Ivy woke up the next morning filled with energy and ready to work for her first day. She got dressed into her own uniform. She actually made a decent transformation for work. Ivy grabbed her nice white collar half sleeve shirt and wore her black skinny jeans with her black and white converse. Then she tied her hair half way up like in the Chinese movies with her bangs out of her face and walked downstairs with her resume in her hand.

As she was walking downstairs, she saw Charlie sitting at one of the tables waiting for her. She took a seat in front of him and they started to talk about the job.

Charlie (*speaks up) : I want to see your resume.

Ivy slide her resume in front of Charlie and he took a look at it for about 2 minutes. Then he put it down and look at Ivy asking her questions about where she had worked the past few years in her life.

Charlie : so you have worked at 10 places in your entire life ?
Ivy : yes. i have worked at department stores, restaurants, and business companies.
Charlie : Impressive. which ones do you like working for ?
Ivy : i dont have a favorite.
Charlie : why is that ?
Ivy : because i liked every place ive worked for.
Charlie : which paid you the most ?
Ivy : isnt that a little private ?
Charlie : its is but if you want this job then you must answer my questions.
Ivy : the business company.
Charlie : you have outstanding job experiences from your previous bosses.
Charlie : they mustve liked you.
Ivy : i guess you can say that. i just like working.
Charlie : and what about school ?
Ivy : i attended UCLA for 2 years and i graduated afterwards.
Charlie : only 2 years ?
Ivy : yes. there is a 2 year graduate program for those who finish GE courses, only.
Ivy : after that, i moved to Florida to attend a small community college there.
Charlie : and you also graduated 2 more years ?
Ivy : yes, thats right.
Charlie : what was your major in Florida ?
Ivy : i majored in Art.
Charlie : alright then. thats all i'll be asking you.
Charlie : you've got the job. its the same as any restaurant jobs.
Ivy : i understand that.
Charlie : i'll train you before the restaurant opens tonight.
Charlie : so your minimum wage paycheck will depend on how well you work today.
Charlie : everyone is different so dont worry about fairness.
Charlie : you clean up quite good with your uniform.
Ivy (*smiles & says) : thank you.

Charlie gave back Ivy her resume. She puts it away in her folder. Charlie gave Ivy 5 minutes to clean up before training her.

After an hour later, Ivy was trained and good to go. For the next couple of hours before opening, William, Ben, Jason, and Ivy were talking to each other and got to know one another. Charlie was looking through the glass circle door from the kitchen and saw how happy everyone looked getting along with each other.

Then the hour came and it was [5PM]. William, Jason, Ben, and Ivy prepared for opening. They divided each area to work. William took the front half while Jason took the middle. Ben took the corner back and Ivy took the other corner in the back. Customers were coming in slowly and were being served. It was getting busy as the hour went by. A man, daily regular, Tom Bailey, came and sat at the table that Ivy assigned him at. Ivy let him look at the menu before ordering. After setting plates down for the other customers in her section, she went back to the man.

Ivy (*says as taking out her order pad) : I'm Ivy and i'll be your server tonight.
Ivy (*asks) : what can i get for you ?
Tom Bailey : I want to get the usual.
Ivy : Im so sorry. i wish i knew what your usual is.
Ivy : you see, today is my first day at work.
Tom Bailey (*smiles & says) : its okay. Im glad your being honest.
Tom Bailey : its the Steak on The Rye, my usual.
Ivy : how do you like your steak sir ?
Tom Bailey : Medium Rare please.
Ivy : Would you like mash potatoes or cut sliced fries ?
Tom Bailey : Mash potatoes.
Ivy : mixed veggies or brocolli and asparagus ?
Tom Bailey : Mixed Veggies please.
Ivy : What would you like to drink ?
Tom Bailey : get me your famous red wine.
Ivy (*smiles & says) : i definitely know what that is.
Ivy : alrighty.
Ivy : you have a medium rare Steak on The Rye with mash potatoes and mixed veggies.
Ivy : along with our famous red wine.
Tom Bailey : thats right.
Ivy (*giggles & says) : i got the exact order you got a few days ago.
Ivy : i can tell you that its delicious.
Tom Bailey : i prefer that over everything else here.
Ivy : so you have tried everything on the menu ?
Tom Bailey : yeah. i wouldnt recommend you order the spagetti.
Ivy : so ive heard. how long have you known William and Charlie for ?
Tom Bailey : since the day they opened.
Ivy : oh i see. i dont want to keep you waiting. i'll go get your order ready.
Tom Bailey : thank you.

Ivy went to get the customer's ready. As she was getting the red wine from the bar area, Jason came over to talk to her while getting another customer's drink ready.

Jason : hey. i saw you talking to our regular, Tom Bailey.
Ivy : the man with the red wine ? yeah. i just ordered from him.
Jason : you know his usual order ?
Ivy : i asked him.
Jason : really ? and he didnt yell at you for not knowing ?
Ivy : no. he was actually really nice to me.
Ivy : i just asked him and he was okay with telling me it.
Ivy : i will always remember his usual.
Jason : why ?
Ivy : its the same thing i would order if i came here.
Ivy : well, actually i really did a few days ago when i came here.
Ivy : lets get back to work Jason. Charlie is always watching.
Ivy : i don't want to be fired on my first day.

Then Ivy walked away from the bar area with the red wine and a set of silverware in her hand. She walked over to Tom Bailey and set down the glass in front of him along with the silverware. And she walked away to help another table with their order. Ben, Jason, and William were everywhere and taking care of the customers. Ivy went to the kitchen to see if her customers food were ready and they were. She used both of her hands on two sides hands full with plates of food. She walked carefully from one table to the other to serve it. Tom Bailey were the last to be served and Ivy set the plate in front of him. She invited him to enjoy his meal and walked away. Ivy went back to doing her work all around her section.

After a while later, Tom Bailey was done with his food and Ivy came over to get his plate and talked to him before he pays for the bill.

Ivy (*asks as getting Tom Bailey's plate) : Would you like some dessert ?

Ivy hands Tom Bailey the dessert menu that she got from her front pocket. Tom Bailey takes a look at it and couldn't find one that he was craving for.

Tom Bailey : which one would you suggest ?
Ivy (*giggles & says) : it depends what you are a fan of.
Tom Bailey : im actually not sure. im a fan of everything and anything. its a tragedy.
Ivy (*giggles & asks) : are you a fruit person ?
Tom Bailey : not really.
Ivy : how about Chocolate ?
Tom Bailey : i love Chocolate.
Ivy : i would recommend the 3 layer chocolate mousse cake. its really delicious.
Tom Bailey (*smiles & says) : i like the sound of that. i'll get that then.
Ivy : im on it.
Tom Bailey (*asks) : can i also get the check as well ?
Ivy (*says happily) : sure.
Ivy : i'll be right back.

Ivy walked away from the table and to the side of the bar where all of the deserts were in the glass cake refrigerated displayed. She carefully took out a piece of the 3 layer chocolate mousse cake and placed it in a plate. As Ivy was passing by the cashier machine, she picked up the bill for the other customers as well and brought it to them table by table. Then she brought the piece of cake and bill to Tom Bailey to this table.

She placed it down and walked away to do her other jobs. She went to other tables after the customers were leaving to clean up. She took all of the silverware, plates, and table cloth to the back and replaced the table with a set of new silverware, plates, and a table cloth. She went back to Tom Bailey and got his bill and he said his goodbyes and thank you. Then he left out the door. She stayed there and continued to clean up and replace everything.
