The Devil and Me

Too Weak

I was laying on a bench, looking at the sky. Hanna had to go to the bathroom. I looked at the clouds slowly flowing away with the wind. Time passed slowly and I began drifting off to sleep. I laid my right arm on my forehead. Then all of a sudden water splashed onto me. I quickly stood up and looked at who it was. A group of girls (about eight to ten) who call themselves EXOTICS were standing in front of me with their arms crossed. I rolled my eyes as the nice cool breeze passed by making me feel cool, and...cold. I smiled at them. They looked at me dumbfounded.

“Thank you for that, I was getting a little hot out here. The breeze makes it even better,” I smiled.

“Whatever! Just stay away from my Oppa!” one of them yelled.

“Okay, I’ll do that,” I smiled.

“Huh? Well, that was easier than I thought,” another one of them said.

I knew better than to mess with them. They were all strong and I was a weakling. Besides, I’ve been wanting to stay away from EXO all my life. All of the EXOTICS left. I sat there and shivered in the wind. It was really windy today and even though it was summer, winter was approaching fast, so some days were cold, like this one. I couldn’t be cold. Being cold made me even weaker. I remembered that my parents never let me play outside in the beautiful snow. Cold air wasn’t good for me, and it still isn’t. I become vulnerable in the cold. And I get sick very easily, especially when I’m under a lot of stress and pressure. I was careful though. I knew when to back out of something that would make me weak, that’s why no one knows about my illnesses. The only people that know are my parents and Luhan’s parents. Hanna doesn’t even know. If she did she would be over protective of me. I wanted her to have a life too. I grabbed a napkin from my bag and began to wipe my face. Hanna slammed open the door and ran to me.

“What happened?” asked Hanna.

“Oh, it’s nothing,” I sneezed. Already? I sighed. I had almost forgotten how fast I get sick.

“Nothing? You’re already sneezing!” Hanna yelled. She picked up my bag and started dragging me back inside.

“Don’t over exaggerate!” I said. EXO started walking up the steps. I wanted to hide from them right now. My breathing was already starting to feel uneasy. I hid behind Hanna’s back. She took that as that I didn’t want to see them. She used her left arm to hide me behind her. Luhan walked up to us.
“What’s wrong Jiwon? Are you scared?” Luhan mocked me.

“What do you want?” Hanna asked.

I was happy that Hanna was standing up for me, but I hated that I was so weak. I could feel my breathing return to normal. I stepped out from behind Hanna and gave Luhan the coldest look I could manage. His expression softened. I wasn’t going to be shook by that. He’s tried so many times to get me to feel sorry for him, but I wasn’t ever going to fall for it, even if my life depended on it.

“What do you want,” I said coldly. He expression stayed the same; worried.

“Are you okay?” he asked almost worried.

I laughed.

“Why do you care? I won’t ever fall for your tricks again, jerk. Come on Hanna, let’s go.”

I grabbed her arm and began walking down the steps again.
