The Last Mission

Chapter Five

Dinner was over. Jung-Woo took his phone and went outside. He tried calling Yoo-Jin, but she wasn’t picking up. She must be mad. He thought. He sighed. Should I go find her? He decided to go look for her. He didn’t call out her name because he didn’t want to bring attention to him. He walked towards the beach. He looked around once and didn’t see anyone. He was about to walk back to the hotel, but he saw her. He walked to her trying to be quiet as possible. He thought that she was sleeping. When he got close to her he saw blood dripping from the back of the chair. He leaned over her. He put his hand on her head. She had a fever. He tried moving her to see what was causing the bleeding. A knife wound. He called their team leader He knew he couldn’t bring her to the hospital himself; they would ask too many questions.

“Hello?”

“Hello? This is Jung-Woo! Yoo...Yoo-Jin’s hurt.”

“What, how?”

“She has a knife wound on her right shoulder.”

“Stay there! I’ll be there soon.”

Team leader had stayed close in case anything went wrong. He was there in five minutes. They brought her to the hospital saying that she had fallen off of a tree while trying to cut a fruit off of it. It was the best they could come up with at the moment. She was brought to the emergency room.

“I - I,” Jung-Woo stuttered.

“Stop, we’ll talk about it when she wakes up. Go change, you’ll get a cold.”

Jung-Woo nodded. He went to asked for a pair of clothes for him and team leader. They both changed.

“I have to go back. Her attacker may put the principle in danger,” whispered Jung-Woo.

“Go, I’ll stay here with her.” Jung-Woo left. An hour later the doctor came out. Team leader stood up and greeted him. “Is she fine?”

“Yes, she still has a fever, but it should go down after some sleep.”

He smiled, “thank you.”

Yoo-Jin was put in a room on the fifth floor. A day passed and she finally woke up.

Yoo-Jin opened her eyes slowly. She knew where she was, she expected to see Jung-Woo but instead she saw team leader. She felt sad but knew why he wasn’t there. Someone had to watch over the principal. She tried sitting up, Team Leader helped her.

“What happened?” he asked.

“A man attacked me. I didn’t see his face… do you think it’s Go Jun-Dong?”

“It probably was.”

“I’m sorry. I was… too focused on something else.”

“It’s okay. I wasn’t even able to catch him. It’ll take some time.”

“What about my absence?”

“I already explained it to them, get some rest.”

“Jung-Woo and I think Jung Kang-Woo is Go Jun-Dong.”

“I’ll look into it.”

The trip ended. Yoo-Jin had already flown back to Seoul to get more rest. When Jung-Woo got back it was already dark. He walked to her room quietly. He opened the door. She wasn’t there. He turned around and saw her standing at the door.

“What are you doing?” she asked. Her arms were crossed.

“I - I was looking for you.”

“I’m fine … I know what you’re thinking, it wasn’t your fault. It’s mine.”

“No, I should’ve answered, I-”

“We learn from mistakes Jung-Woo,” Yoo-Jin sighed. One thing was still clinging onto her. Do you like me?

“Are you feeling better?”

“I said I was fine.”

Jung-Woo took out a brand new phone from behind his back. “I got you a new phone. Your other one broke.”

Yoo-Jin just looked at it, “I’ll get one for myself.”

“Just use this one,” he placed it on her desk then walked out. Yoo-Jin went into the living room. Jung-Woo was sitting on the couch. “Can we talk?”

Yoo-Jin sat down. “What?”

“It’s about Go Jun-Dong.”

Yoo-Jin sulked, “okay, go on.”

“Did you see him?”

“No it was pouring rain...and dark.”

“We need to be careful, you need to be careful.”

“I know.”

“Why did you leave? Were you angry? Wh-”

“I thought you said you wanted to talk about Go Jun-Dong.”

“I wanted to know why you left first.”

“Fine,” Yoo-Jin stood up, “I was angry at you!”

Jung-Woo stood up too, “why!”

“Because!”

“Because why!”

“Because I li-,” Yoo-Jin stopped herself. She began to tremble.

It was silent for a long time. They both just stared at each other.

“You what?” asked Jung-Woo slowly.

Yoo-Jin turned around and walked in her room slamming the door behind her.
