A Matter of the Heart

Chapter Three

(Jinyoung’s POV)

The next morning, Jinyoung woke up with a bad hangover. Groaning, he turned over…and paused. He was naked in Dongwoo’s bed. Had he slept with his friend without realizing it? He certainly didn’t remember anything like that happening last night. In fact, he didn’t really remember much from the night before at all. All he knew right now was that he needed to get home and never mention this…incident. It might be very awkward and embarrassing for his friend. Jumping out of the bed, he got dressed as quickly as possible. He would worry about a shower when he got back to his own house.

When he got back home, he heard voices. Opening the door, he walked through the house until he found Gongchan and his new “friend” Baro in the kitchen, trying to cook something to eat. He smiled at them. “Good morning,” he greeted them quietly and sat down on one of the chairs. He hissed at the pain in his backside. Yeah…he had definitely done something with SOMEONE. He really hoped it wasn’t Dongwoo, but he was pretty sure it was.

Gongchan turned to him, chewing a mouthful of food. “Good morning, hyung.” He spoke with his mouth full. He swallowed the food. “We’re making kimchi and egg burritos.” He grinned. “It’s an experiment. He shared a look with Baro. Kimchi probably wasn’t the only thing experimented with last night.

Jinyoung looked at the…um…food suspiciously. “Um, I need to go take a shower, but maybe I’ll try some when I get out.” He grinned at his roommate. “Let me know how it is, okay.” Turning to Baro, he smirked. “Let me know if it’s something that should be eaten at all. I’ll see you guys in a minute.” He walked and into his bedroom, grabbed some fresh clothes and walked into the bathroom.

As the water was running over his body, he let his thoughts run free. He wasn’t sure how he felt about Dongwoo as anything more than a friend, but he was curious about his friend, Sandeul. He was very cute and Jinyoung would have liked for last night to have been with him and no alcohol. He wondered how he could get his number, without upsetting Dongwoo. He wasn’t sure how his friend would feel about it, since they were good friends. Dongwoo may be one of those friends who didn’t want Sandeul to be with Jinyoung. It may be a line he wouldn’t want to cross. Then again, it may be worth it, if Sandeul was nice. He would ask Dongwoo…in a few days when the awkwardness of having sex with him wore off.

Stepping out of the shower, he dried off and got dressed quickly. Going back into the kitchen, he saw that Gongchan and Baro were already eating and talking about the food. Sitting down, he inspected the burrito. It looked interesting with the kimchi bright but watery mixed with the eggs. It also had peppers in it, and when he bit into it, he felt the heat immediately. After getting past the initial shock of the hotness of the peppers, he noticed that the burrito was actually very good. He smiled at Gongchan and Baro. “It’s good. Nice experiment. You guys should do this more often.” He glanced at Baro. “Are you planning on sticking around, now that you can…um…cook together?”

Baro laughed, taking a drink of his coffee, smiling at Gongchan. “I do plan on sticking around. Maybe this can turn into something beyond last night. It definitely wasn’t just a one night stand for me. I hope Gongchan feels the same way.”

Gongchan kissed him lightly. “Well, I also hope for this to go to something deeper than just physical. I guess we’ll see.”

Jinyoung smiled at them. “Good. I’m going to take off, but I’ll see you guys later. Thank you for breakfast.” He grabbed his jacket and put it on. He needed to get out and think about last night and what it could do to their friendship. Walking into an entertainment store, he began browsing. When he was walking through the isles, he smiled when he saw Sandeul looking through the comic books. He “accidentally” bumped into him, then apologized.

Sandeul turned around, looking surprised. “It’s okay. I’M sorry,” he smiled at Jinyoung, studying him. “Do I know you from somewhere?” He cocked his head to the side, looking very cute.

Jinyoung smiled at him, looking shy now. “Yeah. We met at a party the other night. We didn’t really talk that much. Sorry.” He stared for a moment, then laughed, feeling like an idiot for getting caught up in the younger man’s hotness. “I’m Jinyoung,” he shook his hand. “Nice to meet you.”

Sandeul snickered at him. “I don’t remember us meeting, but I’m Sandeul.” He grabbed a few comics, then turned back to Jinyoung. “It’s nice to meet you…again. I need to go, though. See you later.”

Jinyoung smiled at him, wanting to ask him for his phone number. “It’s nice to meet you. Have a good day. I’ll see you around.”

“Yeah, maybe,” Sandeul smiled. “See ya.” He walked over to the checkout line and Jinyoung walked back to the books. He was happy to have had the chance to talk to Sandeul. He hadn’t thought he would see him, but he had been pleasantly surprised. Walking to the checkout, he bought his books and walked out to his car. He needed to go study and get his mind off of Sandeul.

(Dongwoo’s POV)

Dongwoo sent Sandeul a text that afternoon, hoping he would get a reply. He got one about twenty minutes later, and his friend asked him to come over. Driving over, he was invited in right away.

Sandeul looked skeptical. “So, what’s up? This is obviously something serious.” He offered a small smile, looking insecure.

Dongwoo sighed. “Yeah, I wanted to talk to you about…recently. You seem different. What’s going on?”

Sandeul studied him for a moment, then shook his head and walked to the kitchen. Reaching in the fridge, he grabbed a beer. “Nothing’s going on.” He pursed his lips, starting to open the beer.

Dongwoo grabbed it from him, setting it on the table. He looked Sandeul in the eye “That’s your problem. It’s that simple.”

Sandeul glared at him. “What the hell? You think I’m a drunk…Well, maybe I am. I can’t deal with some things. Issues.” He looked at Dongwoo, still appearing angry. “But wait a minute. You try to preach at me for drinking. Well, sometimes things are too much to handle. You know how it is, unless you have a perfect life.” He stuck his finger in Dongwoo’s face. “You think you’re so perfect? That you can get whomever you want and your family doesn’t care. You know how my parents are…and yet you still judge me. Fuck off.”

Dongwoo sighed, taking Sandeul’s hand. The younger man immediately ripped it away, so he backed off. “I’m sorry.”

“You should be.” Sandeul answered coldly, and they were both awkward with the silence that followed. He finally sighed. “Dongwoo, you know that my parents don’t like it that I’m not attracted to women. They think I need to be attracted to the gender they want me to.” He paused for a moment. “I just don’t know what to do. They’ll never be happy with me and on top of that, I can’t find someone that I am interested in that returns it. It was an easy set up with Gongchan and Baro. Also, you want Jinyoung. That could turn into something." He frowned. "I’m just the cute one…”

Dongwoo smiled at him gently. “I’m sorry for jumping to conclusions. I should be acting like more of a friend. Can you forgive me?” He gave Sandeul a pouty face.

Sandeul hugged him. “Yeah, I forgive you.” He walked into the living room. “Want to play video games?” he grinned, and Dongwoo was happy to see that expression again.

“Sure.” Dongwoo grabbed a controller, and they started playing. He was still thinking about what he was going to say to Jinyoung. He could still imagine the night before, when he hadn’t been nearly as drunk as his friend. It had been like a dream come true and he only wished that Jinyoung had remembered it.
