The Missing Piece

True Friendship Never Dies.

Jana’s POV.
After getting ready, i took my bag and went downstairs to make a few phone calls at the cute bakery we passed by earlier. I sat there calling Alex, but he didn't pick up so i assume that he had already went out with his friends so i left a voicemail. He was going to be worried if i don't leave a voicemail or call him when i arrived in Vegas.

Jana leaves a voicemail saying, “Hey Alex. I just wanted tell you that i had already arrived in Vegas and that we are resting after the long flight here. I figured you are out with your friends so have fun and don't party too hard. I’ll talk to you later. Bye Alex.”

I hanged up the phone and called Max letting him know. I knew it went straight to voicemail so i just left one anyways. I did promise Alex that i would earlier.

When the message went to voicemail, i said…

Jana leaves a voicemail saying, “Babe. i have finally made it to Vegas with the girls a couple minutes ago. We are in the hotel room resting for a little while before going out to eat dinner. I really miss you and i want to talk to you soon. I got to go now, bye Babe.”

One message after another and i was done. I sat there for a little while and watched people walk back and forth. I smiled and thought about how happy those people were. They are just strangers in a different city spending time with their love ones. We were going to do the same and going to enjoy it together. So i got up from my seat and walked back to the hotel room.

Caroline’s POV.
Jana came back from somewhere. I walked into the bathroom and gotten ready. The bathroom was huge. One of me was in this big room so i made the most of it. I bathe for like 15 minutes and took a quick shower. I dried my hair and changed a pair of clothes. I wore a white with black box pattern loose short sleeve shirt, dark black skinny jeans, combat ankle boots, black watch, with her black leather backpack.

Me and Jana were comfortable but stylish at the same time.

Then it was Bailee’s turn. She just took a quick shower and changed clothes. She wore light black skinny jeans with a bit of rip parts at the knee, a tan short sleeve loose button up shirt, white high tennis shoes, gold watch, a black purse.

Payton was the last one. She was in there for quite some time. After 20 minutes, she came out looking fabulous in stylish white shirt tucked into a black pattern pencil skirt, creme light cardigan, tan ankle boots with black ruffled socks showing up, hair curled down.

[5:30PM]

Bailee’s POV.
Since we were all ready for the night, we headed out downstairs. We were super hungry so we ate the Bacchanal Buffet in the same hotel we were staying at.

There was a huge line to wait, but i guess the restaurant was good. So many people lining up at the receptionist to pay. I saw the price on the board in front of me and it was a bit expensive. It wasn't anything i have spent in my entire life, nevertheless, gone out like this before. After 20 minutes of waiting in line, it was our turn to pay. Jana, Payton, and Caroline stepped up to pay.

The person at the cashier says happily, “Hello. How are you today?”

Payton says happily, “Hi. we are good today, thank you.”

The person at the cashier asks, “how many are in your party this evening?”

Caroline says jokingly, “us four lovely girls.”

The person at the cashier says & asks, “It’s going to be $54.99 per person this evening. Will that be okay with you lovely girls?”

Jana says, “Yes. That will be fine with us today.”

The person at the cashier says, “For four is $219.96, including tax is $237.96.”

Payton’s POV.
Jana gave the cashier person her clear American Express card. Bailee stops Jana by holding her hand with the card on it.

Bailee asks, “What are you doing Jana?”

Jana looks at Bailee still holding her card back & says, “i'm paying for our dinner.”

“You're not paying for the entire thing. Its nearly $240. Thats too much, let's split it within the four of us.” Bailess says scaredly.

Caroline smiled at Bailee & says to her, “Don't worry Bailee. The three of us split it among us. We gave Jana money beforehand to put into her card so she would pay for it on her card. We all got this, don't worry about it.”

Payton says, “Since you were willingly to meet us in New York City the past few days, we thought we treat you with this expensive dinner tonight.”

“You girls are too much. Why are you doing this?” Bailee says & asks in her surprising tone.

While Bailee was in her “don't do this mode”, Jana gave the cashier person her clear American Express card to pay. The cashier person slide it and the transaction was successful. She got the receipt and waited for the waitress to seat us. Once a family got out of the restaurant, it was our turn to be seated inside. As the waitress was walking us to our table, Bailee was still balling her eyes out shockingly not knowing anything going on. I hugged Bailee while walking to our table to comfort her. When we got our table, we sat down.

Payton says to the girls, “you girls get your food first. I’ll sit here so we wouldn't lose our table.”

Bailee asks, “are you sure Pay?”

“Yeah. it's fine. I know you are all hungry so go first.” Payton says.

“Alright, we’ll go first then.” Caroline says.

Bailee, Jana, and Caroline went around to get their food first. I waited for everyone to get back. While waiting, i checked my phone. There was a text message from Kevin on the Whats App. I clicked on it and it opened saying, “Pay. I know that you are on vacation with the girl gang but we need to talk. I really want to talk to you about something and it's important. Whenever your free, call me. I’ll be here waiting for your call.” I was going to call him back on the app, but Caroline came back with her plate of food. So i closed my phone.

Caroline says as she sits down in her chair in front of Payton, “your turn.”

Payton got up from her chair with her purse & says, “okay. I’ll be right back.”

As i was walking around getting my food, i called Kevin on the Whatsapp talking to him on one of my headphones.

Kevin picks up the phone & says, “Hey. i'm so happy to hear from you again.”

