Reality of love
Chapter 2
Ten years had passed since she had left Korea. She had become part of a famous record label that was looking to expand into the Korean market. She had been chosen as the representative that would oversee the project. As she stepped off the plane she smiled at the familiar sounds of her mother tongue. It had been way too long since her last visit. She spotted her family waving at her from behind the barrier separating the passengers from their loved ones. She rushed around the barrier and was immediately pulled into a tight hug by her mother before being passed around the rest of her family.
Once she was all hugged out, they headed back to her family home. She had already looked at a few apartments, but she wanted to see them in person before she made any decisions. She spent a few days relaxing at home, catching up with her family, hearing stories about her sister’s twin boys who had just started crawling and were causing mischief wherever they went.
A week later she was able to move into her apartment. She spent a couple of days redecorating, making the flat match her and her style. She had already been in contact with the company that her company would be joining with and had arranged a meeting with the management for the next day. She made sure that her outfit was perfect that night before she went to sleep. She easily fell asleep, ready to start working the next day.
She woke up early and got ready, making sure her makeup, hair, and outfit were perfect before heading out the door. When she arrived at the large building, she was escorted to the top floor where the meeting room was. She greeted the CEO and the other various members of staff. Her attitude showing that she was confident, not willing to bend or show weakness, as being a female, many of the men believed that she was nothing but a pretty face. But she had been in the business for long enough to know how to deal with those kinds of attitudes. Luckily the men in this company didn’t seem to have any misconceptions or issues with her being female. She held the meeting, telling them about the proposed plans between their two companies to support each other and in turn expand their markets.
Once the meeting had ended, the CEO was leading her out of the building when he spotted someone at the end of the hallway, “Ah, that’s one of our producers, he goes by the name Suga. You’ll be working with him a lot. Suga!” he called out for the green haired man at the end of the hallway. The man known as Suga turned at the sound of his name being called. Hyerim felt the blood drain from her face, her legs turned numb as she tried to force herself to keep walking and not fall over and make a complete fool of herself. As Suga got closer he frowned, his eyebrows furrowing as he took in her appearance. His eyes landed on her face and he stopped dead a few feet away from her, his mouth slightly open, his face showing his disbelief.
“Hyerim?” he said, his voice barely a whisper. Hyerim felt a familiar shiver run through her body at the familiar voice. She was surprised that she still felt the same rush from his voice as she had all those years ago. She thought ten years would have been long enough to forget him. The CEO looked between the two of them, picking up on the atmosphere that had settled over them. “You two know each other? That’s perfect! I’ll let you two get caught up while I go make a phone call. It was a pleasure meeting you Hyerim, I’ll see you first thing tomorrow morning.” He said before making his exit, leaving Hyerim and Yoongi alone in the hallway.
Hyerim swallowed thickly and licked her suddenly dry lips. A thousand questions rushed through her mind, but none of them made it past her lips. They stared at each other, as if they couldn’t believe the other was standing in front of them. It was Yoongi that finally broke the silence. “It’s really you.” He said as he took a step closer to her. She nodded, her voice suddenly failing her. “You’re really here.” Yoongi said as he took another step closer so that they were now only a foot away from each other.
“The green hair suits you.” She blurted out, mentally cringing at the words that finally escaped her. Yoongi let out a laugh, “You haven’t seen me in ten years and that’s the first thing you say?” he said, his tone cold which caught her by surprise. She realised that if their positions had been switched and it was him that had disappeared for ten years, she probably would have been more than a little cold to him. It didn’t mean that it didn’t hurt. She had heard Yoongi use his cold tone with other people, but never with her. She missed his goofy smile and his laugh, not the sarcastic laugh he had just used, but his real laugh, the one that he didn’t show to many people.
He ruffled his hair in frustration before letting out a deep sigh. “There's so many things I want to ask you, I don’t even know where to start.” He said, his voice quiet as his gaze dropped to the ground as if he couldn’t bear to look at her. Hyerim felt guilt wash over her. She had regretted not telling Yoongi about her going to America. She had lifted the phone to call him several times but every time she did, all she could think about was Yoongi wrapped in Soobin’s arms and she immediately put the phone down. The heartbroken part of her refusing to let her actually dial his number.
He lifted his gaze, his expression a mixture of confusion, disbelief and anger. She felt herself physically flinch from his gaze as she looked away from him, her fingers twisting together behind her back as she tried to keep calm. “Are you free tonight?” he asked suddenly, catching her off guard. “What?” she asked, surprised by his sudden question. “Are you free tonight? We need to talk.” She shook her head, she was not ready to have this conversation. She had hoped that her separation from Yoongi would have helped her deal with her feelings for him. She had tried dating, but none of her relationships had made it longer than a year. In her mind, no one could ever compare with Min Yoongi, even though she knew it was stupid of her to compare every guy to him.
“Sorry, I have a meeting with the planning department tonight.” She said, her voice sounding weak in her own ears. Yoongi frowned at her and held his hand out. “Give me your phone.” he said, his tone leaving no room for arguments. She hesitantly took her phone from her bag and handed it to him. He quickly typed in his number and called his phone from hers so that he would have her number. “I’ll call you. Don’t ignore my calls.” He started to walk away but abruptly stopped and turned to face her. “And don’t disappear again.” he said, his voice laced with pain as he turned and walked down the hallway, leaving a flustered and confused Hyerim behind.
Over the next three days, Hyerim had kept herself busy with work. Which was proving easier said than done as Yoongi had developed a habit of turning up at random times, hoping to catch a chance to talk to her. She always made an excuse and managed to escape. She wanted to delay talking to Yoongi for as long as she could. She couldn’t understand why she was so frightened to meet with her old best friend again. She had ran over all the possibilities of what would happen when she finally ran out of excuses and they had to talk. The worst case scenario being that he and Soobin were still together. She had noticed his lack of wedding ring, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t taken.
Finally Yoongi had managed to arrange a meeting through the CEO with her. She cursed him for being so sneaky, but she was also secretly happy about it. Despite her worries about how to conversation would turn out, she had come to terms with the fact that she was, in fact, still in love with Yoongi and her heart still beat faster in her chest whenever she saw him. Her secretary informed her that Yoongi had booked them into a restaurant for their meeting that night.
She left work a little early so that she could go home and change. She chuckled at herself in the mirror as she applied her makeup. It’s not like they were going on a date, so why was she making such a fuss? She had even subconsciously picked out a white dress to wear knowing that Yoongi’s favourite colour was white. She had briefly considered changing out of the dress but after checking the time, she decided to keep it on. She pulled on her coat and with a final look in the mirror, she made her way to the restaurant where Yoongi, and most likely a very awkward conversation, would be waiting for her.
omg!! OMG!!
THE CONVERSATION MADE MY HEART FREZE!!
AND THE END!!
I AM SOO TOUCHED!!
