Kai's Cinderella

Your POV I laugh as my brother starts muttering about how he doesn't want to go to his school and other various things.
I set down a stack of papers and push it towards him, “Solve all the questions on this sheet and I’ll drop it off at the school you’ll be going to.”
“What why?”
“Because they want to see if you’ll need help or not or even if you’ll be set a grade behind.”
I watch Kwan puff his cheeks as he starts to answer all the questions and I’m surprised that in an hour he finished everything surprised himself.
“How did I do that?” he asks me purely shocked.
“While you were asleep I had done all kinds of homework in your room reading out loud maybe you learned that way.”
He nods his head, “Maybe.”
I smile as I take the stack of papers sliding them into an envelope glad that they even fit and place it into my school bag.
“I’ll try to drop this off tomorrow.”
I look at my watch and curse, “I need to get home before dad does.”
“Why?”
“Cause then Stepmother can't lie through her teeth.”
He smiles as I reach over and hug him and as I leave my big brother’s apartment I give him and my niece a hug.
“I’ll see you after school,” I shout to them as I leave.
I smile as I reach my car and see a text from Kris.
I read it, “Hey, are you free this weekend the guys and I am going to the beach?”
“No, I’m not, but would you mind if I brought my brother with?” I text back.
“No, that sounds fine with me. I heard that you got your necklace back.”
“How did you know?”
“Come on, I would need to be an idiot it I didn’t put 2 and 2 together and get 4.”
I laugh at the text as I text back, “Fine, yes I did, but I’m worried if I wear it to the beach.”
“That you may lose it or that Kai will notice?”
“Both,” I answer.
“Ahhhh well come with us, okay.”
“I already said I would if my brother could come with.”
I laugh at him glad that we’re texting so he wouldn’t know.
“Also I know you're laughing.”
“What are you a stalker?”
“No, I’m just getting back to my apartment.”
I look up and notice him walking up to me.
“Kris,” I shout as I run up and hug him, “this is where you live?”
He nods his head, “Yup, why are you here?”
“I’m leaving my brother’s and about to head home.”
“Are you walking?”
“I don't live that far from here so I thought I would.”
“I’ll walk with you then,” he tells me as he takes my bag from me and offers his arm.
I laugh as I take it and I look at him.
I start singing the follow the yellow brick road song from the Wizard of Oz.
He laughs and starts in with me and even skips with me.
“So the bad boy look was all a ploy?”
“No, just I find this fun for some reason. The guys do stupid things all the time that I never think of having fun.”
I laugh at him, “You know you sound like a moron.”
“Hey!”
I laugh as I let go of his arm and flip my body around so I’m in front of him. I place my hands behind my back as I smile at him.
“You know you’re too blunt for your own good.”
I smile as him as I keep walking that way, “I know, but it’s part of who I am.”
He nods his head as he looks at my necklace hanging loosely around my neck, “Why try to keep a front at how sad you really are?”
I’m shocked he noticed still I answer truthfully, “It’s cause it’s easier to pretend that I’m not hurting inside. No one needs to worry if I’m alright if they don’t know if I am or not.”
He glares at me as he pulls me into a hug, “Stop pretending tell people when you're hurt or not it helps us understand you more. We’re all your friends so you can tell us anything.”
I pout at him as I hit his chest, “Shut up, you don’t know anything about anything. You don't know me and I don't know you.”
“That’s the thing you won’t let us know all of you. You’re hiding your past we know that, but we’re still your friends.”
I feel tears prickle my eyes and I hear a voice shout at Kris.
“Kris, when did you start walking around with girls?”
I keep my body from tensing and Kris simply says, “Since this 1 is my friends.”
I hear Kai whisper my name and I simply turn around, but not before wiping the tears and smile at him.
“Hi, Kai how are you?”
It seems his mood soured when he noticed it really is me.
“When did you 2 start dating?”
“We're no...” Kris covered my mouth before I couldn’t finish my sentence.
“Why should it matter to you if I date her or not you have the mute Cinderella?”
I look at him confused as I play with my scarf the only thing keeping Kai from seeing the truth just who I am.
Kai starts tripping over his words.
I sigh, “I’m going home Kris give me my bag. If you see my brother on your way to your apartment tell him I’ll be at his house at 4 tomorrow.”
“No problem, what’s his apartment number?”
I tell him and find out that the neighbor that’s rarely home is Kris.
“Oh really still makes no sense but okay.”
I wave to him after talking him out of walking me the rest of the way home.
Still I get rid of Kris and I end up with Kai following me.
“Kai, why are you following me?”
“Cause I live this way, duh.”
“What?”
He tell me his address and I realize I should have just let him drive me to school, but I guess it was because only Kris, Chanyeol, and Tao know how I really am.
I notice that my father’s car has yet to pull into the driveway, “Thanks I guess for walking me home neighbor.”
He nods his head, but he still stands in front of me silent.
