A Trip To Neverland

I Will Face the Tricks of the Sea that Stole You Away

Peter… Peter… You’re getting closer… Just a little bit more… Peter, run! Leave me, I’ll be fine! PETER!

I wake up as a piercing scream enters my ears and I jolt up, looking frantically around me, my breath harsh and quick. I calm down as I realize it was only a dream and everybody else was sleeping peacefully. I sigh, rustle my hair and jump off my small bed before heading out and upstairs, needing some fresh air. I became friendly with the constant swinging of the ship a few days ago and now it feels comforting and reassuring, like it’s telling me we’re going to reach the Black Pearl without problems. Which of course I doubt highly, because of what I overheard Axel say the other day. He still hasn’t done anything that betrayed his intentions but I still chose to tell Chanyeol and Lay about that yesterday.

“Thanks, kiddo,” the taller one had said while patting me on the shoulder. “We’ll make sure to keep a close eye on him.”

After walking up all the wooden stairs, I went and leaned my forearms on the edge of the boat. I watch the water as its waves crashes lightly on the wood of the ship and dies back in the water, the constant movement making me sleepy but peaceful.

“Haaa,” I sigh quietly. “This is such a beautiful view, Grandpa. I wish you could see it too.”

I take in more of the said view by lifting my eyes and admiring the dark sky illuminated by thousands of bright stars and a full white moon making the water shine even more. I close my eyes and breathe in the fresh air I needed before opening them again.

“Is this heaven? If it is, then I don’t mind going at all,” I murmured to myself.

I glance back at the captain and Roger were speaking quietly together on the front deck, the first one touching slightly the helm from time to time. I wave at them a bit when they notice me and go back to my star-gazing. Just as I’m about to fall in a light sleep, an ear-deafening sound wakes all my senses up and I grip the edge tightly. I hear some men shout as they rise from downstairs and come up. I scrutinize the horizon to search for the source of the sound and as I finally see it, another boom is heard.

“Other pirates,” I breathe. “Other pirates! We’re under attack!” I yell out to the other men as they all go see for themselves.

Everybody begins to yell for weapons and a handful of men go to the cave to prepare the cannons.

“This is going to get messy, kiddo,” I hear my friend’s voice suddenly behind me.

“Channie, don’t try to scare him already. I think those times are fun! Let’s just look at it the bright way: they are still far from us, we are courageous men and, of course, we have great, legendary cannons!”

“Captain, three of our eight cannons are dead!” we hear a voice call.

Yixing glances at us and clears his throat.

“I mean, at least some of us have powers! You know, Sehun, I actually have one as well! Are you curious? Are you?”

“What? Is it spreading happiness when we’re obviously on the brink of death?” I answer sarcastically, rolling my eyes in exasperation.

“No, but nice guess. I’ll take it as a compliment. My power is, roll the drums… I can heal any injury!” he says proudly.

I stare at him, my eyes full of doubt.

“I swear! Don’t look at me like that! Channie, tell him already! Tell him!” he whines to the taller one. Are you sure you’re 25?

“Yeah, it’s true, Sehun,” he sighs. “He’s actually saved me once, one of my injuries had gotten infected and he healed it just before the captain cut my whole leg along with it. It took 3 nights before it healed completely, though. He was mentally exhausted after that.”

I frown a little, but nod in acknowledgement.

“Alright, I believe you. I’ll rely on you if I get hurt,” I wink. “Oh, can you heal yourself too?”

He shook his head negatively.

“I can only heal others. Otherwise, I’d be immortal, right? No powers can go against nature. Well, except for the Black Pearl that is, but… She’s in a league of her own. Yup,” he shakes his head again.

“What are you pretty boys doing here?” a rough voice asks from behind.

We turn around simultaneously to meet eyes with Roger.

“Chatting, I see. Well, enough of that already. We are currently preparing for war, gentlemen! And a big one, at that!”

“Why?” I ask him.

“Because it’s the Jolly Roger,” he answers darkly. “Which means, your lifetime enemy is in there.”

My eyes go round and before I can say another word, the two men on each sides of me exclaim:

“Hook is over there?! He’s going to fight us?!”

