The Flowers You Left For Me.

“Sh-she’s my younger sister.” Ally says, about to collapse out of surprise.

My heart sinks as I hear those words spill out of Ally’s mouth. I shake my head, not wanting to believe her.

What?

It’s a joke right? Ally’s always good at lying. I bite my lip, trying to contain my emotions. Baekhyun locks eyes with mine.

‘Did you know?’ He asks with his eyes.

I shake my head no. I should’ve known. That must’ve been why I was so attracted to Areum the first time I met her… because she looks like Ally.

I’m in love with Ally’s sister.

“What are you doing here?” Ally stutters.

Ari takes note of Ally’s changed features. “I could ask you the same thing.”

The corners of my eyes twitch in annoyance as Ally moves closer to Ari before my eyes. As an abrupt instinct, I reach out and grab Ari‘s arm back behind me, protecting her.

Ari’s eyes swivel to me in confusion as I step before her, shielding her, and turned to Ally. “Sorry, we have places to be.”

Ally tilts her head back and a smirk creeps up her face. Her eyes move from mine to Ari’s and raises an eyebrow. “Really? You think you have the right to take her away from me?”

Ari attempts to shake off my grip on her arm but I’m unwilling to let go.

“No, but neither do you.” I growl.

Ally scoffs and flips back her flawless hair.

“Areum.” Baekhyun calls in a hushed tone. “Don’t let Kai tell you what you should and shouldn’t do.”

I throw him a look and open my mouth to object.

“Then should I let Ally?” Ari cuts in.

Baekhyun straightens his posture. “You-”

“Shut it, Baek.” I glare at him. “It’s none of your business.”

I could see Baekhyun’s expression darken as he takes a step towards me threateningly. With my hands still latched onto Ari’s arm, I step up to his challenging posture. If it’s a fight he wants, then it’s a fight he’ll get.

Ari pulls her arm away and brushes her jeans with a frustrated sigh. “Can I, just, speak to my sister… alone?”

Baekhyun casually paces towards me and grips my shoulder.

“We’ll be waiting outside if anything, Areum.” Baekhyun gives Ari a cheery smile, then turns to Ally. “We still have much to discuss Ally. It’s great seeing you in a better condition than when I last left you.”

I restrain from my spot and shrug off Baekhyun’s hand.

I scowl. “Don’t touch me.”

Baekhyun holds up his hands in surrender and pulls me away from the girls. With one last glance at Ari, I follow him away and into the elevator. The door closes slowly, and the minute it does, I grab Baekhyun’s collar.

“Why did you bring her here?” I said between gritted teeth.

His face is appalled for a brief moment before a small grin appears on his smug face. With a swift movement, he slapped my hands away and patted his shirt.

“Just a nice reminder for you. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t expect Ally and Ari to know each other, let alone be sisters.”

As much as I want to take him down, I hold myself back. I ruffle my hair and heave a long sigh. “Whatever happens, don’t you dare hurt Areum.”

Areum’s POV

“Songmyeon… what happened to you?” I look into her unreadable eyes.

“I go by Ally now, sis.” Ally puts a hand on my shoulder before taking me into a warm embrace. “It’s good to finally see you, after all of these years.”

I hesitate before returning her hug. “Where were you all of these years? Our parents have been worried sick ever since you fled from the countryside. You left them with nothing… you left me.”

“I had to get away. I felt entrapped there. I was out of place. You on the other hand had close friends and was always occupied. Which reminds me.” She pulls back and leaves her hands on my shoulders. She fixes my hair and a smile grows on my face. “How’s Chanyeol? Are you still in touch with him?”

Before I know it, my smile vanishes and I look down at our shoes. My worn out sneakers are nothing compared to her shiny white heels. “What about you and Kai?”

“What about us.” She chuckles. “That was way back when. We were childish. He was young and stupid.”

“You brainwashed him, manipulated him.” I push her back and her eyes widen in shock. “How could you say that?”

“Kai almost killed me.”

“From your influence.” I counter and fold my arms together.

She sighs and shakes her head. “I was in the hospital for over a month because of him.”

“I know the story, Songmyeon. Kai didn’t hurt you with purpose. You lied to him, and because of that he suffered so much.” I feel my face burn and clench my teeth.

“Hm.” A small grin works up her face and she raises an eyebrow. “I never knew my Areum cared so much about a boy.”

“Well you knew about Chanyeol and how I loved him.” I start for the lobby door. “But he left me, just like you. This time, I’m not going to let Kai slip away so easily.”

“Areum!” Ally calls and I turn my head. She shuffles through her bag and walks up to me.

What’s this…?

“Here.” Ally hands me a white rose with a cheeky smile. My eyes stay glued to the beautiful flower as she gently places it in my hands. “Give this to Kai for me.”

I nod my head and bow before walking through the lobby doors.

“Areu-” Baekhyun welcomes, however I take Kai by the arm and lead him away before he’s able to finish.

“A-ari.” Kai says with shock and I pull him behind me. I hide the rose from his view and take him to the nearest park.

The white rose I just accepted. Her white dress. Her white furry handbag. Her white high heels. Her white mustang. The white roses I’ve been receiving at school. Songmyeon told me to give this rose to Kai. Kai has been influenced by Ally in his past. He stole, lied, killed.

I stop walking once we’re in the middle of the empty park.

White roses either mean “I love you” or “I surrender.” Ally surrendered to Kai. It’s her way of an apology for their past. Whoever’s given me the roses at school has been trying to confess to me. But Baekhyun already confessed to me and yet the roses are coming back.

As I turn around to face Kai, he immediately brings me into an embrace. He wraps his arms around my waist and rests his head on my shoulder.

It’s not Baekhyun who’s been giving me those stupid roses.

“Areum…” Kai lifts his head and presses his cheek against mine. His hot breath tickles my neck as he kisses my earlobe.

“…Jongin.” It’s the first time I call him by his real name, but it doesn’t seem like he hates it. I release from the embrace slightly to meet him face to face.

“I love you.”

“No.” I step back from him, choosing my words carefully. “I get it now. Everything you’ve done until now…”

“What do you mean…” I see his eyes flicker briefly in pain before a look of realisation spread through his face. “Ari-”

“Jongin,” I hold my hand out to him, drawing the line between us with my eyes. “Ally’s here now… she’s the flower you’ve been looking for.”

I hand him the flower with a weak smile and my vision of him blurs as tears sting my eyes. “It was never me.”

so uhm.... AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION we've decided that this story desperately needs a sequel for the story to reach it's full on potential. So THE TWO OF US SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR THROWING AT YOU THE FINAL CHAPTER OF THIS STORY RIGHT AFTER OUR MONTH LONG HIATUS...

We have alot planned for our sequel and we plan to have that up and running ASAP! So please look forward to that...

On a side note... Since coming back from my vacation, Alexis and I have had a burst of inspiration for our new collaboration... (after working with each other, we're actually quite attached to each other now aha) so there's something to look forward to while you're waiting for that sequel.
