Our Mates

My Mate, Kyungsoo

“Play nice,” Suho said sternly with crossed arms.

“He freakin’ broke my bathroom door,” Yoobin shot daggers into Kyungsoo’s eyes.

Kyungsoo cowered under her gaze and lowered his head.

Yoobin and Kyungsoo were sitting side by side on a couch while the five other werewolves were standing before them.

“That doesn’t give you the right to kick him in . . . in,” Suho sighed and grimaced.
Kyungsoo pouted and gave Yoobin a sorrowful gaze.

“I only want you to love me. And . . . let me love you, and mate with me, and have lots of babies, and pet me, and—”

Yoobin sighed while the other five rolled their eyes.

“We don’t even know each other that well yet,” Yoobin said.
Yet,” Suho said.

Yoobin glared at him and scowled.

“Would you stop saying that every time I say ‘yet’?” she growled.

Suho stiffened up and nodded.

“S-Sorry.”

Yoobin sighed and leaned back into the couch.

“Where is this home of yours?” she asked.

Kyungsoo jumped up in glee and clasped his hands together.

“Oh, you’ll love it! It’s in the middle of this big forest!” he made large hand gestures as he spoke with great enthusiasm. “It’s two stories high and there’s a lot of room! If we have a lot babies we can move out and buy an even bigger house!”

“I’m not having babies with you,” Yoobin rolled her eyes and sighed.

All six werewolves gasped. Yoobin sealed her lips shut and looked at Kyungsoo cautiously.
“Why?” he seemed so broken. He was about to burst into tears.

Yoobin awkwardly cleared her throat.

“I-I . . . I-I mean, we’re strangers. I-I haven’t even—oh my god! Are you crying?” Yoobin began to panic.

Kyungsoo’s eyes were over-flooding with tears with a big pout smacked onto his lips.

“Y-You h-hate me?” his voice went up a few octaves as his little voice spoke.

Yoobin bit her lips. She had never seen a boy man look so sad and vulnerable.

Gosh, he acts like he’s pregnant.

“Um . . . no?” Yoobin sounded unsure.

“YOU HATE ME!” Kyungsoo accused her as he threw his face into his palms as he began to sob loudly.

His five pack members face-palmed and shook their heads.

“K-Kyungsoo ah,” Yoobin slowly began to freak out.

She knew how to make children stop crying right away, but she had never tried to stop a man from crying, especially a full grown man . . . wait, he kind of looked like a kid at the moment. Yoobin sighed and scooted closer towards Kyungsoo. Carefully, she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and lovingly patted his back like a mother would.

“Shhh, I’m sorry, Kyungsoo ah. I don’t hate you, really. I-I’m just a bit shocked by everything,” Yoobin said softly.

Kyungsoo’s sobbing turned into sniffles. His pout was still plastered onto is lips. His big round eyes were slightly red from crying. He looked up at Yoobin that had let him go.

“C-Can you continue to h-hug me? It makes me feel better,” he hiccupped, still letting his tears slowly fall.

Yoobin nervously chuckled and hesitantly nodded.

“O-Okay,” she said before hugging him again.

“P-Pet me too,” he hiccupped.

Yoobin made a weird face before running her fingers through his soft dark brown locks hesitantly. Kyungsoo smiled and snuggled his face into her shoulder.

“Hm,” he hummed. “Vanilla.”

Yoobin was a bit creeped out, but the warmth that he emitted from his body was comforting. She decided to let him stay in her arms until he calmed down, or at least stopped crying. She heard him hiccup every now and then, making her faintly smile.

He’s just like a little kid that needs love . . . my love.

Yoobin inwardly sighed when she remembered that she was going to have to learn to love this guy. At the moment, they were strangers to her, but those strangers were slowly becoming friends. She knew too much about them for them to be just simple strangers now.
Yoobin looked up at the other five werewolves that were awkwardly standing in the corner of the living room. She offered them a small smile before Suho chuckled nervously, forcing everyone out of the house. She rolled her eyes and inwardly scoffed.

I am I that scary? They act like they’ve never seen a girl before.

Yoobin sighed and rested her chin on Kyungsoo’s shoulder to get in a more comfortable position.

“I’ll leave with you,” she said quietly.

Kyungsoo twitched. He threw his arms around her waist and hugged her close with a wide smile plastered onto his lips.

“Really?” he asked in glee although he was still in tears.

Yoobin hesitantly nodded and smiled.

“Yeah, I mean . . . it’ll be fun, right? Even if I don’t really know you or love you right now, our relationship can build up into something.”

Kyungsoo hugged her even tighter, finally feeling not so sad anymore. Yoobin wanted to push him off of her, but she didn’t want him to cry again.

“Can I kiss you?” Kyungsoo asked.

“Don’t push it,” Yoobin growled, making Kyungsoo pout.

“S-Sorry.”

Yoobin chuckled and ruffled his hair.

“I like manly guys, not crybabies,” Yoobin said.

Kyungsoo immediately let go of her and straightened his posture.

“I’m not a crybaby!” he put his hands on his hips and rose his rest. “I am manly!”

Yoobin rose her eyebrows.

“Is that so? You were crying in my arms just seconds ago.”

Kyungsoo’s big brown eyes widened and glistened. He held onto Yoobin’s hand with the both of his and gave her the most innocent look she had ever seen.

“I can be manly too,” he said in a soft voice.

Yoobin smiled softly and chuckled.

“Okay, okay, I believe you,” she said.

Kyungsoo brightened up again and continued to hold her hand.

“Can I kiss you now?” he asked again.

Yoobin snarled at him before pulling her hand out from his.

“Only if you want a black eye,” she said.

Kyungsoo perked up.

“It’s okay, I’ll heal—”

He advanced towards her, but Yoobin was quicker and punched him, making him fall to the ground. Yoobin’s eyes widened in shock. She had never punched anyone before.

“O-Oh my, a-are you okay?” she asked, confused by her new found anger.

Kyungsoo pouted and rubbed his cheek.

“I wasn’t really going to kiss you,” he said.

Yoobin sighed and gestured for him to come close to her.

“Let me see it.”

“It’s okay. I said that I’ll heal.”

Yoobin shrugged.

“Fine, if you insist.”

Kyungsoo sat next to her again and grabbed her hand. She gave him a confused look, but then he put her hand on his head, making her pet him again.

“When do you want to leave?” he asked.

Yoobin sighed and shrugged again.

“I don’t know, when do you have to leave?” she asked.

“When you want to leave.”

Yoobin rolled her eyes, but continued to pet him.

“I guess . . . soon,” she said in a slightly sad tone.

Kyungsoo pouted and looked at her with curious eyes.

“Is there someone that you’ll miss?” he asked.

Yoobin smiled faintly.

“Everyone,” she whispered.

Kyungsoo’s heart broke. This was the first time that he saw her sad. He didn’t want her to be sad.

“You can come and visit whenever you want,” he said.

Yoobin stopped petting his head, but left her hand on it. She looked him in the eyes with watery ones. She smiled genuinely.

“Really?” she asked.

Kyungsoo nodded enthusiastically.

“Hm-mm!”

Yoobin chuckled and ruffled his hair affectionately, making him purr in delight.

“Thanks. I hope you won’t make me regret making this choice,” she said.

Kyungsoo nodded.

“I won’t!”
