So Much For Being Siblings

Everyone simply stared at me and they did nothing but that. There was a whole minute of silence until Hee-Young broke it. “Um…Kana. Please repeat what you just said.”
“Jimin is my brother.” I repeated to everyone.
“So why did you never mention him before?” Hee-Young replied.
“Well, Jimin and I are not blood related. Long story short, my mother is getting remarried to Jimin’s father soon. So technically speaking, he’s not even my step-brother yet. He soon will be. Just not yet.” I explained.
There was yet another moment of silence where everyone was just looking at me and processing the information in their brain. They must’ve understood all at the same time because they all said ‘oooooh’ at the same, to show that they understood the circumstances.
“Thank god. I was seriously scared before when I heard Jimin say that he cooked for you. I thought you and Jimin were already in a relationship. Not like brother and sister, but like…you know…that kind.” Linda said, sighing with relief.
Sadako immediately nodded with agreement. “Exactly! I misunderstood too! If Kana was actually in a relationship with Jimin though. I honestly wouldn’t know what to do. I mean, who would I side with? Thank Jesus I don’t have to make that choice! It would be legit IMPOSSIBLE.”
The rest of the day went smoothly and everything was normal until while I was heading for language class, I felt a pair of strong arm grab me from the main hall into the corner of the school where there was no one else. I looked to see who in the world pulled me here.
Jeon Jungkook.
‘Why in the world would Jungkook pull me here?’ I thought to myself, extremely confused.
Jungkook looked around quickly, as if checking to see if there were people around, then he turned his focus back on me. “Erm… Kana, you’re close friends with Sadako, right?”
A smirk threatened to form on my face. “Yes. Sadako and I have been close friends for a very long time now. But how is that any of your concern Jungkook?”
“Um…I figured you were. I I think you would know if, if Sadako has a boyfriend, or if she likes anybody right now…” Jungkook said.
I smiled. “Luckily for you, Jungkook, Sadako doesn’t have a boyfriend nor is she interested in a guy right now.”
Jungkook’s eyes beamed and his face lit up. “Really? Does that mean I can ask her out today?”
After hearing what Jungkook just asked me, I immediately made a ‘time-out’ symbol with my two hands. “Woah. Woah. Woah. Jeon Jungkook. Slow down. No. Do not ask Sadako out today. She will hardcore reject you. Don’t get the wrong idea, but Sadako, she doesn’t really…trust guys, I guess. She tends to avoid them. So you should try to be her friend and gain her trust first. As of right now, let’s not ask her out.” I explained to Jungkook. He nodded, understanding.
We chatted and chatted until we bother realized something. “We’re late!” we both shouted at the same time.
We dashed to language class. The second we entered, everyone looked up and the teacher slapped her metal ruler hard on her table. Making a loud sound that almost made everyone jump off their seats. “Jungkook. Kana. Just WHERE were you two?” the teacher demanded.
I had no idea how to answer. Luckily for me, Jungkook did. “We are both terribly sorry. We had some urgent business to deal with. It wasn’t on purpose. I promise this won’t happen again. If it does, we will both serve detention. You have my word for that.” Jungkook told the teacher.
The teacher didn’t look entirely convinced, but she replied, “Well, if you say so. You two, sit down. You’ve already missed enough of my lesson. And by the way, Jungkook, don’t forget what you just said.”
As I sat down in my seat, looked over to Jungkook. He gave me a thumb up and smiled. I smiled back.
‘This is going to be interesting…’ I thought.
