True Love Never Dies

Shaun’s POV.
At 7pm, i drove to his house and saw everyone there. They were eating and having a good time with music on. Though his apartment was small, it fit everyone he invited. While i was sitting there talking to Eugene and Joon, i glanced over to see Jana talking to Alex in the kitchen. Jana was cutting up fruits while Alex went over to talk to her. They were smiling and everything. I couldn't look at them like that. I really think i could rekindle my relationship with Jana but she is looking at someone else and seems happy about it. I don't really know what to do so i stood up and walked out of the apartment. I got some fresh air.

“How are you?” Alex comes over, gets some fruit & asks Jana.

“Great! How about you?” Jana smiles & asks.

Alex smiles & says, “been busy with the cases at work.”

Jana smiles & says, “that's good to hear.”

“How was our vacation with your friends?” Alex asks.

“It was a very fun week. I got to experience different things”, Jana says.

Alex continues to ask, “what did you do?”

Jana says, “we went to see stingrays, ziplining, and eating delicious food.”

“You went ziplining?” Alex gets shock & asks.

“Yeah, i did. It was so much fun.” Jana smiles & says.

Alex smiles & says, “i have always wanted to go ziplining or sky diving one day.”

Jana laughs & says, “you should go ziplining. Skydiving? Your bold.”

“You have to try it once in your life”, Alex laughs & says.

“Okay”, Jana smiles & says.

Jana’s POV.
Alex left to sit down at the couch. I was finished cutting the fruit when i didn't see Shaun around the apartment. So i went to ask Joyce where he was.

Jana asks Joyce, “hey, have you seen Shaun?”

Joyce says, “i don't know. He might went outside.”

“Okay, thanks”, Jana says.

I ran outside to look for Shaun who was going to his car. I stopped him by calling his name.

“Shaun!”, Jana calls out Shaun’s name.

Shaun stops, turns around & asks, “what?”

Jana walks towards Shaun standing a distance away from him & asks, “where are you going?”

“I’m going home”, Shaun says.

“The party just started, stay a little longer. I made you some fruit.” Jana says.

Shaun says in frustration, “you should go back in there and worry about Alex instead of me.”

Jana asks in frustration, “is this what its about? Me talking to Alex just now? Are you serious?”

“It seems like you two are occupied and right for each other. You should just be together with him.” Shaun angrily says.

“Your jealous of me talking to Alex”, Jana says noticing it all from Shaun’s face.

Shaun says in denial, “im not jealous.”

Jana sees it on Shaun’s face & says, “you are jealous.”

“I don't need this right now. I’m leaving.” Shaun says.

“There is nothing going on between me and Alex. He just asked me about my vacation and i answered. I don’t like him that way Shaun.” Jana explains herself.

Shaun asks & says, “you know what? Just cancel the wedding. With you like this, i don't think we’re going to get married.”

Jana asks, “you really want that after we talked about it this morning? This is going to stop the wedding? Are you serious right now?”

“I've worked so hard for this wedding and getting everything done by the end of the year. I have the venue secured and everything. I want us to be together and live the rest of our lives together. That's why i said yes to you is because i love you Shaun, i've always had.” Jana says.

“I’m marrying the love of my life and i want to do it right. I never loved anyone else nor did i stop loving you. I want to start a family with you, grow old with you. This baby needs a father.” Jana continues to say.

Jana apologizes, “i am sorry that i made you jealous but there is nothing going on between me and Alex. And i’ll understand if you don't want to get married anymore. I thought you should know how much i love you Shaun. And that I have faith in us.”

Jana says, “if your jealous about this little thing, i don’t think it’s going to work out. This jealousy’s got to stop.”

“I was going to tell you that my mom will be living with us because she got a divorce three weeks ago. I can’t have her living alone after what happened. She’s going to use the guest bedroom in the meantime.” Jana says.

“Is she alright?” Shaun asks worrying for Tammy.