Payton says, “well, we’ve been flying since this early morning so i didn't get a chance to call you back.”

Payton continues to ask, “what did you want to talk to me about?”

“I talked to my parents and we came to an agreement for me to move out into my own apartment.” Kevin says over the phone.

“Its that time now huh?” Payton asks.

Kevin says, “yeah. I'm already packing my things here and moving this weekend into the city.”

Payton says, “i don't know what to say Kev.”

“Say that you're happy for me and it's a new start for us. What's the matter?” Kevin worries saying & asks.

“I don't know where we stand anymore. This relationship is starting to drown as the days goes by.” Payton says.

Kevin says, “you're doing it again Payton. We don't have to go down that road again.”

Payton says, “we do. I've been thinking about us lately and i'm not sure anymore. You're there, im here. It's just too far for the both of us.”

“We’ve worked it out one. We can do it again, right this time.” Kevin says trying to figure out everything.

“I need time and space right now. Let's take a break for now. I really want to enjoy this vacation with the girls.” Payton says worrying him.

Kevin says in his trembling voice, “alright. I’ll be here waiting for you. Just call whenever you're ready to talk again.”

Payton says, “thanks Kev. goodbye.”

“Goodbye Payton.” Kevin says.

We hung up the phone and i stopped walking. I leaned myself against the edge of the table and tried to catch my tears from falling. We were on a break once again. If you hadn't known, we have been on a break a couple of months ago because we weren't there for each other. This time, i wanted to question everything before it was officially official to us. It really killed me inside to see the both of us take a break again but at the same time i was happy to spend time with my girls. So i wiped away my tears, cleaned, and moved on with my night. I walked around and filled up my plate with delicious food. After, i headed back to the table to eat with the girls together. We were so happy being together and eating such a delicious meal. After getting full to our stomachs, we sat there to talk for a little while before going out into the city.

Payton says, “there is something i want to tell you girls.”

Bailee asks, “what's wrong Pay?”

“Me and Kevin are on a break right now.” Payton says.

“Again?” Jana questions Payton.

Caroline says, “Jana.”

Jana asks, “what? I'm not surprised that they broke up because it's always like this, on and off.”

“You don't know the whole story.” Payton says to Jana.

“Of course i do, we do.” Jana says.

Payton says, “tell me then.”

Jana begins to describe, “you both want different things. Long distance is killing you. One thing leads to another and you're never happy Pay.”

Jana continues to say, “these things happen to you all the time. We all know this about you and you can't deny it.”

“Lucky shot.” Payton says.

“Well, whatever you do Pay. just know that you have us here with you. You're not alone in this.” Bailee says.

Caroline says, “and if Kevin can't see the other side of you then maybe he’s not the one for you. And you have to maybe consider someone else.”

Payton says, “that's the thing. There is no one else but him in this world for me. Not even all of the other guys i've dated in the past.”

“If he is the one then why are you letting him go?” Jana says & asks.

“I don't know. I'm so stupid guys.” Payton admits.

Bailee says, “we’ll get through this together Pay.”

After dinner, we all walked around the strip together and took some pictures of the scenery there. We wanted to enjoy the nightlife without anyone interrupting us. We went to eat ice cream and watched people walk the night life. We also talked about how life was like.

Jana says, “i wonder what life is like without boyfriends.”

Payton says to Jana, “boring, miserable, and no life.”

“Come on guys. We promised we wouldn't talk about this during our vacation.” Bailee says.

“Yeah, you're bumming us out.” Caroline says.

Jana says, “come on. Something has to be wrong with your relationships.”

Payton asks, “Caroline, care to go first?”

“No. Me and Gary are fine. Nothing is going on.” Caroline says like she is in denial.

“Well if you say it like that, something is definitely wrong.” Payton says as she notices something is wrong in Caroline’s tone.

Bailee says, “you don't have to tell us if you don't want to but we would like to know cause we’re your best friends.”

Jana says agreeing with Bailee, “I totally agree with Bailee one hundred percent.”

“Me and Gary is having trouble communicating. He's going back to Wisconsin after his internship is over.” Caroline explains.

“And when is he going back home?” Payton asks.

Caroline says, “he is done with his internship in 2 weeks.”

Jana says, “oh no Caroline. That's so soon.”

“Didn't you say that his internship is over in another year or so?” Bailee asks remembering a little.

“That's what i thought so too, but apparently he didn't tell me that sooner. Two weeks ago he said he was done with his internship in a year and now he is saying in two weeks he’s done.” Caroline explains furthermore.

Payton says & asks, “i thought he was going to stay here with you for a few months after his internship is over. Whatever happened to living together for a while before him going back to Wisconsin?”

Caroline says, “i guess he was frightened when we discussed that together a few weeks ago. I really thought he was the one for me, but he turns out to be another cowboy jerk.”

“This is why you don't fall for his cowboyish way. What are you going to do Care?” Jana says & asks.

“I don't know anymore. This is why i hate long distance relationship, it never works out well.” Caroline says.

Payton says to Caroline, “you can join me in the single party now.”

Jana says, “everything is going to be fine guys. Guys or no guys, we get through and share the same pain together.”

“Thats right.” Bailee agrees with Jana & says.

It had already hit midnight and we were all getting pretty sleepy. We traveled this morning and wanted to sleep tonight even though it's the city that never sleep. We walked back to hotel together and slept the night away.
