A New Beginning
Chapter Two
I wouldn't admit it to my brother but I was secretly happy with the arrangements that he had made for me. I was touched that he was trying his best to make me happier. I currently sat in front of my laptop as I wasted away in the black whole that is called the internet. In all honesty I was actually sitting in a very comfy recliner with a blanket and a cup of coffee, which was one of the best things in the mornings, and the black whole sitting on my lap actually wasn't that bad, instead it was an open page of youtube that I was finding new music on. I had slightly diverted from my music search and I was now watching Keone and Mari dance videos. On the side panel I noticed a video from the boys that I had met the day before, curiosity had me clicking on the video.
The video started to play with the one known as Namjoon asking if it was the viewers first time to Bangtan, I had to chuckle at the fact that indeed it was my first time and I briefly wondered if that was a coincidence or if all of their music videos started out like that. When the video was over I found myself playing to the next one which was equally as interesting. Pop music had never interested me and therefore I had never actually looked into the world that I was coming to understand as kpop. Their dances were intricate and well practiced, I could tell that some of the boys were better practiced but it was clear that they had all put in a lot of time learning the dance steps. On several occasions I found myself closing my eyes so that I could just simply listen to their melodious voices. I was surprised that even the rapping, something I had never liked before, was holding my interest. My favorite had to be the deep voice that Taehyung had as he sung, I was surprised by how many octaves lower it seemed to drop than his regular everyday voice that I had heard yesterday.
Before I knew it I had been sucked into the void and when I glanced at the time I realized that I was going to be late to the meeting Keone had set up for me with another acrobatic dancer. I rushed out the door grabbing my bags and heading to the street to catch a cab. We were supposed to be meeting in a small cafe that was located close to the Big Hit studio, I didn't want to bring him to the studio yet because despite the fact that I had just received the room it was mine and I didn't want to bring someone to it yet, especially if we decided that we couldn't work together. I sighed at how over dramatic I was being but for some reason I couldn't help it. It was easy to dance with anyone as long as they were well trained and knew what they were doing but after everything that went down with Zach I was finding it difficult to be willing to trust another person.
When the cab pulled up to the curb I slid my card through the card reader and then stepped out onto the sidewalk. With a deep breath I walked into the cafe and glanced around looking for JunHo, he was already sitting in the corner of the shop. Upon seeing me he raised his hand as a greeting and motioned me to come sit across from him. "Hi there Analyn, I've heard so much about you from Keone."
"Oh, um... Keone hasn't told me all that much about you. Sorry."
"No thats all good. I didn't expect him to. He seemed really proud of you so he was bragging more or less." he chuckled and took a drink as I rolled my eyes at my idiot brother. "In all seriousness though I guess we should start talking business. I haven't had a permanent partner for a while but I have been doing small things here and there."
"You are looking for a permanent partner right? I don't particularly like to do temporary partners."
He let out a slightly high pitched laugh "Nah girl, I have to settle down and stick to one person. It just makes life easier."
"That's great." I was surprised by how relaxed I now felt especially after this mornings nerves. I gave him an awkward smile knowing that the next part of our conversation would be extremely weird "Um... Just to make things clear I know that dance partners tend to develop feelings for each other, especially with our genre, but I am not actually interested in that kind of thing."
He laughed again "I thought that out of anything Keone would have told you that I am not interested in women at all."
"Oh...?" I gave him a confused look before it clicked in my head "oh! OH!!" My cheeks lit up in a bright red blush and my hand smacked against my forehead. "I feel like an idiot. Im sorry, I just ended up falling for my last partner and discovered just why that dynamic does not work."
"It's all right, I get it. It's not like its that widely accepted here in Korea so people don't ever really think about it and why would you, it's not like I was playing on the stereotypes." he leaned close to me as if he was telling me a secret but actually stage whispered rather loudly "Keone is more of my type anyways." he gave that slightly high pitched laugh again and winked at me.
I gave him a smile and grabbed ahold of his hands "Thank you. I would really appreciate it if you would become my partner."
"I don't know why you are thanking me but you're welcome and of course I will be your partner, although I don't know how you are going to throw and catch me."
My smile dropped and my eyes grew wide "Ah- um- no- no, I didn't realize-"
He burst out laughing again "I was just messing with you I didn't expect that from a tiny thing like you."
I rolled my eyes at his antics but I at least found them amusing. "How about I take you to go and see the studio."
Our walk to the studio was short and filled with laughter. Upon seeing the logo on the building he did a little happy dance that made it seem like he was a young child who had to go to the bathroom. He was so excited that he would be working in an area that made it possible for him to meet famous idols. As we made our way to the dance studio I found myself laughing and pulling him along as he fan-girled and stopped to stare at the various posters. I swear the walk to the studio took longer than the one from the coffee shop to the building. Once we were finally at the studio we plopped down our bags and began to undress so that we could put on some proper acro clothes. When I started undressing in the middle of the room instead of behind the partition I had not been expecting the door to swing open.
Jimin's hand was holding the door open as he froze in place, behind him I noticed Namjoon and some others who I had not made out all the way as I dropped to a crouch to hide that I was only in a sports bra and underwear.
