Please Don't Get Too Friendly

~~5 months gap~~

I got out of the voice class, laughing with Seo Hyun, the friend I had newly made 3 months ago. We had met during my first group class, where everybody knew each other and I, of course, was the new awkward kid. When my kind teacher had asked me to do an example, my voice had completely stopped working and it was Seo Hyun that helped me by suggesting we do it together. I had felt the need to thank her after class and we had become close friends ever since then. When I talked about her to Sasha, she became so jealous she refused to answer my emails for 2 whole days.

"Hey Amy, let's go to the cafeteria. I'm really hungry," said my friend as we walked through the hallway to the elevator.

I agreed and we entered the elevator, still talking about how the girl named Seung Hye was so annoying, acting all cute with the guys while being a real pest with the rest of the girls. We kept laughing about that when the doors opened, to let other people get in. We stopped talking, just in case it was the person in question. But instead of waht we thought, familiar faces walked through and greeted me eagerly.

"Amy! What a coincidence! We haven't seen you in a while, because we are so busy," exclaimed a surprised Suho.

All the guys greeted me while Seo Hyun stared at us, confused.

"You... you know them personally, Amy?" she murmured in my ear, intimidated as the guys spoke to me.

I nodded, embarassed. She gaped at me. I decided to ignore that and continued to make the conversation with my friends, also a little confused about what to do. To say the truth, I had never told Seo Hyun I was close to EXO in fear she would despise me like the other girl, Seung Hye. I mean, she was my only friend. I didn't want to lose her. After what seemed like an eternity, the elevator reached the first floor and we exited it all together.

"Are you going to the cafeteria? Us too! Let's all eat together," suggested Baekhyun happily.

We both nodded, unsure of how to act, but for different reasons. We all reached the cafeteria while Chen was telling my embarrassing story of a growling stomach to my friend. Luckily, she didn't seem too mad at me for keeping my relation with them a secret.

"Girls, tell us what you want and go get a table for all of us. We'll buy you what you want," proposed Lay like a gentleman.

We told him what we wanted, thanked him then went to find a table for eleven people. Thankfully, the comapny had bought tables for those occasions, so we didn't have to put tables together. We found one at the back and sat down. Seo Hyun turned to me seriously, which made me nervous about what she was going to say.

"Amy, you know... You could have told me about you knowing them personally. I mean, of course I'm not angry at you, it's understandable. You probably thought I was going to be jealous and hate you or something, right? But I swear to God that I'm not. Just don't keep any secrets from me again, okay? Well... You can keep secrets from me all you want, but just know that I'm here for you and you can tell me anything. I really want to be close to you. We have known each other for 3 whole months now," she said, to my big surprise. And then, she began speaking super fast, apparently very excited all of a sudden. "Oh my God, I actually spoke to EXO like we're friends. Wow. And that's thanks to you. Oh my God! Thank you for being my friend Amy! I just realised everything because I was so shocked before, but this is really amazing. Let's continue to be good friends in the future, okay?" she giggled cutely.

The guys all arrived soon after and they all sat down, Lay and Chanyeol giving us our lunches. We thanked them and quickly, we all started talking about what had been going on for each of us. At the end of the lunch, after about an hour and a half, we all finished and the guys had to go for their next schedule.

"Sorry girls, I really hate to leave you alone, but we need to go," said a puppy-eyed Baekhyun.

The guys all punched him lightly, making fun of him.

"You're such a bad playboy, hyung. Just stick to eyeliner, will you?" Sehun criticised teasingly.

"Oh, you think you could be better?" he replied challenging his younger member.

"I'd love to show you how it's done, hyung, but because of you silliness we'll be late if we don't hurry," the maknae backfired.

We all laughed out loud as the leader dragged the Beagle line member through the cafeteria, telling us to have a nice day. We waved back at them happily and got up as well, preparing to go meet the CEO as we had been asked to before by Mrs. Nam.