Jana says, “you just worry about fixing our relationship and not about others right now.”

I was so upset about this whole thing. Tears were running down my face while i walked away thinking everything would be okay when it wasn't at all. I got to sit on the bench at the park next to the apartment getting my mind off of things. Ryan came looking for me and sat next to me to talk to me.

“Hey”, Ryan says sitting next to Jana.

“That could be mine and Shaun’s life in a few years”, Jana says looking at the kids playing around.

Ryan smiles & says, “you guys would make beautiful kids Jana.”

Jana says looking down to her hands, “if we ever get that far.”

“Shaun has trouble expressing his feelings. He's always been the leader in the group and likes to take charge. Ever since our dad left us, he's always been taking care of us. I know we fight most of the time but he's a great older brother.” Ryan says.

“Well, he's hard to understand sometimes. If he was more like you or Joon, we wouldn't have this stupid fight.” Jana says.

Ryan says, “but he's not like us. He's different and I think that's why you love him so much.”

Jana says, “yeah he's different in so many ways. Other than his stubbornness, he has a great heart and takes care of the people around him. I'm always happy around him.”

“To be honest, you changed him Jana. He was so mad and boring before. But now, he's happy and smiling more because of you. And I can't see anyone else with him.” Ryan sighs & says.

“Really? Why did he became like that?” Jana asks.

Ryan explains in further detail, “I guess our dad was like that and you know our mom, she's not any better. Our family was a mess after that and he wanted to fix it. The more he did, the more it didn't become better. And he gave up entirely.”

Jana says, “he can't just blame it on one person.”

“Why can't we be like Ben and Joyce? Get married, have kids, and be happy.” Jana asks & says.

Ryan smiles & says, “Every relationship is different. If you two really love each other than you’ll learn to figure it out.”

Ryan stood up and walked back into the house. I sat there still thinking about everything Ryan has just said. He was right and my heart did belong to Shaun. After a few minutes by myself, i went back into the apartment to continue talking to other people. I see Shaun sitting on the other end of the dining table talking to Ben. After cutting the cake, i walked Janey back to her apartment which was next door. I hanged out there and talked to her for a little while. We sat on the couch and talked all night long.

Janey asks, “so how's the wedding planning going?”

“It’s going better than i thought”, Jana smiles & says.

Janey’s POV.
Before asking Jana, I secretly called Shaun putting it on mute to make him listen to everything that me and Jana were talking about. I wanted him to hear it from her.

“How long have you and Shaun been together?” Janey asks curiously.

Jana says, “we’ve been dating for 3 years and engaged for 1 year.”

Janey says & asks, “that's a long time. How did you know he was the one?”

“I knew the very first time we met at the bowling alley. He was very caring and looked after me.” Jana looks down and smiles, says.

“I don't think any man has ever looked at you like Shaun does. He’s in love with you Jana.” Janey says.

Jana says, “i am in love with him too.”

Jana continues to say, “i’d met these two people on my vacation and it's amazing how love can do to a person. I want that one day with Shaun and be happy for the rest of my life. When i'm not with him, i feel like i'm missing a part inside of me. Without him, i'm lost and lonely. I know that i said i had fun on the vacation but i really missed him and wished he was with me.”

“You guys are good together. Don’t let it break you apart.” Janey says.

“I’m really tired. I’m gonna go home.” Jana says as she stands up.

I took my phone and walked Jana out to her car for safety. I waved goodbye while she drives off. Then i picked up the phone to talk to Shaun.

Janey asks Shaun over the phone, “did you hear all of that?”

Shaun says over the phone, “i did. Thank you.”

“Now you know what to do”, Janey says in Korean.

“Yeah”, Shaun says in Korean.

I hung up the phone and went back to my apartment.

Jana’s POV.
I went to my mom’s house from Janey’s apartment. I helped her put all of her things in my car and drove her to my apartment. Mom was really tired so she slept the entire ride there.
