Solstice

Bella ran into the building full of sleeping children and caught her breath. Her best friend, Jada looked up at her with cold eyes. She was holding fussing baby Kirstie in her arms. ‘’you’re so late.’’ She grumbled as she rocked the child. Earning an apologetic smile from Bella. ‘’I’m sorry I’m sorry. The auditions ran through longer than expected. Jackson came to support me.’’ At the very name of her friend’s boyfriend, Jada rolled her eyes.

‘’and what, you stopped for a quickie or something?’’ Bella nearly choked on her own saliva and calmly took the baby from Jada. ‘’Pfft. Know. Jackson’s a gentlemen, we haven’t.. done y’know, that yet.’’ She blushed and turned away to rock the baby.’’ Stop being such a pervert.’’ Jada chuckled and leaned back.

‘’So, how did it go? When will you know if you got the part or not?’’ Bella frowned. From where Jackson was watching, he argued that the directors had to be crazy in not giving her the lead role. But Bella felt that she had made a few mistakes, had her voice cracked, had she missed a dance step? She simple shrugged. ‘’Soon.’’ She said with a nod.

Jada rolled her eyes again and then perked up. ‘’Oh! So, Hanna wanted to have a girl’s night. First Friday, remember those days? We haven’t gone in forever.’’ Bella smiled at the idea. Or perhaps she was smiling at Kirstie who had finally fallen asleep.
‘’maybe. I guess it’ll be fun.’’ She answered. But looked over at her friend in the face.

‘’What?’’

‘’Girls night, that means no Jackson, No Jb, No BamBam-‘’

‘’Why would I invite BamBam after last time?’’ she interjected and laughed off a memory she kept trying so hard to forget. ‘’Let’s just hope that I finish this paper in time because it’s due the day before.’’ She continued. Come to think of it. She actually needed a break from Jackson, he had been acting very weird lately. She didn’t know what it was, she wasn’t sure she wanted to know. She probably didn’t want to know anyways. So she agreed.

‘’fine. I’ll go. It would be fun. Get me distracted from play stress and class. With spring break coming up it’s just what we need.’’ She said as she got up to place the sleeping baby in the crib. She then slumped down in her chair and sighed.

‘’besides. I want a little adventure. Away from Jackson.’’
