Half-siblings

Vanessa's eyes fluttered open. "What happened?"

Heechul spoke softly. "You were hit by a car, love."

She nodded and looked to her other side. She stiffened when she saw Kangin's mom. "Who are you?"

Kangin's mom smiled sweetly and said, "I'm your mother."

Vanessa tensed even more. She looked at Kangin from the corner of her eye. "I have no idea what you are talking about."

Heechul smiled reassuringly. "We already saw the video, Vanessa. There is no going back to how we all were."

Vanessa pouted. "It was working though."

Heechul shook his head. "It wasn't working. Vanessa, the doctor said it looked like you waited for the car to hit you."

Vanessa sighed. "Can I talk to Kangin alone?"

Her mother nodded and left. Heechul looked into Vanessa's eyes and asked, "Are you sure?"

Vanessa nodded. Heechul slowly got up and left the room. Vanessa looked at Kangin and patted the spot beside her. "Come and sit, Kangin. We have a lot to talk about."

Kangin slowly got up and went over to her. He sat down beside her. Vanessa took a deep breath. "Kangin, I'm sorry you had to find out this way. I know you don't want to acknowledge me as your sister. Just pretend you don't know. I'm fine with not being included in the family."

Under her breath, she whispered, "I'm use to it."

She didn't mean for Kangin to hear the last part, but he did. He asked, "Why didn't you tell me?"

Vanessa shrugged. "Why would I? You made it perfectly clear to everyone you didn't want your sister. You belittled me and made fun of me as if I was a parasite. You just didn't know it was me."

Kangin nodded.
