Cupid on The Sidelines

How Ridiculous

"Yoohyun." It seemed like a groan, but to this happy-go-lucky girl, it's just her tired best friend calling out to her, like usual. "Yes?" She sweetly responded as she continued to skip happily, dragging her along the corridors to the canteen. "I have legs." The answer was blunt, precise, and simple. Hyesun stood up straight, making her friend bend a bit awkwardly as she slipped her hand from hers, stretching it a bit. She dusted her uniform which seemed wrinkled from all the running she went through earlier.
The aroma of sauteed vegetables greeted them as they entered the canteen. "Well, I ain't eating," Hyesun stated as she stared at the board with the food prepared for today. It was all vegetables, which she really doesn't like too much. "Oh come on, it's good for your skin," Yoohyun insisted as she shook her friend lightly, afterwards, grabbed her arm and walked towards the short line. It honestly seems like no one bothered to fall in line. Well, most of them hate veggies, which is currently the only thing being served. Yoohyun had a huge smile plastered on her face as she fell in line along with Hyesun who doesn't seem amused, but for the sake of her best friend, did so.
At the table where only the two of them occupied, Yoohyun was in a daze, staring at someone who was eating at the table in front of theirs. Hyesun snapped a finger in front of her, trying to get her out of her trance. She waved her hand in font of her friend's eyes, but nothing. After a while of doing that again, Yoohyun pushed her hand to the side. "Don't block my view," she demanded as her eyes almost bulging out at staring towards the other table. Hyesun turned her head, and laughed mockingly. "Smiling like crazy in line, now in a stupid trance because of Youngmin. Damn, you're weird." She stated as she poked her fork at her salad with her head resting on her right hand. Instead of looking mad, a wide smile was once again on Yoohyun's face as she got closer to her best friend. "Hyesun, can you set Youngmin oppa and I on a date?" She asked directly. She wasn't surprised for what her best friend was asking, but she cannot do it. All she does is matchmaking, not propping people out for dates just because the other party wants it. "I'm not a miracle worker, you know," she answered as she took out a pack of rice cakes out of her backpack. "Want some?" She asked as she opened the pack and took one rice cake. "No, thanks," Yoohyun answered as she disappointedly tapped her fingers on the table, acting lonely. "Look, I'm a matchmaker. I'm the one who pairs people up. It's all on interests, got it?" She explained between bites. "Interests?" Yoohyun's color brightened up as she straightened her posture once again, looking livelier. "So you'll only pair us up if we match?" She asked, her eyes almost bulging out in excitement. "Something like that," she answered with her mouth filled with rice cake as she chewed onto it. She wasn't very lady like, after all. Manners? It doesn't matters. "So... I, Kim Yoohyun is ordering you, Jung Hyesun, to find out what he likes!" She exclaimed silently as she pointed her index finger towards her friend. "So, will you do it?" She asked cheekily. "Yeah~ yeah. Just let me eat in peace," She answered, munching on her food. "Yey!" She cheered as she hugged Hyesun tightly. "Uh. Yoo- Yoohyun, you're damn killing me," she said as if she were suffocating or choking, but choking may be close to it, for she almost was. Yoohyun returned to her seat as she ate her salad happily. Perhaps she was expecting too much, but she really had faith in her best friend which was undeniably strong. And in addition to that, she knows how influencial Hyesun could be towards other people. She has that very friendly aura which anyone would like and open up to, and perhaps Youngmin would be one of them. Maybe he'd open up to Hyesun on his interests, the kind of girl he likes, and other things which might shape Yoohyun up to be his ideal type, or more. A mutual feeling, perhaps? Anyway, she got Hyesun to agree on that which takes her a step closer. "I will be Jo Youngmin's girlfriend," she squealed in her thoughts, but her physical act seemed to show it as well, just in a very mute way. She stopped to see some of Youngmin's friends who seem to laugh at her. Or maybe she was just too assuming, but there was honestly no doubt. "Well, I better get to work, see ya." Hyesun stated as she took her tray of food she didn't really eat along with the wrapper from the pack of rice cakes.