“Aye, gentlemen! And he knows what he wants, oh yes he does. He always does. And this time, it’s you,” he says deeply, pointing directly at me.

I stare at his finger silently while my heart begins to pound in my chest. Tonight’s the night already, huh? Yeah, I’m cool with that. I’m 100% fine. I’m prepared. I’ll fight him like I do this every- OH MY GOD GRANDPA SAVE ME! I DON’T WANNA DIE PLEASE I’M SORRY PLEASE I’LL BE GOOD JUST MAKE HIM GO AWAY-

“Alright, I’ll fight him,” I answer calmly, not letting my voice reflect the rising panic I’m feeling.

“Wow, as expected of Peter Pan! No fear at all. So brave. I’d admire you longer, but we have other things I deem more urgent to take care of first. Let’s go, gentlemen!” he roars as he runs downstairs to go fetch weapons.

“Why does he keep saying ‘gentlemen’, though?” I ask my friends as we follow him.

“Before he was brought here, he used to live a great life in London. You know, with the aristocracy and all. He was a baron or something. I think he wants to replicate this kind of life here, now that he’s free. I mean, have you seen his bedroom? It’s full of red velvet and long drapes and large bed and all that. He’s really living the life,” Chanyeol sighs in disappointment, wrapping his arm over my shoulder and squeezing it slightly before letting go.

We go take our weapons from the captain and head back upstairs immediately. This time, we can finally sense the danger approaching as the enemy’s cannon sound roars again, but this time, much closer. I look behind and see the biggest boat I have ever seen gliding soundlessly towards us, no lights seen on the ship. ‘They needed a lot, you see, as the ship was immense. I would say… As big as the Titanic, at least.’ Oh Gramps, you have never been so right. God, I wish you haven’t.

“Alright gentlemen, assemble! For some of you, this might be the last speech I give you before the war. So I wish to tell you that your help has been highly appreciated all these years, and should you die tonight, you will be remembered as a hero that fought for what is right, and the peace of Neverland in a whole. If you wish to flee, during the war, don’t hesitate. Everyone understands. But don’t go and think you will be accepted on this ship ever again. The men here are all brave, courageous, righteous and prideful. If you have no pride, then run away all you want, because I won’t, even if I’m the last man standing. As a man of this crew, I will never, ever run away!” he yells as we all follow him and raise our own weapons with shouts of war. “Men, attack!” he ends in a powerful roar and we all yell in return and run to the edge of the boat, towards the Jolly Roger that was now next to us.

We all wait in silence for their next moves. Just when I’m getting tired, we hear yells from their side as some men on ropes fly towards us, brandishing their own weapons. We rise again and yell once more, more awake than ever. Like that, the battle is engaged. I do fight some random men that come to me but I have one goal. Finding Hook, and possibly kill him. I slash at everything in my view, my eyes looking around when I can. There, on the front deck, I finally see him. He’s fighting with Roger. I run with all my might, avoiding all the slashes I can as I make my way quickly towards them. There’s no way I’m letting this chance go. I stalk over them slowly when finally I’m left alone by the men on the lower deck. I take my sword out soundlessly and wait for my perfect chance.

“Hook, why did you come?” Roger asks, grunting while parring all the hits he could.

“You know more than anyone why I came, Roger. For the boy, of course,” he answers effortlessly while attacking the older man without any mercy. “And I should be able to see him soon, if he’s smart enough to notice me in this lifetime. Or maybe he’s just having fun with the other idiots downstairs. Either way, I don’t care. I’m going to have his head on a pike by morning. Then, I’ll finally be able to have her for myself. Oh, I can’t wait-“

“You sure talk a lot for an old man,” I get up suddenly, fury spreading through my veins as I walk slowly towards them.

They stop moving and Hook’s head snaps towards me, a smirk plastered on his face. He pushes Roger away and moves towards me as well. I make a quick eye contact with Roger and tell him with my eyes to go away, which he obliges fast. When Hook and I are finally alone, we both raise our swords at the same time.

“Hello, Peter. Have you missed me?”
