The War Between Worlds
The Book
The next day was Saturday, so we hung out at my house. I was very happy that we wouldn't have to see the tormentors for a few days, and that would give Daeil time to heal up. I didn't mention the kiss, and was honestly not sure what I thought of it. While I do find Daeil attractive, he is still my best...and only friend. I could risk losing him, and I won't do that. Therefore, things need to stay where they are. I have to admit that the kiss was very hot, though.
We stayed at my house for a while, finishing our homework, then decided to go to the mall. We visited several shops, then came across a brand new one. Walking in, I got a strange feeling.
The worker approached me. "May I help you guys? Are you looking for anything in particular?" He seemed normal, but there was something about him that I couldn't place. Maybe power?
I glanced at Daeil to see if he had noticed anything odd. He was just smiling at the man. Nope. He hadn't seen anything.
"Um...we just noticed this was a new store, and decided to check it out," I looked at the man, still trying to figure him out. "Thanks."
We wandered around the store, exploring. It seemed to be a type of fantasy store, with many different kinds of cool figurines. One book caught my eye: 'The Truth About Mystical Powers.' I picked the book up, flipping through the pages. The preface was all about the Fae Realm and weird shit like that. It was still intriguing, so I bought it.
The man smiled at us as I paid for the book. "I hope you enjoy this one. It is very informative, and might open your eyes to a whole new world."
I just smiled at him again, thinking he must be a bit off his rocker. It would be a fun fantasy book to read, at least.
Daeil bought a few fake potions, then we left.
We went back to my house, and Daeil was very happy to open his potions. The first one was sweet smelling, and there was something about it that felt genuine. We looked through the booklet that came with the potion set, and found out that one of them was healing. Daeil touched it with his finger, licking it.
"It actually tastes good," he smiled at me, putting more on his finger and holding it out to me. I glanced at him before placing my lips to Daeil's finger. The potion tasted sweet, but I was taking more notice of how warm my friend's finger was in my mouth. It was definitely affecting me. I felt a tingle on my tongue, but wasn't sure if it was the potion or Daeil.
Either way, I pulled away. "It is sweet," I could feel my face becoming flushed, and hoped that Daeil had not noticed.
"What do you say we look through this book of yours?" Daeil smiled at me, reaching for it. We looked through it, beginning with the fabled Fae Realm section. It then went on the other powers, and strange planets.
We started to close the book, and Daeil bumped it. A thin vial fell out, and it was flashing. I froze, pushing Daeil out of its reach. I scooped it up with a piece of paper and tossed it in my desk. Grinning at Daeil, I shrugged. "Wouldn't want it blowing the house up...Damn toy."
Daeil stared at the drawer. "Yeah."
