4. Inna's Dream

"Eonnie, when Inhye grows up, Inhye wants to be a K-Pop idol!"

Everytime her sister enters her room, she couldn't help but get all excited telling her the same thing over and over again. This time, she tried to put on a glossy pink lipstick she secretly 'borrowed' from their mother whose room has all sorts of cosmetics. She assured her sister it'll be fine because she said she'll never see the difference from all of the thousands she has, and besides, she barely uses it. Before, she was always fascinated by all those colorful kits and how her mother puts them on her face transforming into some sort of magical being like a fairy every day; but now the reason is just a plain desire of becoming a superstar.

"Why do you want to, little princess?" The older sister asked as she looked down at her sister, expecting the same answer as always. She's used to it with her sister dreaming into becoming an idol but never gets bored hearing the same thing again and again as she finds it 'cute' and 'adorable'.

"Because Inhye wants to marry Jungmin Oppa!"

The kid giggled even more, making playful hops around, maybe even dancing to her favorite song.

And as always, her sister would just look at her with a cocky face and respond with a "Just that?"

Her younger sister pranced around, swaying her hands everywhere, "Yes! I just want to marry Jungmin Oppa~"

The other one, whose hands are now on her waist, scoffed as she rolled her eyes, "You can marry someone better, little princess."

The little kid stopped between her joyous movements and glared, “No one is better! Oppa is the best."

She continued dancing around but stopped once again to scrunch her face up with her narrowed eyes looking up about 5 feet from her height and spoke in a high-pitched tone, "Hey, you're just saying that because you also like Jungmin Oppa!"

Her sister just laughed even more knowing that they both like the same guy so she hugged her little sister.

"It's okay. If Jungmin Oppa will like Eonnie; Inhye will be happy!" She hugged back with a warm smile.

"Is it really okay to Inhye if Jungmin Oppa will marry Eonnie?"

The older sister released from the hug as she looked at her sister with a half serious face in which she responded with a hesitating nod.

"Well, Inhye is still young so Inhye will just marry Jungmin Oppa in another life!"

The two sisters are such fangirls of the group called Krazer— turns out they have the same bias. And even stanning the same guy, they wouldn't make a big deal out of it. Maybe sometimes they playfully mock each other but it just always ends up with a big laugh.

"Another life? Where did you learn that?"

"Teacher told me about enin-nin-nation!"

Struggling to say the right word, her sister laughed at her cuteness; might as well whisper in her mind that she is the real epitome of word 'adorable'.

"Encarnation, you say."

"En-nen. . ." she twisted her tongue and finished off, "nation!"

Another hearty laugh was let out by her older sister as she hugged her again, "If that's what you really want, then," she released her from the hug once again and looked at her straight in the eyes with a reassuring smile, "you can be one in the future."

"Really?" Her face beamed up as she covered her mouth from excitement.

Her sister just nodded with another warm smile, and so, her little sister couldn't help but lunge at her with a big embrace she could melt her with her cuteness.

"I hope Eomma and Appa will support me!"

"Of course they will, little princess," she reassuringly responded as she gently fondled with her hair and help her stand up.

"Really? Then what is Eonnie waiting for? Come on!"

The little girl excitedly jumped around, dragging her sister into the next room with her little fingers holding onto hers, still wearing a smile on her face just when she suddenly stopped between her exaggerated steps and wiped something from her face.

"What is it, little princess?" Her sister asked.

Her little sister turned around with a big smile and answered in a low voice.

"Eomma will see makeup on Inhye's face!"

The two giggled as they continued to proceed to the other room.

This Eonnie right here is now a 16-year old young lady who loves her little sister more than anything. In her eyes, she's a precious rare gemstone that no one can ever replace. For her, she's the only blessing God has ever given to her. She never even cared how her parents would always compare her to her younger sister; all she knew is that she's perfect. She's her sunshine and the joy of her life. She hates her parents anyway. Why? Her whole life, she's pressured into becoming a businesswoman just like her mother. Or his father. It's kept in her mind that their parents know nothing else but to become rich, rich, and even richer. They're never too satisfied with what they already have. Unlike her, she's rather a carefree one who wants to enjoy her life doing whatever she wants.

"Your Eonnie is no help in our family that is why you will be the next businesswom—"

"No! Eonnie is helpful and kind! Eonnie is the angel in family! Eonnie is the best! Eonnie understands me!"

"Your Eonnie is useless!"

