You With The False Image

Chapter 7

Jungkook's POV

"What are you talking about?" Woori's voice was barely a whisper.

Her eyes were focused on me and unwavering as she questioned me. It was true that she didn't know what I was talking about. I wasn't present for that project at all so she wouldn't have even known that I was in her group.

I recalled the day one of the other group members called to tell me about the group plans.

"Woori's in our group, we're going to do it ourselves and not include her name on it." He had said to me.

Back then, I didn't have much to say about our group work. I was busy with promotions, and the project didn't really affect my grade. As long as they were okay with me doing less work, I was okay with anything they had planned.

That was until I saw Woori in the classroom the night before the due date. Her head was down and she had rows of textbooks around her as she worked on the music theory paper. That night, I didn't question it. I knew who Woori was, and her reputation wasn't one that I should be paying attention to.

To my surprise, on the morning of the due date, Woori was the one that handed the paper in. She shot the members a glare out of the corners of her eyes and slammed the stack of paper on the teacher's desk.

"I did this, I finished all of this." She had said, jabbing her thumb into her chest. "Some group you assigned me to, they did nothing!"

When the group marks came back, The other group mates had a good laugh. They pointed at Woori's name and giggled to themselves while the one who did all the work, stood there in silence. A cloud of disappointment stood over her as she looked at the unfairly marked project, but she didn't complain. She couldn't, no one would listen.

"Why did you put up with that kind of treatment?" I asked her now in the silence of the studio. "That project could've saved your grades."

"You were in my group?" She scoffed and stood up, almost knocking the plate of nearly finished food off the table. "I figured you were that type of person."

I stared at her. "What do you mean?"

Woori snickered and shook her head. She tucked her hair behind her ear and sat back down with a small sigh.

Somehow, a rush of guilt rushed through my body. I wanted to say other wise, to say that I wasn't a part of it, and that she deserved more, but nothing came out.

"It's fine you know." Her voice was soft. "It's not like that was the first time I was marked zero."

The weight of guilt increased by tenfold. I turned around and faced the sheet music again, this time using it as a source of distraction. Behind me, Woori grew silent. Her quiet breathing was the only thing that could be heard in the room besides the ticking of the clock on the wall.

Tick tock tick tock.
It marked the time that was passing, drawing it out as if it would be years before a minute would pass. I pressed my eyes shut and tried to focus on the music before me, using every inch of my body to stop myself from recalling the past.

But despite me not calling it, it called me.

It was my fault
, it had always been, my fault.

-----
Woori's POV

Without knowing, I somehow fell asleep in the studio room. I had thought that maybe Jungkook would wake me up, but the one that did wasn't him.

"Oppa!" My voice was filled with sleep.

"Oh," Yoongi looked surprised to see me awake. He retracted his hand quickly and stood up abruptly. "You're awake."

"What were you doing?" I asked, rather suspicious.

Yoongi's pale face weas glowing even in the somewhat dark room. He stood up from his crouched position and walked to his seat behind the studio audio board.

"I-I was going to wake you up." He felt the need to answer after a long moment of silence, even if it did sound as if he was trying to convince himself.

"I'm awake now." I held back the urge to laugh.

"Right, you are." He grumbled.

Silence.

I raised an eyebrow as I studied the back of his head, his broad shoulders and the hand where his thumb was scratching against the tip of his pen. The pen was drawing ink marks along his finger, over and over again. Yoongi was nervous.

Not wanting to trouble him as he worked. I looked around the room, my eyes lingering on the window. A white mesh curtain hung over it not really serving it's purpose of blocking any light from the outside, not that there was any light-

"What the fuck!" I yelled out, nearly toppling out of my seat.

He turned around in surprise at the sudden noise. "What?"

"Oppa, what time is it?"

He raised an eyebrow then turned on his phone to check. "10:32, why?"

"FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!" I cursed and stuffed my stuff into my bag.

"What is it?" Yoongi was laughing at me.

"My part time, I'm so late."

Yoongi's brows furrowed and his face darkened. "You took a night shift?"

I said nothing. I knew he was against me working late, just as I was to him doing so.

"Woori," His voice became deep and serious. "Quit."

"You quit." I spat back and stood up with my bag slung behind my shoulders.

"Woori-"

"See you later Oppa." I waved a hand at him as I left the room and closed the door with a small click. In the hallway, I couldn't help but hold back a smile as I ran for the bus stop. It was nice that he cared, even if he had always done so.

I got an earful from my boss when I ran into the convenience store. He was all dressed up and was probably in a rush to go somewhere. I never had a long conversation with my boss, to be honest I didn't even know what he did besides owning this run down store. Eventually, he gave up lecturing me, as most adults do, and left me to tend to the shop. With a long exaggerated sigh, I stood behind the counter, arms propped against my cheek, and waited for the hours to tick by.

It was a long night, as per usual, there were no customers in the dead of night and I was grateful for that. That being said, I may have dozed off sometime around 5 a.m.

The next morning, my boss woke me up in the most painful way ever. A let out a scream as the ice cold water washed down my back and jolted awake by retreating back to the wall.

"Are you sleeping on the job?" He growled. His hair was a different colour than it had been last night.

"I-"

He held up a hand, evidently not wanting to hear what I had to say. "Go to school, you're going to be late.

I didn't argue, although I didn't want to admit it, he was right. While rushing to school my mind filled with ideas for our project. Nothing could get in my way now, I will make sure i finish it-

I cursed under my breath as I reached the front door. No.

My bag, was flat and light. I had forgotten to bring my laptop.

Before I could do anything, a hand grabbed my by the wrist and spun me around. Jungkook's confident, hazel eyes stared down at me, his lips held in a firm line.

"You're coming with me today."

I blinked and stood my ground. "What?"

I watched him struggle with the words as his eyes darted to the black van that stood behind him. Through the dark glass, I could see Yoongi's pale face, looking in our direction, along with the faces of the other members.

Were they heading to a schedule?

"You're going to work while I'm on schedule, by my side." Jungkook said firmly, his grip on my wrist hardened. "I'm not going to let you work alone again."
