A Sleepless Study

The classroom/lab was filled with large tables with four or five chairs at each of them, most of the tables were already filled with people. Yugyeom let out a sigh and took his seat at an empty one near to the door. There was a dull hum of chatter from the other students, the tall boy pulled his required reading from his bag and opened the book.
'Understanding the Basics of Organic Chemistry' . He let out a sigh not quite sure he would ever get it but he was certainly going to try his hardest.

The door beside Yugyeom opened and a girl with long, messy looking, black hair entered the room. She glanced around for a second and then took a seat at the table with Yugyeom. He carefully looked up to see this girl; her skin was very pale, she wore a black sweater that was a couple sizes to large for her small frame, and a pair of ripped up blue jeans. She glanced up at him and he noticed she had rather prominent dark circles underneath her eyes. She looked back down to her book, which was the required reading for the class. She had a very large cup, of what appeared to be coffee, beside her.

The door opened again and a middle aged woman walked in, she wore a crisp looking white button up and a pair of slacks.
"Good morning class, I'm Dr. Somun. This is Organic Chemistry. As you can tell from the setup of the class room, this will be all group work. From this moment on you are assigned to these seats and groups, there is no changing. Today's class will be a time for you to get to know your group, please use the time wisely."
With those final words she took a seat at her desk and opened a book.
The hum that had gone silent just after she had entered the room came back full force.

Yugyeom cast a glance at the girl at his table, they were the only ones so they would really have to work together. She looked up from her book and offered him a smile.
"U-um. Hello, my name is Kim Yugyeom." He mentally cursed himself for stuttering over himself, she was really pretty and they were alone.
"Ah, hello. My name is Nam Sora. It's nice to meet you. What's your major?"
"Applied mathematics, my minor is dance."
"That's quite the combination." She chuckled, "I'm a Chemistry major with a minor in Biology; I'm Premed."
"Oh? That's gotta be really time consuming, I applaud you."
She offered him another, tired looking, smile.

"Here, you should have my number that way we can work on assignments and stuff." Yugyeom commented with a slight smile.
"Oh, yeah. Here put yours in." She passed her phone over to him.
"Here ya go." He handed her his phone and took hers.
After a second he had put his number in and saved it, he locked her phone and passed it back to her.
She offered him a sweet looking smile and reached for her cup of coffee.
"Class dismissed." Their professor called from her desk, "We'll be officially starting class on Wednesday."
People started to rise from their desks, Sora quickly packed her things and sent him a wave before quickly leaving the room.

"So how was your first day in O-Chem?" Bambam grinned across from Yugyeom.
"Hm? Oh it was good, I learned that it will be all group work."
"Did you get a good group?" Youngjae asked as he looked up from his soba noodles.
"Well, there's only two of us-but her major is chemistry."
"Her?" Bambam grinned widely.
"Y-yeah?"
"Is she hot?" The fashion major asked, his long fingers tapping on his soda bottle.
"Honestly Bambam..." Jinyoung rolled his eyes as he piped into the conversation for the first time since Yugyeom had arrived.
"What? It's a valid question!"
"You have no same, I swear." Jinyoung commented before focusing his attention to the youngest at the table. "Do you think it will go okay?"
"Yeah, I've finally finished the reading for the semester so I think it will be alright. She's pre-med."
"Really?" Youngjae asked a twinkle in his eye.
"Yeah."

Sora glanced at the bottom right corner of her laptop screen, the time read 8:47. She let out a sigh and reread her introduction paper for her Biochem class.
- BUZZZ
She glanced down at her phone to see the group chat for video game club had come to life again.
"Beginning of term meeting..." She mumbled, "Maybe I could use the relaxation."
She shut her laptop and swung her legs off the edge of the bed. She looked over herself as she sat on the edge of her bed, sweatpants and an old t-shirt probably wasn't acceptable for the meeting. Begrudgingly she stood up and went to her dresser.
She dug through the clothes and settled on just leaving her sports bra on and throwing a hoodie and jean jacket over it. She reached for a pair of jeans that currently littered her floor and pulled them on. She slipped on her converse and pulled on her beanie, she glanced at herself in the mirror. It was only the first day of term and her dark circles were more apparent than ever. She let out a sigh and grabbed her wallet before leaving her room.

The clubs meeting room was dimly lit, the glow of computer screens making up most of the brightness.
"You're going to ruin all of our eyes, Baekhyun-oppa." Sora commented as she flicked the light switch on.
A groans filled the almost empty room.
"Yah! What'd you go and do that for?" The drama major groaned as he looked up from his desktop.
"Oppa, you'll ruin your sight if you keep playing like that." She commented with a chipper smile.
Baekhyun let out a sigh and nodded, taking what she had said seriously. He stood up and smiled at her after a moment.
"Glad to see you, everyone else is on their way. I wasn't sure I'd be able to run that group chat, I don't know how Heechul-hyung did it..."
The pair thought fondly back to their old club president who had turned the joy over to Baekhyun
once he had graduated the semester before.
Sora shrugged and went to log into one of the computers.
"League?" She questioned as she typed her user into the computer.
"I thought that would be a good warm up."
"Okay."

The door to the computer lab opened and Jeon Jungkook walked in and took a seat beside Sora after bowing to his elders.
"Sora-ssi," He commented.
Sora knew that he was nervous around girls but she had managed to get him to talk to her casually.
"Jungkookie," She replied with a grin on her face.
He shook his head and rolled his eyes.
"How was first day of term?" She questioned as she entered her Summoner name.
"It went well, what about yours?"
"Decently well, I will offer you a suggestion. If you don't like group work don't take Organic Chemistry with Somun. It's all group work....I learned that today?"
"Do you think your group will work out? Or do you think they'll use you because your a Chemistry major?"
"I think it will be fine, the guy in my group seems pretty alright."
"Oh, just one other person?"
"Yeah. He's an Applied Mathematics major."
"So is my roommate, he's pretty good at stuff like that. Maybe if he is your partner will be too."
"Hopefully." Sora said as she began playing.

Yugyeom carefully watched the door for Sora, he was hoping she would be there class was officially supposed to start. The door opened and much to his relief he saw his partner come into class.
She wore a pair of pastel pink scrubs, her hair in twin braids. She was carrying a cup of coffee with her, she wore a pair of black converse with her scrubs which made him smile.
"Sorry, it hasn't started...right?" She questioned as she quickly set her things down on the lab table.
"No, she's not even here yet? You work at the...hospital?"
"Hm? Oh! I forgot I was still in these..." She chuckled sheepishly and rubbed the back of her neck, "I do clinic hours at the Children's Hospital a few days a week."
"That's amazing." Yugyeom said, his eyes widening.
"Ah, here she comes." Sora commented as she pulled out a large notebook and three pens of varying colors.

"Why do you keep sighing?" Jungkook asked, almost irritably.
"What are you talking about?" Yugyeom defended from his bed as he poured over his Organic Chemistry text book.
"You've been sighing the entire time you've been reading that text book. What gives?"
"My lab partner is really amazing....I keep thinking about her and it's starting to distract me more and more."
"So.....you have a crush on her?"
"What? No!" The math major defended, his voice raising.
"Pfft...Yeah. Right?"
"I don't! She-"
"Oh. I believe you." Jungkook snickered.
Yugyeom rolled his eyes and tried to ignore the Computer Science major beside him.
