Bonding Desire

Chapter 9

“Something’s not right here.” Everyone looked at Jungkook. The initial shock of learning about my past pregnancy was gone, but I still felt numb inside. The boys continued to comfort me despite not truly understanding what I was going through. “I don’t understand why we’re not remembering the same things. Some of the memories just aren’t clicking together.”
“What do you mean?” Jimin asked.
“Our last memory in the old world was Cathleen working in her lab, and that’s what supposedly got us here, but there’s no way that would happen.”
“That’s a pretty big predicament to make there Jungkook,” Namjoon reasoned.
“Old world or new world, I would never let my pregnant fiancé be around toxic chemicals no matter what. On top of that, we are supposed to be the same people just in a different world. Wouldn’t that mean that allergies and other things would be consistent? Cathleen isn’t allergic to cinnamon, but I have a memory that she is. It just doesn’t make sense.”
“Well there’s no way to know for sure if she was or not in the old world. All we have is your memories, and they say that she was. Maybe you aren’t the exact same person you were in the old world.” Everyone glanced at Yoongi.
"Kookie’s right. Some things don’t connect,” Jimin continued, ignoring his hyung.
“Does it matter? Can’t we just ignore the old world, and live your own lives in the new world?” Jin interjected.
“Well of course. But where’s the fun in that?” I smirked.
“But wait...”
“What now?” I asked as we all looked at Jungkook.
“Am I forgiven?”
“Oh, I forgave you days ago. I told you I just needed time.” The boys snickered.
“Jagi!”
“Yes Kookie?” I blinked my eyes innocently.
“Aish I can’t get mad at you.”
“Where did Suga go?”
“Said he had a phone call to make.”
“What about Namjoon?”
“Said he had a phone call to answer.”

Unknown

“What do you mean they’re getting suspicious? I thought you made it discrete!”
“I did, but sir, they’re not idiots. Anyone would’ve seen the inconsistencies in the memories.”
“Then obviously you didn’t do a good job,” he growled.
“I did the best I could with the resources I had. I’m not a mastermind sir.”
“Get out of my sight. I need time to think of what we should do next.” I bowed before walking out of the room. I subconsciously roamed the familiar maze of halls, not having a specific destination in mind. How could I get these two out of this mess? If I turned him in, I would be killed. If I didn’t, Cathleen and Jungkook’s lives could be ruined. Finally, with the decision made, I had my destination. The exit door. This man would go down. I would no longer take his calls or do his dirty work.

Cathleen

I paced the room pondering what it all meant. Why was the voice different this time? And why did it feel so familiar?
“Jagi, you’re going to wear a hole into the floor with how much you’re pacing.”
“Why did the voice actually talk to me this time? And it was a male. The past few times it’s been a female, and all she said were a few words. He was actually having a conversation with me. Well, a one sided conversation. Plus, I recognize the voice from somewhere. I just can’t remember where.”
“Jin! They’re doing it again! Being all secretive and telepathic.”
“Tae, I’m sure they’re just whispering dirty thoughts to each other.” Both of our faces grew bright red. “See? Seems like enough evidence to conclude that I’m right.”
“You’re not right at all hyung,” Jungkook grumbled.
“Yeah, you’re wrong hyung,” Jimin smirked.
“See even Jimin agr-”
“Obviously they were continuing what they were doing last night.” Our eyes widened and our faces grew more red. The guys just laughed at our reactions.
“What are you talking about?” Jungkook finally sputtered.
“Well now we know what you guys were doing last night!”
“You mean you were just joking around?!”
“I just wanted to see if maybe you two had "done the deed", and it seems you have! Last night at that! You’re faces reveal everything!” The four guys were on the floor in tears.
“We were not doing that last night, and we have not “done the deed”,” Jungkook seethed.
“Just leave it. Those four are hopeless. They can’t get any of their own so they just mess with us to make themselves feel better,” I smirked. We both laughed at the looks horror on their faces.
“I could get some if I tried,” Jimin argued.
“Aren’t you still a virgin?” His face grew red.
“How the heck does your girlfriend know I’m a virgin?!”
“Hey, I can’t control what comes out of her mouth. I just pray I’m not on the receiving end of what she says.” My phone began to buzz as the guys continued to quarrel. I scrunched my eyebrows at the number.
“Unknown number?” Jimin asked.
“Answer it!”
“No, it could be a stalker fan,” Jungkook opposed.
“It’s not like they’ll know it’s her if she doesn’t talk.” I hit the green button, and held the phone to my ear.
“How nice of you to answer my call the first time.” That voice. It was the voice that spoke to me weeks ago. My face paled.
“Cathleen put it on speaker. Now,” Jungkook demanded. I ignored him
“Is that your little Kookie I hear?”
“What do you want from me?” I tried my best to keep my voice from shaking.
“Oh dear, you don’t have to do anything for me, except behave and do what you’re told.”
“And what if I don’t?”
“Well I don’t think you want all of your friends and family to be in danger do you?”
“I don’t have any family. And you can’t touch my friends.”
“You don’t have a family? Are you sure about that?”
“My mother is dead, and I don’t have a father.”
“Surely you do. Everyone has a mother and father.”
“I don’t have a father,” I said, clenching my teeth.
“What a shame. I was really looking forward to meeting my daughter.” I froze.
“Then why don’t you.” The front I had put on crumbled, and fear began resonated through every word I spoke.
“Well she doesn’t see me as her father, so I highly doubt she wants to see me.” It couldn’t be. Why would he call me? How did he get my number?
“Father?”
“Oh look who’s a smart girl! You must’ve gotten your mother’s knowledge. Now, listen carefully dear. I need you to be a good girl, and give Daddy a little present.
“I already told you. I don’t have a father.”
“Ah ah, don’t be like that cupcake.”
“Don’t call me that.”
“You don’t even know what I want yet, how could you be so opposed to it?”
“What do you want?” My voice was shaking.
“All daddy wants, is a little grandchild. Preferably a boy. And Jungkook must be the father. Can you do that for me?”
“Even if I did you would never be allowed near him,” I seethed.
“Now it doesn’t matter if you let me or not. You have one week. Just do what you’re told and no one gets hurt.” I heard a small click, and the line went dead.
“Cat-” I held up my hand to cut Jungkook off. I glanced around and saw that Namjoon and Yoongi had joined the others while I was on the phone.
“It was my father.” Everyone’s eyes went wide.
“What does he want?”
“How did he get your number?”
“He wants me to have a child. With Jungkook.”
“WHAT?!” All of the boys exclaimed at once.
“He’s a mass murderer Cathleen. A mad man. You can’t listen to him,” Jin said.
“You think I don’t know that Jin?!” The panic was starting to kick in.
“If we knew his location, we could call the police,” Tae suggested.
“And how do you suppose we figure that out? Oh hold on, let’s just call him back and ask him,” Yoongi snapped.
“Calm down Yoongi. He’s just trying to help,” Namjoon sighed. “There’s nothing we can do right now, except wait.”
“You’re not actually going to have a baby, right?”
“No,” Jungkook and I answered sternly.
“We’re not even married, or even ready to be married, let alone have a kid.”
“Jungkook’s right,” Jin added. “If you two had a child, who knows what would happen. Especially with the fans.”
“I have a friend who owns tracking equipment. If he calls again we can track his location,” Hoseok blurted out.
“Well isn’t that convenient,” Yoongi said dryly.
“Except I just remembered he moved to Australia.” Yoongi snorted.
“Can we just move on and ignore him? Just don’t answer your phone when he calls you, and forget all about him,” Jin suggested
“That seems easier said than done.”
“Doesn’t hurt to try it.”

