Could It Be Love?

The Mistake

Aera
Jolting awake, I stare up at the ceiling of my room. It’d been a year. A year since the incident had happened. A year since he’d forgotten it. Jungkook’s head pops into my view and he looks confused. “Why are you just lying there?” Pushing his head aside, I sit up and eye my best friend as he falls back onto the empty space next to me. One night. It took one night to shake my world. Of course, he was the one that had to forget. “Aera, wanna go and get some food?” Jungkook asks as I rub my eyes, trying to fix my blurry vision. “Sure, lemme get dressed.” I glance at the clock, I’d seriously slept in. It was past two in the afternoon. “Yeah, yeah.” He waves me away and I pad to the bathroom, pausing to grab clothes. By the time we were at the cafe, I was fanning myself because of the summer heat. “What should we get?” I ask, staring at the menu. Pulling out a menu, Jungkook closes his eyes and his finger lands on one. “We’ll have this.” I smile at the girl at the register. We sit down outside after getting the food and I smile as Jungkook loses all reason and devours his side of the dish. “Do you want that?” He asks, nodding at my side of the food. Looking at him and then the food, I push half of mine over to his side. “Eat.” I eat my half and he immediately eats the rest. “What class are you in this year?” Jungkook asks, sitting back and staring at the couples walking past. “Class one, same as you. Didn’t you ask me that last week?” I tease and his eyes go to mine. “Sorry, I’m tired. Was at it late last night.” I fight to keep my joking smile on my face. The waitress appears and gives us a sweet smile. “You guys are an adorable couple.” “Oh we’re n-“Jungkook’s words quiet mine. “We’re not dating.” He says it like he was declaring it. The waitress’ eyebrows go up a millimeter before she nods, taking the empty bowl. His phone dings and he pulls it out, glancing at the screen. “Okay, well I’ve got to go. See you later, butterfly.” He grins and I smile back, waving as he leaves. My mood had taken a steep dive and gone back up just from his words. If only that mistake could be forgotten. It’d been last year and he’d somehow gotten his hands on beer. I’d been called to get him instead of his new girlfriend because I was the one in his call log. I’d dragged him to my empty house because if he went home drunk, his mom would kill him, or at least seriously hurt him. He’d had enough beer to make him seriously dizzy and he’d collapsed on my bed, his drunk self, murmuring nonsense. The one thing I’d made out was “Where are your parents?” I’d said they were on a business trip overseas as I wrestled his shoes and socks off. His next question had been about my sister, and where she was. I’d said she was at a sleepover and that’s when the mistake happened. His drunk impulse had me pinned to my bed, his eyes dark with an emotion I didn’t know. My heart had gone crazy and he’d whispered “Stop me if you hate it.” By the morning, he knew things about my body I didn’t even know. But his memory of it was wiped as soon as he woke up. It’d been exhausting to remove the bedsheets with him sleeping, but I’d managed to erase the traces. He’d woken up with a sore body he thought was from his hangover. I’d forced myself to walk normally through the pain. The unrequited love I’d been harboring for years, wasn't exactly reciprocated and it grew to a monstrous size. Every time I saw Jungkook with his witch of a girlfriend, it hurt. She got what she wanted or someone paid for it. Only with Jungkook, did she act like an angel. But always with me, she was a devil. Being next to him, but not being able to touch him, hurt. Like I was being burned alive. I watch as Jungkook stops in front of a flower shop down the street and my heart aches at the thought of his girlfriend getting those. Jumping, I answer my ringing phone and pause, checking the caller ID. It was my boss. “You have a new client. I’ll text you the address. I strongly recommend asking for tips.” He hangs up and my phone dings with the new message. Clicking on the notification, I blink at the familiar address. It was Jungkook’s friend, Hoseok’s house. Texting boss, I ask Do I really have to take this request? After a couple of minutes, he replies. Yeah, you were requested after they read a few reviews. Cursing under my breath, I ask him what time the job is. It was around ten. If this day got any worse, I might just hit something.

@Vyan
THANK YOU, that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy because being told that I'm a great writer by someone that doesn't know me personally is the best feeling in the world. I'll update in a few minutes probably. Thank you for your support ^~^

Can't wait for the next update! This surely feels like I'm reading a scene from a movie, but really, you're such a great writer.