The angry woman flamed up even more as she stood up and crossed her arms.

"I'm useless because I couldn't help you with your only knowledge— to reap cash and insert them inside your filthy asses!" The older sister retorted with a howling voice.

The next scenes are just the family arguing, thankfully the man's not yet home, or else it would end up more than with the mother giving a strong slap to her first daughter. No longer surprised as she's used to it but still sick of the contumelious treatment, she walked out of the scene with her right hand covering her sore cheek from the blow yet with her pride showing in every stomp of hers. It's the first time she's seen her mother act rough with her younger sister and apparently, she wouldn't let her mother nor anyone else do that to her. After all, she's all that's left for her.

Scared and upset, little teary eyed Inhye, stormed off the room to go after her sister. She gasped, seeing her midway kneeling down just in front of her room also tears streaming down her face, still her palms trying to soothe the pain away. She doesn't even know if it's the brutal slap or the hurtful words her own mother has spilled out that's hurting her dignity; either way, it's not helping her calm down.

"Eonnie, are you okay?"

Wuth all of her small hands' might, she helped her sister up from the floor.

She deeply exhaled, "I'm fine, it's just a slap."

She then decided to laugh it off as it might help not only herself to brush it off but her younger sister as well.

"If Eomma and Appa doesn't like it, Inhye will be okay." The girl looked down sadly, fiddling with her thumbs.

She let out a sad exhale and continued, "Don't say that, never give up on your dreams, Inhye-ah."

She forced a smile and tousled her sister's hair, still with her other hand on her face, feeling the unending pain she got from the 'just a slap' she had excused.

"Eonnie. . ."

More tears started rolling down her face as she silently cried, not wanting her mother to hear her pitiful but annoying voice.

"Please don't leave me, Eonnie." She muffled as her face was buried onto her sister's tight embrace.

"I won't, and I will never ever do that."

Few people stopped by the hallway to see what's all the screaming and yelling are about.

"This is all your fcking fault!" She howled at them as it echoed throughout the hospital's hallway.

"Don't you fcking dare talk to us like that, you little sht!" Her mother hissed not wanting to draw more attention from all the people looking at them.

She cockily smirked, placing her hands on her waist as she leaned back, "What? You're humiliated now, huh?"

"Shut the hell up right now or—"

"Or what?" She looked behind her to see a couple of people looking at her; some are patients, some are doctors, and some are nurses, "The whole world needs to know how you're such money whores!"

Slap. Another strong slap received from her mother. More people turned to them, some of those who were supposed to be doing their works even stopped between their steps to watch the commotion.

Realizing that they're making such scene, the parents stepped back and dramatically exhaled.

"How dare you talk to your mother like that, young lady?" The father asked sternly.

"Oh now you're acting like the good guys here?" She said with a smug smirk on her face and nodded.

"My dear, I gave birth to you, I feed you, give you nice clothes, perfect shelter, enrolled you to the best school— your life is perfect, but why are you doing this to us?" The old woman dramatically said as she turned to her husband with a dismayed expression.

She let out a hearty laugh making the people uncomfortable all of sudden including her parents until she calmed down to turn at them. She stepped forward to them and bent her body to utter two words: "Fck. You." She spit at them as she turned her back from them to strut her way out of the scene but the moment she felt like no one's watching, she burst out crying.

"Is she. . ."

A long pause.

". . . still breathing?"

"Yes, she's still breathing but she's going to die soon."

She was wandering on the hallways with an unsteady gait when she heard familiar voices talking to someone— presumably a doctor so she slowly and carefully positioned herself near the room to eavesdrop.

"When?"

If she's not mistaken, this surely is her mother's voice.

"Approximately about two days from now."

Another long pause.

"Any additional hospital bills?"

"Yes, the child has attained severe damage so the surgery and operation costs about—"

She covered her mouth the moment she gasped, extremely horrified about her sister's condition. She can't believe her little sister is suffering too much pain right now it just breaks her more. She knows she can't live without her. Her whole life will fall apart the moment she's gone.

"I suppose she's just another burden. . ." His father claimed with a disgusted tone in his low, rough voice.

"Just get rid of her, we'll pay you as much as you want as long as you keep your mouth shut, or else—"

A moment of silence followed.

"But why can't you just let her—"

"Aside from the additional bills, she's just another useless being. I'm not going to waste my money for that."

Hearing this, she clenched her fists ever harder blood will spill out anytime.

"Deal. When do you want the child dead?"

