A Trip To Neverland

Following Advices Better Than Ever

I walk down the street, following the exact same path I had taken an hour ago, when Grandpa had just told me everything. It was only an hour ago but it feels like it’s already been days. I head straight towards the park I went to and sit down on the swing, waiting for something precisely. Or rather, someone. And just like magic, some 30 minutes after, she came.

“Oh Sehun, am I right? We met an hour ago. I’m Eun Ji’s mother, remember?”

I look up to satisfyingly lock my gaze with the foreign young woman I had met before. I nod to her, grinning widely.

“Yeah, that’s me. How are you?” I ask her out of courtesy.

“Oh, I’m doing great. I had a feeling I’d meet you here, that’s why I came back. What’s more, my younger daughter you met earlier wished to see you again.”

“But why would you want to come and see me again?” I respond, curious. I have a feeling I know where this is going.

“Well, you know. You looked kind of lost earlier and I was wondering if maybe I could answer some of your questions.”

Her face is straight but her voice makes me understand immediately that I thought of the right person to ask all my questions about my adventure that’s to come.

“Why, thank you! But maybe we could do this somewhere more… private?” I say, looking around as if someone could hear us over the happy but loud laughter of children playing.

She nods and leads me to a place I had never noticed before, called the “Jolly Roger”. I bite back a laugh as I realize the allusion made to Peter Pan with this.

“The name says it all,” I muse to the woman in front of me. “Why so obvious though?”

“The more obvious it is, the harder it is to find,” she answers without turning around to look at me.

I nod in agreement even if she can’t see me. She opens the wooden door and we climb up old, narrow stairs that crack at every step we take.

“Be cautious, you could fall. I’m pretty sure you noticed the lightning isn’t so good in here,” she calls to me.

“Okay, thanks I will-“

Without even having the time to finish my sentence, I tumble forward and I stop my fall by putting both my hands ahead of me, causing a loud crack to come from the stairs. I feel my cheeks heating slightly as I hear Wendy’s laughter in front of me. I get up quickly and look cautiously at my feet all the way upstairs until I arrive at the next level, the woman still waiting for me.

“Don’t worry about the fall, kiddo. It happens to the best of us.”

She pats me on the back before turning to the door in front of us. She takes out a rusted small key from her pocket and turns it in the lock, stopping after a small clicking sound is heard. She puts her hand on the knob and opens the door, only to reveal a pitch-black room.

“After you,” she says mischievously while bowing to me.

I roll my eyes slightly and find the switch to open the lights almost immediately. My tension that had risen up along with expectation is swiped away as soon as I realize, with much disappointment, that there is only a table, two chairs and a big old wardrobe at the back. Wendy must feel my disappointment because I hear her giggle before she walks in front of me and gestures me to follow her. I walk towards the wardrobe next to her and wait.

“So… What is this?” I wonder, pointing to the large object in front after a few seconds of silence.

“This… This is the fastest way to get you in Neverland,” she sighs.

“What? Hold up. First, this is just like in Narnia. Are we in Narnia? Because no one told me. My grandpa just said I was Peter Pan, not every children’s bedtime stories main character. And second, why do you sound so… Unsure?”

She glances at me quickly and turns her gaze back to the wooden furniture.

“I know it looks cliché and all because of the wardrobe, but it really is the fastest way in there. Also, the thing I’m worried about is that it’s completely random. It could bring you right next to your goal or at the farthest place from there. We never know. Only a few people have been able to control the wardrobe to bring them where they wanted.”

“Then why on earth have you brought me here, when I have a million chances to ruin it all from the beginning and get noticed by Hook?”

“Because you were one of these few people, Peter. Uhm, I mean Sehun. What do you prefer, actually?”

I look back to her, stunned.

“You mean I was one of those people? Wait, did I come here before? In my previous life?”

“Yeah, you did. But you still didn’t answer me. What’s your preference?” she nags.

“I don’t really care, because these two persons are both in this body. Call me whatever you want.”

“Then I suggest you get used to be called Peter, because that’s all you’ll hear in Neverland. Now that we’ve settled on your name, let me tell you two things: First, your mission is to get to the Black Pearl and save her from Hook before he gets to her. You’ve basically just become a participant in a race of a lifetime. You get to her first, you can come back with her or stay there and live peacefully, either way it doesn’t matter. But he gets to her first and you can say goodbye to Neverland as a whole. That including you, Jacob and her. The only three people who could really change the course of that world’s history.”

I feel the weight of my future actions and decisions fall on my shoulders and I sink a little bit at the thought that one wrong move from me could exterminate a world that I used to be a part of. That I will be a part of. That I always was a part of.

“The second thing is, to get to where you want to go, you will need a map and a crew. And by that I mean a ship and people working on it to help you. You just need to go to the place called the “Pan” and you’ll find everything there. Oh, you must tell the bartender that you were sent here from the “Jolly Roger” or else that won’t happen. He’ll understand. And if he doesn’t, just say that Wendy and Jacob sent you. That’ll do the trick. So! Now you’re all ready for the big adventure that’s waiting for you on the other side of this old wardrobe. Just keep thinking about the “Pan” and it should work, since it’s you.”

She opens the door and I peek in it, just to be once again disappointed.

“What, you thought there would be some magical multicolored vortex? Of course not,” she scoffs when she sees my expression. “You go in there and say: Take me to where we never grow up because I believe in fairies and you’ll be gone.”

Now it’s my turn to laugh.

“Are you serious? That’s the magic incantation? It’s lame.”

“Yeah, but it still works. Okay, get in there already. Don’t forget your suitcase, there we go. Okay, I’m closing the door! Have a nice trip!”

She comes close to closing the door, but at the last moment she decides otherwise and opens it again.

“Peter, I think I should tell you… If, I mean, when you come back, I won’t remember you. I was just told to give you all this information by an old man, who seems to be your grandfather, but the very moment I step out of here I won’t remember you. The enchantment will be over. So, I just wanted to tell you… I’m sure you will achieve your goal and save Neverland. Oh, and if you see me again, don’t hesitate to come over and talk, I’m sure we’ll be able to be friends again. That’s it! It was nice meeting you, Peter!”

She closes the door and I say the incantation. I feel myself being sucked from behind and I only have the time to say:

“It was nice meeting you in this lifetime, Wendy!”

~~~~~~~~~~
She sat on the cold rock and sighed for the millionth time. She hummed lightly a random air as she combed her jet black, wavy hair. But all of a sudden, an electric shock ran down her spine and her head snapped up.
“Peter,” she breathed.
Just wanted to tell you guys ;) If you/your friends/family have ever had braces, do you have some tips for me? Please let me know in the comments! Have a good day :)
