Leo came to my house earlier than I had expected, four hours earlier to be exact. “I’m so sorry.” He said breathless. “There has been a change of plans. We’re going out for the weekend.” He smiled widely.
“What?” I asked.
He walked in and greeted my parents and sister.
“May I have Melinda for the weekend?” Leo asked politely.
My mother and father exchanged a glace. With a shake of his head, my dad said no, but at the same time, my mum bore her teeth and said yes. They then turned to each other, shocked.
“Just let them be, dear.” My mum said lightly.
“Not for the weekend.” My dad said with a shake of his head.
“Leo is a responsible man, he can take care of our daughter.”
“That is the problem; Leo is a man. Our daughter is a child. I will not allow this.”
“Honey, don’t be like this.” My mum whined. “Let the kids have some fun.”
“No.”
While my mum tried to persuade my dad, Leo leaned over and whispered in my ear. He told me to bring a backpack and fill it with clothes for two days and some swimwear. I did what he asked. When I came out of my room because I had finished packing, Leo and my dad were missing. “Where are Leo and dad?” I asked my mum.
“They’re having some man-to-man talk.” My mum said with a giggle.
Leo and my dad finally came back inside, my dad asked me if I really wanted to go.
“Yes I do.” I replied.
He sighed in defeat. “She’s all yours.” He said to Leo. My face lit up. Did Leo just persuade my dad? This was awesome. I said goodbye to my family and Leo took me to his car.
“What did you say to my dad?” I asked curiously.
“Are you excited for the weekend?” Leo asked, ignoring my question.
“Yeah, I am. What did you and my dad talk about?”
“You’ll never be able to guess where I’m taking you.” He chuckled. We drove in the car for one hour until we got to our destination.

“What…?” I said in awe. Leo had a massive smile on his face when she showed me the ship we were getting on.
“What is this?” I asked.
“We’re going on a mini cruise.” He said happily.
“This isn’t mini at all, this ship is massive!”
“We’re only going for the weekend so it is pretty mini.” He laughed.
We boarded the ship and Leo handed the security guard two tickets. “Jeesun gave me the tickets. She won them in a martial arts tournament but she didn’t have anyone to go with and she has Jinho to look after.” Leo explained. We set our bags down in our room and I froze. There was a double bed in our room. Only one double bed. Leo picked up a booklet that was sitting on the bedside table. “Let’s see what’s on for today…” he said. “Comedy show at 5:00pm. Dinner at 6:00pm, Action movie screening at 8:00pm.” He read. He turned a couple pages and read about the recreational activities. “Chess tournaments, karaoke, pottery making, swimming pool with water slide, massage, pool tournaments, dance sessions, bracelet making, indoor sports (netball, volleyball, soccer, badminton, basketball), talent show (held on last day) and many more fun activities suitable for all ages.” I checked the time on my phone; 1:45pm. “What do you want to do?” Leo asked me. I shrugged my shoulders. “Let’s get a massage.” Leo said with a light laugh.

Of course I was uncomfortable. I had to undress and somehow lie down without flashing my bits to everyone. I felt my muscles relax as the woman rubbed warm oil onto my back. At first I was jumpy at the thought of a stranger rubbing oil onto my back, but then I got used to it. The oils smelled wonderful, like I was in a field full of flowers. The massage took an hour of our time, when we were finished, Leo and I were fully relaxed. All the tension in my back and shoulders were gone. We went back into our room and decided to rest and relax before the comedy show. I went to have a shower to wash all of the oils off my back. Leo complained that I take long showers. “That’s because I have long hair to wash and blowdry.” I poked my tongue out at him. “You also took all the hot water.” Leo joked. Now Leo was going to have a shower. I don’t know when, but I fell asleep. I realized when I woke up with Leo reading a book next to me. “We missed the comedy show.” Leo said, not taking his eyes off his book. “What?” I asked. I grabbed my phone and checked the time; 5:36pm. “Why didn’t you wake me?” I asked with a pout. Leo just shrugged his shoulders. I laid back down. “Don’t go back to sleep, Melinda. We have dinner soon.” Leo warned. “Just wake me up.” I sighed.

Dinner was just absolutely amazing. The food was just too fancy and expensive for me. I realized how any people had come on this cruise. No wonder this ship was so big. Leo and I sat on a table for two and the whole time I was just looking at how charming he looked while he ate. I know it sounds creepy, but it’s hard to keep your eyes off him. After dinner, we went to watch the action movie in the theater. It was just like a normal cinema. I would glance over at Leo once in a while and see him resting with his eyes clothes, when the sound effects boomed in the speakers he would wake with a jolt. It was cute. He was cute.

9:30pm was the time I was dreading. It was time for bed and there was only one bed in our room. My palms would sweat when we walked down the corridor together to get to our room. I decided that we brush our teeth and wash up separately because I didn’t want to embarrass myself. I went in the bathroom after Leo. The whole time brushing my teeth, I was just thinking about how I would avoid any awkwardness when sleeping. I changed into pajamas and shakily made my way to the bed. Leo was already sleeping, or at least I thought he was. He slept on his side with his back towards me. I slowly crept under the sheets and positioned myself so that my back was towards him. I really didn’t want to make any awkward eye contact when I wake up.