"I felt that you were acting weird with them. There was like... a weird atmosphere, but not with all of them. Did something perhaps happen with one of the members, Amy?" my friend asked me while we were walking towards the elevator.

Goddamn, she sure is something else. How could she perceive that when there were nine members? She has a scary intuition. I looked at her, amazed.

"There is something, isn't there? Wait, let me guess," she went on, gradually excited.

I gulped and waited as she seemed like going back in her memories.

"Not him, not him, surely not him... Oh. Yeeeees," she slurred, giving me a creepy look. "It's Chanyeol, isn't it?"

I snapped my head at her and gaped.

"How did you know?" was all I was able to ask.

"You were acting so awkward to him," she explained. "When he gave you your lunch, I saw you not looking at him in the eyes and you merely murmured a thanks. How could I not realise that. Oh, and also. During the whole time we were with them, you spoke with most of the members, but between you and him, there was this weird tension I didn't quite get that floated between the two of you." She suddenly gasped, even more excited. "Do you perhaps love him?"

I blushed furiously and stayed silent. Am I that obvious about it? Because I certainly cannot be before I debut and become big.

"Oh, so you do. And, without wanting to get too ahead of myself, I would think the feeling is reciprocated."

My eyes flew to hers, wide like golf balls.

"No," I denied immediately. "He can't love me. I mean, I'm a nobody. He couldn't love me. He only thinks of me as a friend."

"That's not what I observed, but oh well," she sighed. I could see in her eyes she believed otherwise, which terrified me.

I can't let myself have false hopes. He's a top star and I'm still a trainee. Although I did feel something that night, 5 months ago, it's almost sure that I was just my silly and hopeful imagination. It has to be that. Or else I'm going to ruin myself running after something I can't ever have. We arrived at the 11th floor, where the CEO's office was. We greeted the secretary at her desk, next to the big glassed door on which was written 'Lee Soo Man'. We told her our names and and she let us go Inside with a gentle smile. Wow, the secretaries are so nice here. I wonder if they were trained to be that pretty and happy? We opened the door after knocking and entered. To our surprise, there were already 2 chatting girls in there. And one of them was no one else than Seung Hye, the girl we both didn't like. The CEO greeted us and asked us to sit on the puffy leather couch that was left. We obediently sat down, waiting for the rest to be told.

"Girls, I summoned you here today because I have great news for you. I have decided that all four of you will be the next group to make their debut."

Seo Hyun and I stared at each other in surprise. My heart became conflicted instantly. On one hand, I was amazingly happy to debut with the only girl friend I had made during my first 5 months in Korea, but on another hand I hated the fact that I had to group with the hypocrite girl that had threatened me 5 months ago.

"We have already decided everything, you only need to apply all the advices you manager will give you. Jung Ah-ssi, you may come in," he called.

The door opened to let us see a radiant Jung Ah walking in. I suddenly became all siles, now that I had the confirmation that the woman that I considered as my second mother was going to follow me for a long time now. She then opened her mouth to transmit us new information.

"Hi girls who don't know me, I'm Sok Jung Ah, your manager. I hope we'll get along," she began. "As CEO Lee said before, everything has been decided. Your group name will be TetrA, with a capital A for areumdaum (beauties, in this case) and Amy, who will be the leader." She smiled at me proudly before continuing. "Tetra means four, which is your number of members. Pretty simple, yet catchy, don't you think?"

We all stayed silent, waiting for more. She sighed, seemingly disappointed by our lack of response.

"Well, that's it for now. You'll begin living together in dorm from now on, so please get along well. I'll also be living with you, don't worry. After all, someone needs to take of you. You will go pack your things from your place and you will be at this address at precisely 9:30 PM. I'm giving a lot of time, so don't be late or you'll have trouble." Her eyes seemed to linger a bit on Seung Hye. I bet she could already feel she was a load of trouble.

But what was coming to me was even bigger trouble.