A Week Later

“Kookie! You have to start the mixer on a low speed before turning it up faster!” I laughed and shook my head at the powder covered man in front of me. My phone began to buzz, and I pulled it out of my apron pocket. Unknown. It had been a week since he called the first time. I guess my “time” was up. I hit the power button to stop the buzzing, and slid it back into my pocket. Jin was right. Just forget about it and move on.
“Who was it?” Jungkook asked as he walked back into the kitchen.
“No one important. If they need something they can just leave a voicemail. Now, what are we supposed to do about this cake? There's more powder on you than in the batter,” I snorted.
“I guess we can just start over,” he smirked. My phone began to buzz again. “If they’re calling again you should take it. It’s ok, I can wait for you.”
“I don’t wanna take it,” I sighed.
“Are you sure it’s no one important?”
“Yes Kookie, I’m sure. Let’s just get this cake done.”

Unknown

So this is how we’re going to be? Ignoring my calls? You can’t make me go away by forgetting about me Cathleen. I threw on my long black coat and flipped up the hood. She didn’t take my threats seriously. Only one way to fix that. Taehyung was his name? He’ll be first. And one by one, they’ll all drop like flies, until all that’s left are those two.

Jungkook

What a great idea Jungkook. Volunteer to go find Taehyung for his surprise party. Such an easy task, right? Wrong. Completely, and utterly, wrong. He could be anywhere with how unpredictable he is. I checked all of the rooms in the dorm with no luck. My phone began to buzz as I closed the door to his and Jimin’s room. Unknown? I froze.
“Kookie what’s wrong?”
“He’s calling me.”
“Who? Tae?”
“No. Your father.”
“Just ignore it and go find Tae.”
“Jagi I don’t have a good feeling about this. I’m answering it.”
“No! Kookie you better not-” I blocked her off before taking a deep breath and answering the call.
“Hello?”
“Ah Kookie is it?” His voice gave me chills, like nails on a chalkboard.
“Yes it is. Who is this?”
“Surely you know who I am. Only the father of your precious girlfriend.”
“My girlfriend doesn’t have a father.”
“Oh I’m sure she will when she finds out what I’ve done to one of her friends.”
“What have you done?!”
“It’s only a warning. Your little Tae is safe with me.” He had Taehyung. I knew it wouldn't be a good idea to ignore him.
“What do you want?” I clenched my teeth.
“Nothing’s changed of course. I want the same thing. A child in exchange for your friend.”
“It takes nine months to have a child. You can’t keep Tae for that long.”
“Sure I can! In fact, watch me.” He hung up, leaving me unsure of what to do. He had Taehyung. This guy was serious.

Cathleen

“What is taking those two so long?” Yoongi complained.
“It is Taehyung. That boy could be anywhere.” Jungkook slammed the door open, completely out of breath.
“Your father... He has... He has Taehyung,” He gasped between breaths. We all froze at the news. My father had taken Tae. My phone dinged and I looked down to read the message.
“Maybe you’ll take my threats seriously now.”
