Marriage Is Happiness

After 15 minutes of driving, we arrived into the Seoul city. Daehyun oppa parked the car in the garage and we walked up to the restaurant. Oppa held onto my hand because he knew that i was nervous in meeting our families again. I smiled at him knowing that it's going to be okay because he’s there next to me. And of course, i was a bit embarrassed of the scar on my forehead from this morning. Everyone was there waiting for us. They were all surprised to see us together holding hands. We took our seats next to each other and the whole family began to ask us a bunch of questions.

Sooah (*asks Yoori) : Honey, what's wrong with your forehead ?

Everyone looks at me making me even more nervous. Then i began to say…

Yoori : Oh. I just had a little accident this morning. Its nothing to worry about.
Daehyun : she was captivated by my handsomeness and hit her head against the dresser.
Yoori (*says to Daehyun) : that wasn't entirely true.
Minwoo (*says to Daehyun & Yoori) : i see that you two are getting along really well now.
Daehyun (*says with a smile) : of course we are.
Chaeyoung (*asks) : how was the first night living or sleeping together ?
Daehyun : Mom. there’s kids around.
Hyemi : oh it's okay. We all want to know about you two.
Yoori (*says politely) : it was great, thank you for asking.
Sangyong (*asks Chaeyoung) : do we have to get together every weekend for lunch with the entire family ?
Sooah (*asks) : why do you ask ?
Sangyong : We all do have work during the week and the only free time we have is the weekend to ourselves.
Sangyong : taking up a day to spend together, both of our families, mean that we are losing a day.
Minwoo : that's all the time that you need son.
Jangmi : Oppa is right. I spend a lot of time in Med School during the week.
Jangmi : I would like to have some free time on the weekends to hang out with my friends.
Dahee : they have a point.
Dahee : As much as i love spending time with you all, i have a schedule that i have to go to.
Dahee : i'm almost debuting with a group very soon and time is on the line.
Hyunwoo : i also want to spend time with my kids on the weekends and go on trips.
Chaeyoung (*asks Daehyun & Yoori) : what do you two think ?
Daehyun : i’ll leave this one up to Yoori to tell you guys.
Chaeyoung : Yoori.
Yoori : everyone here is being honest and speaking the truth.
Yoori : I think you, as parents, should seek out your kids.
Yoori : If it's what we all want and come to an agreement then we should not meet every weekend.
Sooah (*asks) : your alternatives ?
Yoori : holidays and events, we’ll eventually see each other then.
Yoori : There will also be family emergencies which we definitely have to be there for each other always.
Minwoo : let’s do that then.
Chaeyoung : okay. We won't see each other every weekend then.
Sooah : everyone here has to promise to meet on holidays, events, and family emergencies then.

Everyone agreed on the spot. The food came out and we all started to eat. After eating, we talked to each other and got to know the family more. Then Aeyoung’s daughter, Jaeun, says to her mom…

Jaeun (*says to Aeyoung) : mom. I need to go to the restroom.
Aeyoung : okay. I’ll take you.
Yoori (*tells Aeyoung) : i’ll take her. You go ahead and finish your food.
Aeyoung : alright. Thank you Yoori.
Yoori : oh, it's nothing.
Yoori (*asks Jakyung) : do you need to go too ?
Jakyung (*replies) : no. i want to look at the fishes.
Yoori : you can come with us. We can go look at it on the way back.
Jaeun (*says with excitement) : yay !

I turn my head to Daehyun’s nieces and ask them…

Yoori (*asks Soyi & Sojung) : do you girls want to come too ??
Sojung (*says with excitement) : i want to !
Soyi (*says without looking at Yoori) : i’ll go because of Sojung not because i want to.
Yoori : fine with me.
Yoori (*says to Jaeun, Jakyung, Soyi, and Sojung in excitement) : let’s go !

I held onto Jaeun and Jakyung’s hands on both of my sides. Sojung held onto Jakyung’s hand. Soyi was right behind us following. I took Jaeun to the restroom first then to where the fish tanks were at the front.

Daehyun’s POV.
I smiled when i saw Yoori take the girls to the fish tank. They looked like they were having a good time looking at the fishes. I could tell in Yoori’s eyes that she loved her nieces and my nieces too. She wanted to take good care of them. She was happy being around family. I sat there thinking that i was the luckiest guy on earth to marry someone like Yoori. She's not just kind and hardworking but she loves her family a lot. And she sure shows it. While doing so, my mom says…

Chaeyoung : Yoori seems to like kids.
Aeyoung : she loves my two daughters very much. She tries to spend most her time with them.
Sooah : since Yoori lives here in Seoul, she mostly takes care of Jaeun and Jakyung.
Aeyoung : she does everything to take good care of them.
Mae : i remember. There was a time when she was so busy with work that she brought the girls to work.
Mae : she did work in her office while looking after the girls there too.
Sooah : Yoori has dedicated most of her life for the girls.
Minwoo : Yoori is a good girl and she knows everything that she's taught.
Sooah (*asks Daehyun) : have you thought about having kids someday ?
Daehyun : i have. I want at least 3 kids.
Sooah (*asks) : have you talked to Yoori about having kids ?
Daehyun : not yet. I plan on talking to her about it very soon.
Minwoo : that's good son.

While looking at the fishes, Soyi says to me which made me a little shock coming from a 14 year old girl...

Soyi : you know. Just because you married my uncle Dae, doesn't mean that you're my aunt.
Yoori : but i am your aunt no matter who you think i am.
Soyi : my uncle Dae was fine before meeting you.
Yoori (*asks) : you think i wanted this ?
Yoori : it was all arranged but as soon as it happened, i fell for your uncle. I care for him.
Yoori : i don't blame you for hating me and you can hate me all you want but it doesn't change anything.
Yoori : i'm going to say this once. i really want to be your aunt like who i am towards Jaeun and Jakyung.
Yoori : you four are my nieces and i care about you a lot, equally.
Yoori (*says to Sojung, Jaeun, Jakyung) : let’s go girls ! back to the table.

I took the girls back to the table where everyone remained. We all stayed at the restaurant for the next 30 minutes to hang out with each other and headed home. While Oppa was driving us home from the family gathering, he says…

Daehyun : you're awfully quiet.
Yoori : i'm just thinking about what Soyi said to me earlier.
Daehyun (*asks) : did she say something bad to you ?
Yoori : she hates the idea of me being your wife and her new aunt.
Daehyun (*asks) : what did you tell her ?
Yoori : i said that no matter what she thinks of me, i want to be her aunt and i care about her.
Daehyun (*asks) : and her response ?
Yoori : she stayed quiet, no response back.
Daehyun : WOW.
Yoori (*asks) : what ?
Daehyun : normally when someone says something like that to Soyi, she argues back or talk back to you.
Daehyun : it's just strange that she didn't talk back to you.
Yoori : i think i know what her problem is, i mean what's going on in her life.
Daehyun (*asks) : what are you thinking ?
Yoori : it seems like her mom works a lot and Soyi wants to spend time with her mom and sister.
Yoori : she misses that and needs a mom by her side.
Yoori : i once felt that when i lost my dad.
Daehyun (*asks) : how did you overcome it ?
Yoori : my brother became the dad in our family after that. He took care of us like our dad did.
Daehyun : i'm worried for Soyi and what she can become when she's older.
Daehyun : i'm not afraid of the little one (Sojung) so much.
Yoori : i might not know Soyi well but i feel like she will turn into a beautiful smart women one day.
Yoori : she’ll get through this with her mom.
Daehyun : lets just pray for that.

I smiled at Oppa and he continued on driving.
