EXO Undercover

“Oh, you!” Chanyeol exclaimed. “Nice seeing you again, June!” Just like every other day, the school’s lunch line for the usual rice, cabbage soup, and veggies was long, stretching to one side of the cafeteria to the other. I wish we had beef more often.

“Hello! Chanyeol and Kyungsoo, right?” June questioned. Ah, it’s these two again. The tall chatterbox and the quiet penguin.

“Aye! That’s right! Which homeroom are you in?”

“Homeroom 305.”

“Cool! Well, we’re both in homeroom 302! We must be in the same grade!”

“No poop, Sherlock,” Kyungsoo remarked. After a thorough discussion on homeroom teachers- Chanyeol clearly pointed out that his was the best- the trio parted ways. Chanyeol went to visit some of his fangirls and Kyungsoo made his way to the rooftop after buying a soft drink at the vending machine. With both hands full, he slammed the rooftop door open. Instead of a bang, he heard a bump.

“Ow!” someone yelled. Kyungsoo’s eyes widened as he went to see who was behind the door.

“Oh my gosh! I’m so, so, so sorry. Are you okay?” he asked June, looking down at her. With her back toward the wall, and her body sitting on the floor, she rubbed her soon-to-be-bruised knee.
“It’s fine. I just need to massage it, that’s all.”

“Oh, thank goodness.” He handed her his cold drink as an apology as he carefully sat down next to her. “So,” Kyungsoo said, unsure if she was okay with his presence or not, “what are you doing here?”

“I like to maintain a low profile.”

“I do, too.”

“Really? I thought you would be in with Chanyeol.”

“He likes to visit the Chanyeol-is-mine squad every now and then. Erm, don’t you have girl friends to be with?” Kyungsoo made eye contact with June, who stared at the floor. “Oh! I’m not implying that you have no friends, I’m just wondering if you hang out with anyone. Well, if you have anyone, which I’m sure you do. Sorry, if I offended you. Sorry.”

June laughed it out, breaking the ice, “It’s fine. I do have some but they prefer to flirt around. I guess you could say the Chanyeol-is-mine squad isn’t for me either.”

“I’m glad we have something in common.” Kyungsoo and June smiled at each other before blushing. They continued eating together, chatting, till the bell rang.



“So, you’re June?” June had finished reading Ms Song’s long, printed 12-page message about the chores needed to be done and what to be aware of, such as the security system and the boys. Well, she almost did. A tall boy snatched the packet and threw it behind him onto the floor. A bit startled, she nodded her head.

“Kris!” another, but smaller and more feminine, boy sat down next to her on the couch and patted her, “Go easy on our new sweetheart. I’m Luhan. Nice to meet you!”

“I’m June. Nice to meet you, too.” Surrounding her were several, unfamiliar boys. “May I know the rest of your names?”

“I’m Tao,” he pointed to the last unintroduced boy, “he’s Lay. He’s not fluent in English but he tries his best.”

“Hello, hello! 我叫芸興!” Lay handed her the packet Kris had tossed, beaming.

“His Chinese name is Yixing,” Tao translated.

“I finished showering!” Chanyeol bounded down the stairs with a towel wrapped around his shoulders. “Oh, ho! Hello again, June! I see you’ve met our Chinese unit!”

“Chinese unit?” June questioned.

“Yep! I don’t think you saw them during your first visit here. They mostly work in Shanghai, Beijing, and Nanjing. They’re from China, anyway, but they live with us-”

“Chanyeol,” Kris addressed, “stop talking for now. Well, June, I think you should start working.”

“Are you going to dress up in a maid outfit?” Luhan squealed, “That would be so adorable!”

“Uh,” June mumbled, “I-I don’t think it’s necessary-”

“Let’s go buy a dress!”
“连衣裙很可爱！我们现在买！好了，好了！”
“Lay agrees.”
“I think I saw Baekhyun putting it on.”
“What if she didn’t wear anything-”

“Hello, boys!” Coming from another bedroom, Chen escorted Baekhyun down the stairs to the first floor where the stunned group was. Baekhyun was dressed in maid costume that was obviously too small for him. He blushed and played with the frills at the end of his skirt. “How do I look?”

“I think Baek looks cute, you guys!” Chen giggled.

“Wow.” Chanyeol mouth gaped open, “You’re prettier than I thought.” Baekhyun playfully slapped Chanyeol’s shoulder after saying, “Oh, I don’t know.”

“You look nice!” Lay clapped his hands together, “他很漂亮！我喜欢。”

“Lay said that you look pretty and that he likes it,” Tao translated again.

“Is that supposed to be June’s?” Kris stifled a laugh.

“I don’t need to wear an outfit to work,” June stated.

“But you can!” Luhan protested, “It belongs to her, anyway.”

“It's not hers anymore,” Chen pointed out, “Say, where are the others?”

“Working, which is what we should all be doing. Everyone go to your rooms.” Kris commanded, “Except for June. You should start tidying this place.”

“Okay, dad,” Baekhyun and Chen pouted as they stormed off to take the now-torn dress. The group dispersed, leaving June alone to begin cleaning. Well, she thought to herself, that happened.
