An Explosion Of Feelings

Explosion!

“One, two, three—BANG! Annyeonghaseyo. We are, Explosion!”

The group of girls smiled and bowed to the camera currently focused on them.

The leader, Jiwoo, picked up the microphone and made a peace sign with her hand “Hi, I’m Explosions leader, Jiwoo!”

Passing the microphone, the next girl waved her hand “Hi, I’m Kika, nice to meet you~”

The next girl to speak, looked to be the youngest member “Hiiii, I’m the maknae, my name is Minyoung.”

As the mic reached the last member, she kept a somewhat stern expression “I’m Chaeyoung.”

“Wah, she seems to be the tough one of the group, an icequeen maybe?”

Laughing at the hosts comments, Jiwoo took the mic back. “No no, that’s just how her face always is. Even when she’s having a good time.” As if on queue, a picture of Chaeyoung on a slide came on screen and sure enough, she had the same expression on her face.

As the audience began to laugh, the mood became very pleasant in the studio.

“Welcome to the show, ladies. It’s your first time here, right? We will have to change that. You’re all too fresh and pretty to not be on camera.”

The girls waved their hands around in a dismissive motion “Not at all, we’re nowhere near as pretty as our sunbaes.”

“Speaking of, aren’t your company sunbaes Seventeen, N’UEST and After School? That must be very intimidating, no?”

Pursing her lips in a thoughtful way, Jiwoo shook her head " Actually, it’s really nice. They’re very caring and they look after us well. They even help us out when we aren’t sure how to put our songs and choreography together.”

Nodding, Kika added “Especially Woozi sunbae, he is really good at producing so he helps us a
lot.”

The host opened his mouth “Ah, I see! Such good sunbaes you have. Are you close to any of the members?”

Minyoung, who had been quietly listening along, finally spoke up “Lizzy unnie is a good friend of mine. She’s so much fun.”

Kika pursed her lips and looked at Chaeyoung “I guess we’re close to JR from N’UEST the most. He takes us for dinner a lot.”

The host turned his attention to Jiwoo, who was smiling at her members in support.

“What about your leader~ Jiwoo-ssi? Are you close to any of your company sunbaes?”

Trying to hide a smile, Jiwoo shrugged her shoulders casually “I think so. I’m close to everyone really. As a leader, I have to communicate well with others, so I tend to get along with everyone.”
Scoffing playfully, the host motioned to her group-mates “Is she always this good at avoiding questions?”

“Neh~” they all answered with a giggle.

Poking her tongue out at them, Jiwoo turned her attention back to the host, wondering if he would change the subject.

“Okay so as new rookies, you’re not very well known to the world yet. This next segment is going to let you showcase your talents”

Excitement bubbled up in the girl’s stomachs as they looked between each other happily.

“First up, we have the youngest, Minyoung. We’ve heard you’re very good at dancing. Is this true?”

Kika nudged the maknae and she beamed “Yes, I’m actually the main dancer.”

“She choreographs all of our routines, it’s amazing” Jiwoo made sure she praised her youngest member.

“Wow, then we have to see you perform a dance number for us. Come on out”

Minyoung looked at her unnies and they all gave her a supportive thumbs up.

“MinYoungie, fighting!” Kika cheered as Chaeyoung flashed a grin before going back to her usual blank look.

As the music played in the background, Minyoung let herself feel the beat. Within seconds she was popping her arms and legs in time. She was normally a shy girl but when she performed, she gave it everything. It was so impressive that everyone in the studio clapped for her once she was done.

“Unbelievable, Minyoung, how old are you?”

With a shy bow, she answered “I’ve just turned 18.”

“So much talent for someone so young, bravo. You’ll have many fans!”

As she sat down, all of her members gave her a pat on the back. “You did well!”

“I suppose we should see what your leader has got! Jiwoo-ssi would you like to come out.”

As the host motioned her forward, a chair and a guitar were waiting at the side for her.

Sitting down, she adjusted everything while the host spoke.

“Jiwoo’s talent is singing, of course, but she also plays guitar. Please listen and show your love.”

“Unnie let’s go!” all of the girls cheered for their leader and she shot them a bright smile.

“This song is called This is Me and it’s from The Greatest Showman. I hope you like it”

Plucking the strings, Jiwoo’s eyes fell shut and she began to sing.

“I am not a stranger to the dark, hide away…they say, cause we don’t want your broken parts…”

The entire studio went quiet as she sang, her voice captivating the audience and host.

Once she finished the song, she smiled shyly and set the guitar aside while cheers were blasting from the audience.

“Now that…is a leader! Your voice commanded the whole room, Jiwoo-ssi. That was beautiful, I almost cried.”

Holding her hand over her heart in gratitude, Jiwoo bowed and sat in her seat as her members shook their heads in awe.

“We’ve heard her sing this many times and it still amazes us.”

Shaking her head in embarrassment, Jiwoo nudged Kika who was beside her. The two were the closest in the group as they had been friends since highschool.

“Kika! I think it’s your turn to wow us. I’ve heard you’re a talented rapper?”

Chaeyoung nodded enthusiastically and Minyoung stood up dramatically “She’ll melt your face off.”

Snorting with laughter, Jiwoo motioned for her to calm down. “Our youngest has had too much sugar, I’m sorry.”

Kika grinned at her members and picked up the mic as an instrumental played.

“This is a rap I’ve been working on for our next track, so I’ll give you a small preview.”

