In White Houses

Ch.3

My eyes slowly opened, shifting, I saw everyone passed out on the floor. The living room covered with blankets, pillows and empty beer bottles, a few of them snoring. Aw man, when did we fall asleep here?

I slowly sat up, I tapped my phone screen to see what time it was. 5 AM? For some reason, I was wide awake and couldn't fall back asleep so I decided to get up to go to my room and finish organizing my things.

As soon as I was about to pass the kitchen to enter the hallway that led to my room I saw Taehyung sitting at the dining room table reading with a cup of coffee. I wonder why he's up so early?

I felt myself blush as I remembered I had my first kiss with him a few hours ago. His eyes shot up at me from his book, I gulped entering the kitchen dining area.
"Good morning." He murmured, "g-good morning." I stuttered, I didn't know whether to keep walking or attempt small talk I just felt awkward in general.

"Do you want anything to eat or drink? He asked eyeing me. My throat was dry, I can still taste the beer in my mouth, "Um, orange juice, but I can get it-.."

Taehyung stood up and walked over to the fridge grabbing the orange juice, he pulled a glass out from the cupboard and poured it. He walked back to his chair and sat the glass of orange juice next to him on the dining room table. So, I guess I'll be joining him? I nervously walked over to the chair next to him taking a seat, he picked up his book and began reading where he left off, "thanks." I say sliding my chair up.

The whole house was quiet, you could only hear was the Air conditioning humming. This is awkward, let alone we shared an intimate moment after just meeting. I took a few sips of my orange juice and side-eyeing him to see what book he was reading. 'War & Peace' by Leo Tolstoy, he was so fixated into the book his eyes would rapidly move from one page to another, his eyelashes flutter every time he blinked, he's really...handsome.

"So where are you from?" his sudden voice startled me, his eyes still glued to his book, "oh uh, about an hour east from here, I'm from the countryside. I answered. "What made you come all the way to the big city?" he flipped a page.

I bit my lip, "Just needed to relocate, kind of starting fresh," I half smiled. I remembered Seoyeon calling me a few months ago asking if I could help teach ballet as an assistant teacher at a dance studio she manages at since they didn't have enough staff. I hadn't danced in a while so I knew I was pretty rusty but Seoyeon knew how good I was since we used to take ballet classes together when she used to live in the countryside.

She continued all the way until she graduated high school in Seoul, and went to University for dance. As for me I stopped ballet once my mom started getting sick, ballet was a dream I grew to love since my mom too did ballet too. However, she had to stop and lost her scholarships to some prestige art schools when she got pregnant with me, she was only 17, my mom had me very young but she never regretted anything she always told me being my mother was her new calling and passion.

Maybe, I learned to love ballet because no matter what I always felt guilty that my mom had to quit her dreams to raise me, and so, I wanted her to live her dreams through me. I felt my chest getting heavy as I remembered my mom laying in hospital bed, skinny and frail, barely recognizable as her cancer reached stage 4, I stayed by her side as much as I could until the nurses forced me to go home and rest.

"Are you alright?" I snapped back into reality, not aware I had zoned out, Taehyung was now looking at me. "Yeah, yeah I'm fine, I guess I'm still kind of tired, I don't remember falling asleep," I said putting my hand on my cheek.

"Oh yeah, last night was pretty wild." He nodded, slightly smirking. I felt myself blush, is he thinking about....that? He got up to put his mug in the sink, he paused, "Was...was it really your first kiss?" he asked still facing the sink, I deeply sighed, "I guess that's a yes."

He quietly chuckled, I felt my face getting hot, he turned to walk out of the kitchen to go up the stairs, he paused as one foot was on the first stair and turned halfway to face me.
"I just hope you won't fall for me." He said with a stern face. I stared at him blankly as he continued up the dark stairs disappearing.

What was that about?
