That Eye Smile!
Chapter 8
Your POV
I was frozen. His hands wrapped tightly around me. My legs started to feel like they we're jelly, but he held me up with his strong arms. When he finally pulls away for the kiss, I stare at him with wide eyes.
"Um.. are you okay??? You look like you've just seen a ghost" he says. I snap out of my trance.
"Huh??? Did you say something??"
He gives me an adorable eye smile,winks and walks back into the building just as the bell rings. When I get back into class, I take a desk near a large window and take out all my books and stationary for the lesson. I see Jr. walk into the classroom and I give him a wave and a big smile. Jr. just gives me a cold look and takes a seat next to a giant GOT7 fangirl, who squeals and giggles when she sees Jr. sit beside her.
What at was that?? Is he mad at me or something???
I feel a pang of sadness after a few minutes because there were no funny jokes and pranks from Jr., the guys how would always want to sit next to me and make me laugh in every single class.
"You ok ______??" Youngjae asks.
"Yeh..... why do you ask??" I reply.
" Because you keep on glancing at Jr. and Mark and then you repeatedly bang for your head on the desk and the cycle starts again. Glancing and banging, glancing and banging" he says, laughing.
I laugh, " We should talk more often, Youngjae, I really like talking to you".
"Yeh... We should. I've just been shy around you, that's all".
I laugh and the bell rings, signalling the end of class.
I walk out of the class and see Jr. ahead of me, leaning on a few lockers and talking to a few girls.
So, much for being my boyfriend .
I walk up to him and drag him by the collar away from the adoring girls.
"Ouch! That hurts!!!!" He yells at me.
" Why are you not talking to me and instead giving me looks like you absolutely hate me???" I ask him.
" You really don't know??" He says, quietly.
" Yes... So tell me what's wrong"
"I saw you and Mark kissing...." He says, quietly.
My eyes widen and I feel a plain guilty because Jr. saw and plus, Jr. was my boyfriend!!
" It meant nothing, Jr., I suddenly turned around and he kissed me, that's all!" I say.
" Well, why didn't you push him away???"
"Because I was shocked!" I yell at him.
" Just forget it, I gotta go...' He says sadly and leaves.
I don't think that I have a boyfriend anymore. What am I doing to do??? I think....I like 2 guys. OMG. This decision is so tough!!! I ruffle my hair in frustration.
I decide to talk to Youngjae about it. I need to find him first, so I wonder around the school hoping to find Youngjae. I suddenly see his back through a sea of students.
" Youngjae!!!" I yell loud enough so he could hear. He turns around instantly, spots me and gives me a cute smile. He walks toward me and instead of struggling to push through the crowd like I do, the crowd separates a path for him. I sigh.
The perks of being a KPOP idol....
" What's up?"
" I need your advice"
"Advice?"
"Yeh.....You don't need to help me if you don't want to..." I say.
"Don't worry, I"ll help you, so you wanna go somewhere quiet??" He asks
"Yeh....Poppy & Seed??"
"Yep, let's go!" He says.
When we finally get to Poppy & Seed, we take a seat in the corner of the cafe. After we had ordered enough food to feed at least 10 people, we start talking.
"So..what's wrong??" He asks, sincerely worried.
I start telling him the whole story, from Jr. being my boyfriend to Mark kissing me and then to the chat with Jr. that didn't end too well.
"Woah woah woah...slow down ______!" Youngjae says laughing.
Then all of a sudden Youngjae's phone rings. Peeking at the screen, he takes a deep breath before answering. "Yo.....yeah.....yeah..." He focuses on my eyes, which are full of hurt and sadness. "She's okay...we're at Poppy & Seed....yeah.....bye"
" You did not just tell him where we are..." I say.
" You need to talk to him." Youngjae picks up the check and goes to the cash register, then comes back and drops several dollars on the table.
"Mark's gonna come pick you up. And I shouldn't be here" he says. Youngjae pats my back one last time and leaves.
I hop into Mark's car and he drives. I have no idea where we are going. In silence, he winds alongside stacks of hay and beneath tree branches that hang over the back roads. Which one of us is going to speak first?
I know he saw something wasn't quite right in my eyes when he first pulled up, but he chose to focus on a Dumpster instead. It's bad if a guy that kissed you would rather look at a dumpster than at you.
Finally, Marks parks out up by the Yuji river, and we get out and walk towards the dam. How that it's September, the weather is turning cooler. I like it. I can smell the leaves- they'll change colour soon. I want to rid of this tension, so. I run down along the banks of the river, heading no where. I expect Mark to jog after me, to race me, but he just keeps walking slowly.
I run for 5 minutes and take a seat on a fallen log. I look down into the shallow water at the tiny fish and tadpoles swimming around.
Now I'm wishing none of this had ever happened in the first place. I don't know what's going to happen next but it can't be good.
Mark finally sits down next to me on the log, but we don't touch
"_______???" He says.
"Yeah?"
He picks up a small, flat rock, then stands up and skips it twice across the surface of the water. What a poor showing- I can skip a rock more then 2 times. I dig around next to the log and find a heavy, flat stone, dimpled with grooves and peppered with black specks. I stand up and skip it three times. I rule...
"_______???" He says again.
"Yeah???"
"How are you???" He mutters.
