A Matter of the Heart

Chapter Two

(Sandeul's POV)

The next morning, Sandeul woke up to his phone blaring Block B's "Very Good" beside his head. "Fucking hell!" He grumbled, throwing his phone across the room. He had forgotten to turn it down...or OFF. With all the alcohol he had consumed the night before, he would prefer OFF right now. Covering his head with his pillow, he tried to go back to sleep. That was when his worries about if it was a family member that REALLY needed to get a hold of him or a friend that just couldn't wait for the hangover to be gone and text later. If it were the latter, he could leave it. They could go jump off a cliff right now. He began to drift off again, when his phone went started blaring again.
Growling, he got out of his bed and walked over to pick up his stupid phone. Glaring at it, he cursed again when he saw that it was from Gongchan. All he wanted was Baro's number. Why didn't he think of getting it himself when he was flirting up a storm? Punching in the numbers, he didn't bother saying anything else in the text. Gongchan may not understand that he had stayed up drinking away his pain after the party he had been dragged to. He was just in a sour mood because someone else wanted the person HE wanted.

He stumbled into the bathroom and turned on the shower. He would hopefully feel better after he got cleaned up from his drunkenness last night. He felt better afterward, physically and mentally. Grabbing his phone, he texted Gongchan and asked him if he wanted to go out on a date with Baro. He could easily set that up. However, when Gongchan replied, his mood began to slip again. The younger man had suggested going on a double date with Jinyoung and Dongwoo…and maybe finding someone for Sandeul, too. He was sad that Gongchan had picked up on Dongwoo’s crush on Jinyoung, so told him that they might want to go out with himself and Baro, as FRIENDS. He would do all he could to keep them in the friend zone, where Jinyoung obviously wanted to be, anyway. It was just his sweet Dongwoo that wanted Jinyoung and had for quite some time now.

Getting dressed, he grabbed his backpack and a granola bar on his way out the door. He would be late for class…again.

(Dongwoo’s POV)

Dongwoo looked at the shelves in the store. He desperately needed groceries and was sad that Jinyoung couldn’t go with him. He was shopping all by himself, but it gave him time to think about this situation with Jinyoung and Sandeul. They didn’t seem to get along last night, as he had been hoping they would. He had thought that Sandeul would be Jinyoung’s type, but Sandeul had taken off before really hanging out with them. He wasn’t acting like himself last night and it was a bit disturbing and irritating.

Finishing with his shopping, he wheeled the cart to the checkout. Smiling at the cashier, he sighed. “So, how is your morning going? Mine is going well.”

She grinned at him. “Good, so far. Thank you for asking.”

He nodded, taking his bags. “Have a nice day, young lady.” He hoped he hadn’t sounded too pervy, since she was probably a lot younger than him.

“Thanks. You, too,” she smiled back at him as he was walking out. He was happy to be able to brighten someone else’s day.

When he got home and refilled his empty fridge and cabinets. He had bought alcohol that was probably going to be cleared out in a matter of time with Sandeul’s state of mind. He needed to cheer his depressed friend up somehow, even though he didn’t know what was really bothering him. He wasn’t the type to open up easily. That bothered Dongwoo, because he knew that his friend hadn’t been having fun last night at the party. He sent his dongsaeng a text, but knew his friend was in class and wouldn’t get it until later. He did notice a text from Jinyoung, telling him that Gongchan thought it would be a good idea to go out that night to make Gongchan and Baro feel more comfortable with one another. He agreed to it, telling him he should set Sandeul up with someone so he could go and not feel like a third…or fifth…wheel. Jinyoung replied with “Who’s Sandeul?” He obviously didn’t remember him from the night before. Dongwoo laughed to himself. And here he thought SANDEUL was the one with the alcohol problem.

That evening, Jinyoung agreed to go with Dongwoo as spying hyungs to Gongchan and Baro. The two younger seemed to be getting along well, talking and hanging out. They were becoming very comfortable with each other when Dongwoo got a text from Sandeul, telling him he wouldn’t be able to join them. He had too much to do…meaning he didn’t want to go out and have fun. He was also obviously throwing another lonely pity party.

“You know, I think we should take this to Sandeul’s house. He needs some company,” Dongwoo smiled at Jinyoung. “Also, you thought he was cute, right?”

“Sure. We can go,” Jinyoung grinned back. “And yeah, I think he’s cute…for a drunk. He has WAY too many issues for me. Besides, I told you I’m not looking for anything right now.” He gave Dongwoo a pointed look.

“Yeah,” Dongwoo replied, suddenly quiet. “I just thought…”

“That we would be a good match,” Jinyoung finished for him. “Maybe you’re right, but I already got screwed over. If I’m looking for ANYTHING right now, it would just be a hot guy in my bed to cheer me up, not a depressed friend of yours that would rather be drinking.”

Dongwoo sighed, putting his drink down. “Here, how about we leave these two and go to the mall? We can go back home from there.”

Jinyoung was thrown off by the change of subject. “Um…okay. That sounds good.” He walked over to Gongchan and Baro, telling them they were leaving them for a while.

Gongchan grinned at him. “Okay.

They left the two younger that would rather be alone, anyway, driving to the mall. After wandering around for a while, they went back to Dongwoo's place. That was when they broke into the bottle of wine that Dongwoo had purchased that morning. They drank and played a game. The game became VERY interesting, once they were both buzzed. It was turning out bad, and neither of them won.

Sitting on the couch watching tv, Dongwoo leaned over and kissed Jinyoung lightly. Things went from there when Jinyoung began kissing him back. Dongwoo pulled his friend into his bedroom, kissing him until both of them were naked and, needless to say, they took things MUCH further than that.

They were now WAY out of the friend zone, even though neither of them would remember it.