“You think you’ve got the skills to pay these bills? You’re wrong, boy. I pay my own way~”

As she gained her flow, Kika started spitting fire and all of the other girls whopped and waved their hands in the air.

“Oh, Kill ‘em!” Jiwoo cheered and the host laughed while clapping.

“Yah, you’re all killing me. Kika you could be a solo rapper!”

“Boo, she’s with us.” Chaeyoung scowled and tugged Kika down beside her, much to the older girls amusement.

“Well now, Chaeyoung, Ms Ice queen, please come out and share your talent. We’ve been told you’re super acrobatic?” With a smile, the host moved and motioned for the girl to take her place on the floor.

As she took her spot, Kika grumbled jokingly “I can never beat her at twister.”

With a proud smirk, Chaeyoung took her shoes off and stretched. “Okay, I’m ready now.”

As everyone watched on with wide eyes, Chaeyoung managed to do continuous backflips until she landed in the splits, comfortably.

“Can we please talk about the fact that she did all of that with a plain expression? She’s freezing my soul” The host joked and helped Chaeyoung back up.

“I think I might take the Ice Queen image and use it” with a tiny smirk, she sat back down as the host pretended to faint.

“I can’t handle you all. I can honestly say I’ve never seen such a talented rookie group.”

“Thank you so much, we’re having a lot of fun today and I hope you’re all getting to see our true selves.” Jiwoo, in her natural leader voice, spoke kindly to the host.

“I would love for the audience to see you perform your debut song if that’s okay? I’m sure they’ll be your fans after this.”

Nodding, they all rose to their feet and moved to the small stage built to the side as the host focused on the camera.

“Performing for you here and at home, please show some love for this great new group. With their debut song, Collision. This is, Explosion!”

As the intro played, the girls all moved began to perform their song, fully in sync.

“That was so much fun!” Minyoung cheered as she and her members all sat in the waiting room after the show had finished filming.

Chuckling, Jiwoo fanned herself and looked around at the girls. They all seemed so buzzed but also very tired. She knew they had worked very hard so she wanted to treat them.

“Okay ladies, because you’ve worked so hard, I’m going to—”

“KNOCK KNOCK~” A loud, musical voice blasted from the entrance of the room.

Startled, the girls looked up and almost fell over at the sight of all thirteen members of Seventeen in front of them.

“Congratulations, you all did so well!” Seokmin cheered for them as the boys all filed inside, closing the door behind them.

Smiling softly, Jiwoo stood up, along with the others and they bowed “Thanks so much.”

Scoffing, Seungkwan ruffled Minyoung’s hair, much to her protests “Don’t be so formal, the cameras aren’t on. Relax.”

Dropping their shoulders in relief, the girls beamed at their friends.

“So why are you all here? I doubt you were just in the neighbourhood.” Kika rolled her eyes playfully as Mingyu threw his arm over her shoulders.

“We were recording next door and knew you’d be here. We watched the taping. You all did so well, which is why…” Vernon trailed off and S.Coups appeared from the back with bags of food.

“You.” Jiwoo pointed at her fellow leader, a grin starting to spread across her features.

“This is why you’re my favourite.”

“Yah, of course you would say that.” Jeonghan yelled across the room as he and Dino sat down on a sofa.

Winking, S.Coups brought the bags over and everyone began spreading out with plates.

Sitting next to Wonwoo, Chaeyoung nudged him with her elbow and motioned to one of the containers “Pass me some.”

Raising his brow at her, he tiled his head “Excuse me? What’s the magic word?”

“Now.”

Rolling his eyes, Wonwoo gave in and passed the younger girl some food.

“You know, I’m your oppa.”

As Jiwoo looked to her right, S.Coups was passing his members out some chopsticks.

She wasn’t kidding when she said he was her favourite. She had always had a sweet spot for him. He was caring, charismatic and a fantastic leader. It was hard not to like him.
Feeling a pair of eyes on the back of her head, she turned her gaze to the left, where Minghao sat.

With a cheeky grin, she leaned over and stole one of his pieces of chicken, popping it in her mouth before he realised.

“Wha—Yah. Get your own.” She knew he wasn’t mad, especially when he looked away with a smile.

Minghao and Jiwoo had been good friends for a while, she would almost call him her best friend, if Kika hadn’t taken that spot years before.

“Thanks for the shout out, by the way” Woozi smiled from across the room, glancing at Kika, who beamed back in response.

“You deserve it, you’ve helped so much. You all have.”

Nodding in agreement, Minyoung stood up and pretended to raise a glass in the air.

“What is this child doing…?” Jiwoo mumbled, causing S.Coups to snicker.

“A toast! To our wonderful sunbaes, who without them, we wouldn’t have gotten to debut so early.”

Pursing her lips, Kika nodded and joined her younger member, kicking Chaeyoung’s leg to join them.

With a grumble, she stood up, along with Jiwoo and they all proceeded to raise an invisible toast to the boys on the floor.

“Thank you for everything, Seventeen. We’ll make you proud!” Jiwoo and the girls all yelled as the boys fell around laughing.

“Wow, so amazing.” Hoshi and Joshua clapped enthusiastically while Jun had his phone in his hands beside them.

“Yah, Junhui, are you filming this?!” Kika screeched and lunged for the younger boy and his phone.

Shaking her head, Jiwoo looked around and smiled softly.

She was a lucky girl.

Notes

Depending on how easy it is for you to follow along with names, I might change S.Coups to Seungcheol.

What do you think?

I hope you like my story and I'll update as often as I can!
