of the house until we got them. Besides, I want you to meet a family friend. Come on." Miyoung unbuckled her seat belt and grabbed her purse. Luhan opened the door for her like a gentleman and Miyoung stepped out.

"Xièxiè. (Thank You.)" Luhan smiled.

"You're learning Mandarin?" Miyoung smiled proudly and nodded. This made Luhan happy, knowing how his wife wants to speak his native language. He locked the car and intertwined his fingers with hers. They walked into the bakery and saw no one there.

"Nín hǎo? Rènhé rén zài zhèlǐ? (Hello? Anyone here?)" Luhan looked around. Miyoung just looked at the delicious pastries in front of her. She licked her lips, wanting to try all of them. A girl who looked a bit older than Miyoung ran to the counter.

"Nín hǎo! Duìbùqǐ, ràng nǐ jiǔ děngle. (Hello! Sorry to keep you waiting.)" The girl looked at them and gasped. Luhan and Miyoung looked confused on why she gasped.

"Lu-ge!" The girl exited the counter and ran to hug him, causing him to let go of Miyoung's hand. Miyoung swallowed hard she looked at the girl hug her husband right in front of her.

'Who is she?' Miyoung saw that Luhan was just as confused as she was. Luhan had no clue who this girl was. The mystery girl let him go and had sparkly eyes as she looked at him.

"Lu-ge. I can't believe it's you. I missed you all these years. You really grew into a handsome guy." Miyoung couldn't fully comprehend what she just had said but kept listening. On the other hand, Luhan kept trying to figure out who she was.

"I'm sorry but who are you?" The girl giggled and playfully slapped his arm. Miyoung took a deep breath, trying to think positive. She can't stand the girl already but she doesn't like to judge if she doesn't know the person.

"It's me. Sunday Cheng. We used to play together when we were little until I moved to America when we were in the second grade. Remember." Luhan thought for a minute.

~Flashback~

-Luhan at nine years old (korean age)-

"Promise you won't forget me." A little Sunday said as she was crying. Luhan had a few tears but wiped them off. He held one of Sunday's hands and looked at her.

"I promise. When we meet again, I'll make sure to marry you so we won't be apart ever again. Okay?" He held up his free hand with the pinky out. Sunday smiled and hooked hers to his, pressing their thumbs together.

~End Of Flashback~

"Ooohhhh. Now I remember you. You used to steal my chocolate bars too." Luhan said. Sunday giggled.

"I'm glad you remember. Hopefully you remember our promise as well." Luhan's face fell. Miyoung understood what she said and looked at Luhan.

'What promise?' Miyoung thought, not having a good feeling about this. Luhan shoved his hands in his jeans pockets as he looked at the smiling Sunday.

"Listen Sunday, that was a long time ago. We were kids back then. Time has passed and things have changed. People...have changed." He slowly said the last sentence as he looked at Miyoung who was a few feet away from them. Sunday looked at her too and frowned. She looked back at Luhan with hurt expression.

"But...you promised. I only took a job here, even though I don't need it, so that when you came back, it wouldn't be hard to find you. How could you? I didn't bother looking where you went when I came back a month ago because I thought I could trust you not being with other girls. But instead you came with some random girl. Who is she anyway? Your girlfriend?" Sunday was close to tears as her eyes were watering. Luhan sighed and walked over to Miyoung. He took her left hand and lifted it with his, showing their wedding rings.

"No, she's my wife. I'm sorry Sunday." Sunday stumbled back and had tears coming down her cheeks. She shook her head slowly.

"No, that can't be. You promised me. You promised we would get married!" Sunday ran out of the store. Miyoung didn't fully understand the situation and looked at Luhan.

"What was that about?" Luhan looked at Miyoung. He walked over to the counter and leaned his back on it. Miyoung followed him. Luhan explained the whole situation to her about Sunday and the whole promise thing. As he finished, he looked down.

"Of course she would e upset. That promise meant a lot to her. I feel bad." Luhan looked at her with disbelief in his face.

"Don't look at me like that. Psh, you wouldn't know how a girl would feel if she got her heart broken by the guy she loves. You guys should make up and try to be friends again." Miyoung said. Luhan sighed, he just couldn't believe how caring his wife could be towards people.

"I don't know bao. I kind of don't want to reconcile." Luhan confessed. Miyoung shook her head in disapproval.

"Shame on you. I didn't know I married such a heartless man. Aigoo, where did I go wrong?" Luhan groaned knowing she would continue nagging if he didn't agree with what she asked.

"Okay, okay. I'll try to talk to her while we're here. Happy?" Miyoung smiled victoriously and walked over to him. She leaned forward and pecked him on the lips.

"Yes."
