The Flower Boy

Nice To Meet You

Back to school on Monday, Seungcheol and I didn’t know whether talking to each other was the right thing to do. Around the house we’d avoid times of conversation we’d usually have. I just wanted to hold him, the more we avoided each other, but we couldn’t decide on how to spend the short time we had together. To spent it apart to make the suffering later on hopefully easier, or to spend every moment together as if we were dying tomorrow. The moment Seungcheol was pulled away at the school gate by a soccer friend, I knew what I needed to do.

I waited with the wind playing a tune in my ears. I closed my eyes for a moment, letting myself go. It had only been half a day but all through classes, Seungcheol would play in my mind. Stupid simple things like “I wonder what he’s doing now?” or “Seungcheol would like this.”
“Wonah?” My eyes opened immediately to the voice. I turned around to see him at the doorway of the rooftop. My heart took over my body and I raced towards him, wrapping my arms tightly around his waist, and tucking my head under his chin. With all the force I ran with, Seungcheol was nearly taken out. He pulled back his weight, “woah! Be careful Wonah!”
“Sorry, I just missed you so much,” I muffled a little embarrassed into his shirt feeling the warmth reach into my body. Feeling him laugh lightly as his chest moved, he wrapped his arms around my back and nuzzled my head down with his chin.
“I missed you too.” The words ached in my ears.
“Don’t let go of me Seungcheol,” I said before I released my tight hold of him and had a proper look at his face. His expression showing thoughts of sadness disguised under a small smile.
“I would never Wonah. I’ll always be here, and if you are going to move, I want to spend every moment I can with you,” he broke down a little, and I saw tears building in his eyes. This only encouraged my eyes to start running too. He pulled me into warm arms again as he both exhaled against each other’s chests. The bell rang, bringing both of our attention to school again. We slowly said our goodbyes and promises to meet as soon as school was over.

As we got home, Wonwoo, Seungcheol and I decided on watching tv for a bit. Wonwoo constantly being disgusted whenever Seungcheol and I would hug or do anything romantic.
“Any one want a drink? I’ll go get them,” I said getting up from the couch as the ads of the show started playing.
“I’ll come with you,” Seungcheol said shadowing me as I got up off the couch.
“Can you guys not?! I’m right here!” Wonwoo said annoyed at us. As Seungcheol met me in the kitchen we both looked at each other and laughed a little.
“So I was thinking that we should go on a date sometime,” Seungcheol suggested as he brought three cups to the counter and I grabbed a drink from the fridge. I smiled and nodded at him, “sure, where do you want to go?”
“Hmm… maybe bowling?” He said holding the cup carefully on the counter as I poured juice out of the bottle.
“Or the arcade!” I excitedly suggested as I finished up filling one cup. I hadn’t been there in ages. Just then, the front door closed, and I froze for a second realising who it was. I looked at Seungcheol worried, as he looked back at first confused, but then also concerned. I walked out to the front of the house by the door seeing my dad appear from the door, taking off his shoes.
“DAD! Hi, why are you home?!” I said concerned, and worryingly about what he would think of a boy staying at our house.
“I’ve got the rest of the day off… who’s this?” He said stepping into the house more and catching Seungcheol who was standing a bit behind me.
“Hello sir, i’m Seungcheol,” he stepped forward bravely and bowed politely to my dad.
“He’s my friend Dad. He’s been staying here for a while because of his situation at home,” I said gesturing to Seungcheol nervously, fiddling with my fingers a little. I wanted Seungcheol to meet my father, but not like this. I wanted him to have a good impression on him!
“Well, i’m sorry I didn’t meet you earlier. Wonah why didn’t you tell me sooner?” Dad asked me as he placed him bag on dining room table. I followed him there still concerned about how he was going to handle this.
“I didn’t think you’d find out to be honest…” I muttered to myself. Dad laughed a little.
“You’re just like your mum,” he said looking at me. I suddenly felt a little proud, and sad. I missed mum, and just the mention of her, made me sad. Ding dong~! We all turned our heads to the door bell’s sound. I ran to it and opened it immediately thinking it was a parcel delivery. Suddenly a familiar pair of eyes met mine. Expect the owner of them was much taller and older than Seungcheol. I bowed immediately realising who this was. “Hello sir, i’m Wonah.” My heart escalating as now my worries stretched to what kind of impression i’d make on his father. Seungcheol appeared over my shoulder.
“Dad what are you doing here?” He said a little worried and annoyed.
“I’ve come to bring you home,” he said with worry in both his eyes and voice. I just then realised how selfish i’ve been with Seungcheol. Sure, I liked him, maybe even loved him, but that was no reason for me to keep him next to me all the time. There were others that worried over him before me and loved him before me.
“He’s right Seungcheol. You should go home now. Imagine how worried your mum must be right now,” I said to Seungcheol sadly.
“Okay, i’ll go. Thank you Wonah, thank you Wonwoo, and thank you Mr Kim. I’m sorry I didn’t get to introduce myself properly, but I hope to later on,” he bowed to my father before heading to my room to pack his stuff. I bowed to his father before following Seungcheol. With his suitcase already out, my heart sunk a little. I raced over to him kneeling by his open suitcase and hugged him. “I’ll miss you,” I said with all enthusiasm gone.
“Hey! Who says i’m going all together? You’ll still see me and school,” he said letting go of my hug and smiling at me, holding my arms softly, “and plus, we still have that date we have to do.” I smiled at him and quickly pecked him on the cheek before turning to his luggage and packing with him.

So much for spending every moment together… Though i’d see him a lot still, I still felt like it wasn’t enough. There was only about two weeks before we were going to move. I was being selfish again...