"As soon as possible."

She just couldn't take it anymore that this enraged her as if she's going to snap out of her sanity anytime soon so she stormed inside the room charging at everyone inside.

She spit out all the curse words her angry mind could think of and beat them down unconscious. Gritting her teeth together, still furious, she dashed outside the room and hurriedly ran to her sister's room.

"Inhye-ah?" She called out with her now calmed voice as she slowly opened the now unlocked door of her room.

The poor child was still conscious but with her current condition, she looks really awful. She's barely recognizable nor does she look like a human anymore. She looks so destroyed as if a truck has literally run onto her. That is because she got into a car crash. Her terrible parents sent their young and innocent daughter off into a dangerous trip just to claim a billion cash. Of course, as money whores as they were from the start, they wouldn't let this opportunity escape from their gasp.

"Eonnie?" She spoke with a low and weak voice.

The older sister covered her mouth as she carefully sat down beside her sister's bed.

"Are you okay now?"

"I don't know Eonnie," she paused, struggling to breathe more air from her mouth, "but I'm scared."

"Scared of what?"

"I. . ." The child, trying to get oxygen again, looked like she's about to cry now, "I'm scared of dying, Eonnie."

Not even a second has passed; she then started to silently cry leaving her sister in tears too. She couldn't bear the pain her sister's feeling now anymore. She was too desperate to pray, wishing to just be the one in her little sister's place right now. She shouldn't be suffering an excruciating pain at such young age. She'd do anything for her just to see her again in her happy, jolly, cheerful, and optimistic sunshine life but worse than anything, there's nothing to make everything at least 'okay' at this point.

She tried her best to be optimistic so she forced a smile and gently stroked her sister's forehead, "Inhye-ah's not going to die, Inhye will marry Jungmin Oppa, right?" She stammered between her words.

The child just cried even more, not just a cry, but this agonizing wailing that's just far more than pitiful.

"Jungmin Oppa will not like Inhye anymore," she looked at her sister with a pitiful frown, "Inhye is ugly now."

"N-No. . . No, don't say that. Inhye is pretty!"

She struggled to lift her small, weak bandaged hand just to point at her older sister's face, "Eonnie is pretty not Inhye."

"Inhye is the prettiest in the whole world and Jungmin Oppa will love her!" She continued as she tried to smile with her broken expression.

Both of their faces are now smeared with tears as the room gets filled with more rueful weeping.

"Eonnie. . ."

The little child called out like it's her last word.

"Yes, my princess?"

"Inhye knows she can't be a Kpop idol and marry Jungmin Oppa so. . ."

She paused and looked at her sister once again and struggled to hold her hand but instead, her sister did it for her and hold onto her hands tight, never wanting to let go.

"Inhye wants Eonnie to be a Kpop idol and marry Jungmin Oppa!"

With the most optimistic tone she could ever bestow, she tried her hardest to smile even though her face looks so damaged.

"B-But Inhye—"

"Eonnie, please. . ." She struggled once again to hold her sister back tighter than her sister did, "Can you do it for Inhye-ah?" She looked at her with hopeful eyes, tears still falling down.

She couldn't even respond anymore. She's just now mixed with different emotions. Just the way her young sister talks, the way she expresses her suffering, and trying her best to overcome her fear with her optimism— her heart was breaking. She wants to avenge her yet. . .

"Inhye will watch Eonnie from heaven and cheer for Eonnie, okay?"
"Don't be mad to Eomma and Appa. . . Inhye already has forgiven them. . . Just be kind, Eonnie."
"Inhye will also tell the heaven to celebrate when Eonnie marries Jungmin Oppa!" She added.

After a few more wheezes, the older sister tried to make out a sentence but just ends up cracking her voice to cry more, "I-Inhye I-I j-just. . ."

"I love you Eonnie, please don't cry. Inhye-ah will be okay. So Eonnie will not cry and be happy."

She sniffed as she closed her eyes, finally has stopped trying to get more oxygen as she knew, it's tiring and pointless.

"I-Inhye, p-please don't leave me."

With a blink of an eye, the heartbeat monitor turned flatline making her widen her eyes.

"N-No! This is not happening. . ."

Her words trailed off as she felt her sister's cold and lifeless hand in her grasp.

"No! No! No! You're the one who told me to not leave you and now—"

She pulled her and wrapped her warm arms around her little sister and kissed her forehead and rocked her continuously into her arms as she sing a lullaby— her favorite lullaby.
