Love In New York

Granny Anne.

After a long day of work running around the restaurant, it was finally time for closing. It was a successful night. [11PM] Ivy, Jason, Ben, William, and Charlie gathered together at the front to help clean up. Ben sweep the floor while Jason was moping the floors. William were wiping down the tables and chairs. Ivy were restocking the napkin containers, pepper bottles, and other things too. Charlie was at the bar area to organize the alcohol on the cabinet's. After 30 minutes later, everyone gathered to say their goodbyes and Ivy thought it would be good to tell everyone the results from Dan Wright.

Ivy : before you guys leave, there's something Dan Wright wanted me to tell you guys.
William (*asks Ivy) : what is it Ivy ?
Ivy : he loved the spaghetti and he is going to write a good review on his blog.
Ivy : he's going to give the restaurant an awesome review.
Ivy : it should be up by now if you wanted to check it out.
Charlie (*asks Ivy) : did you tell him the truth about the recipe ?
Ivy : at first i said it was your recipe but he didn't believe me.
Ivy : so i had to tell him the truth and said that i made it myself with my own recipe.
Ivy : i hope you aren't mad that i said the truth. he is a food blogger critic online.
Charlie : no, its fine.
Charlie : i wanted to tell you guys that i have made up my mind about Ivy's minimum wage.
Jason (*asks) : what is it ?
Ben (*asks) : it cant be more than ours.
Charlie : its $12 an hour and she works everyday of the week, the same as others.
William : nice.
William (*says to Ben & Jason) : you guys should go home now.
William : we'll see you at work tomorrow morning.
Jason : alright. goodnight guys.
Charlie : bye.

Jason, Ben, and William waved at Charlie and Ivy goodbye and left out the restaurant. Charlie went after them to close the front door and turn off all of the signs. Before Charlie could make it upstairs, Ivy stopped him to tell him something that she didn't tell the others before about Dan Wright.

Ivy (*calls out his name) : Charlie.
Charlie (*turns around & asks) : huh ?
Ivy : there's something i left out earlier when Dan Wright told me something.
Charlie (*asks in confusion) : what is it ?
Ivy : Dan Wright said that you should consider letting me work in the kitchen.
Charlie (*asks) : what for ? why ?
Ivy : for the spaghetti recipe, the one you couldn't fix for yourself.
Charlie (*says confusingly) : Okay.....
Ivy : that's what he said. but i don't want to unless you want me to.
Ivy : i don't want to do anything you don't approve of.
Ivy : i'm just saying what he said that's all.
Charlie : i'll think about it.
Ivy (*asks as getting his attention) : and Charlie ?
Charlie (*asks as looking at Ivy) : what ?
Ivy : i can teach you how to cook the spaghetti recipe.
Ivy : all you need to do is ask me and i'll help you.
Ivy : i'm more than okay to teach you the recipe.

Charlie nods his head and walked upstairs to his room. Ivy just stood there breathing and trying to stop being nervous. She stood there for a while and she went upstairs to get ready for bed. After a long day, she took a shower and wore her pajamas. She sat on her bed thinking about how her grandmother is doing so she gave her a call on her cellphone.

Granny Anne (*picks up the phone & asks) : Ivy ? are you alright ? i got a bit worried.
Ivy : i'm sorry i couldn't call you. i was busy looking for an apartment and a job.
Granny Anne (*asks) : how did it go ?
Ivy : i got a room, its more like a studio.
Granny Anne (*asks) : so its big ? how did you manage to get one so quickly ?
Ivy : i looked through the New York Times newspapers from the hotel i was staying in.
Ivy : i met with the landlord the morning after.
Granny Anne (*says & asks) : that's great. so your living with him in his apartment ?
Ivy : i know its strange but it was a good deal.
Granny Anne : what about a job ? did you find one yet ?
Ivy : the landlord offered me a job at his restaurant.
Granny Anne : that's wonderful ! all in one day ?
Ivy : yeah.
Granny Anne : i'm so proud of you Ivy. your mom would've too if she was here.
Ivy : i know.
Granny Anne (*asks) : so when do you start working ?
Ivy : i started working just this evening and it was entirely busy.
Ivy : New York people do love their meals.
Granny Anne (*giggles through the phone)
Ivy (*asks) : Granny, do you remember mom's spaghetti recipe ?
Granny Anne : of course i remember. i couldn't forget it.
Ivy : i made some earlier and gave them to my co-workers here.
Ivy : they loved it so much and said it was delicious.
Granny Anne : i told you it was good.
Ivy : i never knew it was this good.
Granny Anne : its late over there. you should go to bed.
Ivy : yeah, i will. i'll talk to you later Granny.
Granny Anne : alright.
Ivy : goodnight.
Granny Anne : night.

Ivy hung up the phone and went to bed. Granny was still sitting in the kitchen table and got a phone call from Tom Bailey, who happens to be her close friend for years.

Granny Anne (*picks up the phone) : Hello ?
Tom Bailey : Anne ? are you still awake ?
Granny Anne : yeah its me, i'm still awake.
Tom Bailey (*asks) : what are you doing ?
Granny Anne : i was on the phone with Ivy just now.
Tom Bailey : i wanted to talk to you about her.
Granny Anne (*asks) : did you meet her today at dinner ?
Tom Bailey : yeah i did. she was everything i expected her to be.
Tom Bailey : the things you told me about her, you were right.
Granny Anne : that's good to hear.
Granny Anne (*asks) : can you look out for her for me ? im just worried for her.
Granny Anne : she's across the country and i cant be there for her or watch over her.
Tom Bailey : don't worry. i'm sure she'll be fine.
Tom Bailey : she has Charlie and William to look out for her.
Tom Bailey : she also have Jason and Ben too.
Tom Bailey (*asks) : does she know about us ?
Granny Anne : no. i want to wait until the holidays to tell her.
Tom Bailey : okay. i'll support whatever your decision is.
Granny Anne : thanks.
Tom Bailey : i'll see you on the holidays, okay ?
Granny Anne : alright Tom.
Tom Bailey : i'll see you then huh ?
Granny Anne : yeah.
