The Thirteenth Key

♔Chapter Five♔

The pain in her back was now absent. The pounding in her head was gone. Aera slowly opened her eyes.

What if I’m dead?

She could feel two people in her presence. She immediately sat up and looked at her surroundings. Two men were sitting in front of her, watching her every move. One of them was Suho. Aera eyed the other man closely, until her eyes fell upon the pendant that laid against his chest.

“Who are you?” she asked.

He smirked.

“Who are you?” he asked.

“I asked you first,” she said.

“Lay,” he said.

Aera looked at Suho and Lay.

Suddenly a question popped into her mind that she didn’t think of before.

“What is your ability?” she asked.

“What’s yours?” Suho asked.

Aera shot him a glare.

“I asked first.”

“Yeah, and you never told Lay your name,” Suho rolled his eyes.

“Why didn’t you tell him?” she asked.

Her voice was icy cold.

Suho shrugged, acting unaffected by her voice, yet Lay and Suho both felt shivers run down their backs.

“I did,” he said.

Aera scoffed and looked at Lay.

“You’re an idiot,” she said.

Lay smirked, again.

What two sassy idiots.

Aera’s eyes traveled to Suho’s lap, where the silver Box sat. Her eyes widened as she reached out to him and snapped it from him. Suho back up at her quick speed, his heart skipped a beat when she did that.

“What was that for?!” he yelled.

Aera shot him a death glare.

“Don’t ever lay your hands on this ever again.”

If stares could kill, Lay and Suho would both be dead.

Lay knew what the Box was for, yet he didn’t like it how Aera was acting. He didn’t like her when
she was unconscious, and he didn’t like her now.

"What's your problem?" he asked.

Aera glared at Lay. She was about to say something to him, but stopped when she realized something. She felt...stronger. Much stronger than when she woke Suho up. And strangely enough, the pain in her back was gone. She quickly reached up to her back and rubbed it. The wound was gone, healed. Her eyes widened as she looked at Lay and Suho in shocked.

"Who was it?" she asked.

The two male's faces looked confused.

"What?" they both asked.

"Which one of you is a healer?" Aera asked.

Lay stood up, followed by Suho. They both dusted off their pants.

"It doesn't matter," Lay said.

Aera stood up with the Box in her arms.

"It's you, isn't it?" she asked, looking at Lay.

Lay smirked and looked at her with bored eyes.

"No, it's not," he said.

Aera narrowed her eyes down on him.

"Why are you lying to me," she asked.

Lay scoffed. His head slightly tilted to the side and crossed his arms. He poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue.

"I don't trust you," he said as he shook his head.

"Your symbol is a Unicorn. Unicorns are a symbol for healing and strength, so you're a healer. That's your ability. Your ability is believed to be a legend. So," Aera placed her free arm on her hip, "does all of your kind have a special ability?"

Suho sighed.

"Aren't you on tight schedule? We don't have the time to talk about this right now," he said.

Aera shot him a death glare.

"Where are the others?" she asked.

Suho shrugged his shoulders.

"That's why I said that we should get going," he said.

Aera looked forward and walked passed them.

"Let's go then," she said.

Lay scoffed.

"I don't like her," he whispered to Suho.

"I don't either," Suho whispered back.

Even though what they said wasn't intended for Aera to hear it, she did. She balled her hands up into fists and ignored them.

I don't like you two either.

Notes
