chapter 1

"Come on Bo-Hui up and at'em we have things to do and people to see. I WANT TO PARTY!!!! LETS GO HAVE SOME FUN!"

We all have that very annoying friend who is way too hyper for their own good… Mine was Sophie. Sophie was an American born “bombshell” (as she so often liked to inform me). However, she seemed to fit in more with modern Korean culture than I who was born and raised here. At this moment in time she was trying to convince me to take her to an exclusive club that she was positive I was her only way into. “Can’t we just go another time I just want some rest, everything has been go, go, go for me lately?”

“Not going to happen. My bias is going to be there tonight and therefore we are going to go tonight!”

Knowing that Sophie was a fashionista I knew that my only hope of ever getting out of this situation was to bring up the subject of my lack of party clothes. She gave me a dead pan look “we’re not going to some slut joint. This place is nice wear that long black dress, you know the one that splits up your leg?”

As she talked she dragged me from my bed and into my closet, where she began to search through my cloths to find the black dress for me and a rather short red dress for herself. Admittedly I had never worn most of the clothes in my closet and therefore I wasn’t even sure what all of the articles in this room were. Most everything had been either picked out by Sophie and I had only bought it because she wanted it and could not afford it on her own, not to mention she practically lived at my house.

After she had zipped the back of my dress I turned to help her with her own. When she was satisfied she picked out heels for us both and then ushered me to the bathroom for hair and makeup.
Sophie had been correct when she stated that she would not be able to get into the club without my help. Starting at the entrance a long queue waited I an attempt to get into the exclusive club. Sophie was all too happy to take advantage of our friendship at moments like these as she proudly marched us up to the bouncer. I may not come to clubs but I was not stupid as to what was expected of me. Clicking open my clutch I reached in for my ID and handed it to the man in front of me. Sophie smacked her hand against her forehead, “you dork, he doesn’t need to see how old you are. Show him the card.”

Embarrassed I slipped my ID away and instead pulled out the silver membership card that we had borrowed from my Uncle. That was all the bouncer needed as he stepped to the side and let the two of us walk past and enter the club.

Loud music flooded my ears and I felt overwhelmed by the flashing lights and overstimulation. I wasn’t used to this kind of atmosphere. Huddling close to Sophie I followed her blond locks through the crowds of people. To a small table where we could set down our stuff “Alright step one: we go out and make a round of the club for all of the guys to see us then we come back to the table and see who wants to buy us a drink.” No protest allowed I was pulled from my seat.

The walk around the room was awkward to say the least, Sophie was an animal and she jumped all around in a sexy dance that seemed to be attracting the attention that she wanted. It wasn’t long before someone joined her and she began to grind on the person. For a moment I stood there awkwardly not sure what to do before slipping away and back to the table where I ordered a red wine in the hopes of relaxing a little bit.

After a glass I felt much more relaxed and while I still wasn’t sure what I was supposed to be doing it was funny to watch Sophie in her crazy antics to try and find someone that she claimed was her bias. “Why aren’t you up and dancing with your friend?”

The sudden unexpected voice caused me to jump with fright which led to the knocking over of my second glass of wine. Quickly I apologized and began to clean up my mess before it ran off the table and on to either one of us. Chuckling he pulled more napkins and began to help. When the mess was no longer their he called over a waiter for another glass of wine.

“Here, I didn’t mean to scare you, I just didn’t realize that you were so out of it.”

“No it’s fine I just did not expect anyone to approach.” Now that I actually looked at him I could see just how attractive he was. Embarrassed I took a rather large sip of wine and averted my eyes for a second and clearing my throat. I found it hard to make eye contact with this stranger so instead I looked at hos blaringly red hair. There was an awkward silence between us as I tried to think of the best possible way to talk to someone so handsome and not make a fool of myself. Out of lack of anything else to do I took another drink and once again cleared my throat. “So, ah…”

I was so painfully awkward. Thankfully he noticed my discomfort and began to talk as he stood up “why don’t we go dance?”

I took a glance towards Sophie and her very racy dancing, his stare followed mine “We don’t have to dance like that, come on.”

Reluctantly I followed after him when he pulled me along on the dance floor. When he found the spot he wanted I was brought to a stop and turned to face him. When he let go of my hand I brought it to his shoulder and held the other up for him to grab. “I only know how to ball room dance.”

He raised an eyebrow and smiled “alright.”

He reached for me and pulled close resting his head next to mine. His mouth rested close to my ears and I could hear his singing and humming in my ears as we danced to a completely different song then the rest of the world around us.

Never before had I been with another person in such an intimate way causing me to feel like a bundle of nerves, but slowly these nerves relaxed as we danced to his made up memories and we enjoyed many drinks together.
