Forgotten Memories

Don't Forget Me

While I was in America, I made a lot of new friends but every year they would either drift away from me or move away. Except for one guy named Jung Yoonoh. We've been best friends ever since we met. (Does that make sense?) We were best friends for four years. When I was fifteen and Yoonoh was sixteen, Yoonoh was going to move back to Korea.
All of our friends were at the airport saying goodbye to Yoonoh and wishing him good luck in Korea. I was the last one to say goodbye. Everyone was smiling except for me. I was looking down trying my best to keep my tears from falling. When it was my turn to say goodbye to him, I couldn't look up. I couldn't even look at him in the eyes because I was afraid of breaking down in front of him.
"Goodbye." I said quietly while still looking down at the ground.
"EunA," He said. I hummed in response but didn't look up at him. "Look at me." He said. I shook my head. "EunA, look at me." He said again. I slowly looked up at him, for the first time today. "If you don't want me to leave, I can stay here with you." He said. I shook my head immediately.
"No, it's your dream to become an idol." I said.
"Please board flight KA0214, America to Korea." (I don't know, don't judge me.) Yoonoh looked at his parents then back at me.
"I have to go." He said then held up a small box. "This is probably the last gift that I'm going to give you." He said while handing me the box. "Don't forget me, okay?" He asked me one last time before leaving. "Thank you for being such a great friend. Thank you for being there when I needed you." He said while patting my head. I closed my eyes and let the tear roll down my cheeks. "If we're lucky, we'll see each other again." He said then kissed my cheek. "Goodbye, for now." He said then got his luggage and walked over to his parents. He looked at me for the last time and smiled. "Don't cry, I hate it when you cry. Smile." He said.
I wiped my tears away and tried my best to smile for him. His smile widened then turn back around and got in line. Once the plane he was on took off, everyone started to leave the airport. I was the last one to leave. I sat down on one of the benches, that was outside, waiting for my Uber to come pick me up. I looked at the silver box that Yoonoh gave me. I opened the box and found a necklace with blue flowers. (Imagineit blue.) Yoonoh knows everything about me, except for one thing. He is my first love. I never had the courage to tell him that I liked him, and now, he's gone. I sat there thinking about what we did together for the past four years. Those four years reminded me a little bit of Sicheng. I left Sicheng nine years ago and now Yoonoh left me. I took out the necklace and placed it around my neck. I hope we get to see each other again. I thought to myself. I saw my Uber driver so I got up and went into the car. While I was in the car, I was looking through the pictures that I had of us. While I was looking through our pictures, I got a text.
Yoonoh<3
I opened the text message and read the text he sent me.
Are you still smiling?
Yeah.
I don't believe you, send me a picture.
I smiled slightly and turned on the camera. I quickly snapped a picture of me smiling in the Uber and sent it to Yoonoh.
Happy?
You may be smiling but your eyes are telling me that you're hurt, what's wrong?
Nothing's wrong.
Don't lie to me, EunA, I know when something's wrong.
I'm fine, really, but it might be because my best friend left me and there's a possibility of not seeing him again.
You'll see me again, we'll video chat everyday.
Video chat everyday? With your training and school, are you able to video chat with me everyday?
I'll figure something out, don't worry.
Make sure you get enough sleep. Don't stay up just because of me.
You too, I don't want you to stay up for me. I have to go, I'll text you later.
Okay, call me when you land in Korea.
Okay.
My smile faded a little. My Uber driver stopped in front of my house. I thanked him then got out of the car. I opened the door to my house then walked in. "I'm home." I said while walking into my room.
"Honey, your father and I have something to tell you." My mother said while smiling.
