Happyends Are Just An Illusion

001

After waiting for hours for my delayed flight to finally board, I was walking down the gangway to the huge plane.
A nicely smiling Stewardess greeted me and after checking my boarding pass, she directed me to the first section where the spacious first class seats were located.
I found seat number 26 and made myself comfortable. It was my first time flying alone and I decided to treat myself to two weeks of luxury vacation which had to include a first class ticket from Atlanta to Los Angeles.

When I left my parents' house in my small hometown of Augusta, Georgia, my mom almost didn't let me go.
"You can't just throw away all that money! If I had known of that stupid idea earlier, you wouldn't even have booked this decadent vacation!" she had yelled at me.

Now let me explain: it's not like my mom disapproves of everything I do and is constantly nagging. But in the last 6 months of my life a lot has happened. And all these passed events led to me booking that ridiculously expensive vacation, blowing a few thousand dollars.
Of course there would have been better things to spend that money on, but I was determined to be a bit reckless for once in my life.

I had just settled into my seat and plugged my earphones in when a commotion started. There was a bunch of young men getting on the plane. Two of them were shoving each other lightly, one was rolling his eyes at them, another was scolding them, two more were talking animatedly, and the last one looked at his phone oblivious to the ruckus going on in front of him.
All seven of them were undoubtedly handsome and from the looks not much older than me.
Three more men appeared behind them, all of them older, taller, and wearing suits. They looked a bit like bodyguards.

'Why would that horde of guys need bodyguards?' I thought and shook my head.

Everyone settled into their respective seats. One of the two boys who were shoving each other earlier was taking a seat beside me. He nodded and smiled to greet me. I gave a small smile back and looked out of the window.

That man was ridiculously good looking and under different circumstances I would have done everything to strike up a conversation. Now I was just cursing my luck. Why would fate set this man beside me when I wanted nothing to do with males whatsoever.

It took about 20 more minutes before the plane was finally speeding down the runway. As the machine was getting faster and faster my breath became shorter and my shoulders started to tense up. Flying was not really a big deal for me but starting and landing made me nauseaus.

A hand appeared on my armrest. My neighbour was offering me his support. I smiled at him again but denied his help. He shrugged and leaned back in his seat.

As soon as the plane had reached its final height, I was able to relax. It was then that I realized, that while my earphones were still plugged in, I had forgotten to turn on the music.
I mentally facepalmed myself and took out my phone to search for my favourite singer. As soon as her voice filled my ears, I released a long breath and leaned back into my seat.

As the time ticked by, I became sleepy and closed my eyes. I didn't even notice that the boy beside me got up and sat down in the previously occupied seat across the aisle.

Notes

Hello fellow KPop-lovers!
I finally came around to write another story. This time it's not just a one shot. I planned about 10 - 15 chapters but maybe it will be a few more or a few less.
This chapter is mostly a prologue. The next two chapters are already written and will be posted within the next week hopefully. Then we'll see how it goes on from there.
Please leave a comment and tell me how you like it so far.
If you like, you can check out my Bambam one shot One Night.
Thanks for reading and hope to see you soon!
Lots of love,
Darleen
