Grim Reaper

Chapter Two

~Chief Choi~
Pacing, Clan Chief Choi stares at the picture on his desk. He’d been searching for his missing daughter for years. Because of his own mistake, she had been taken from him and had disappeared. The private investigator had just left after supplying three girls that could be his daughter. All of them had been adopted around the time that she had disappeared and hadn’t been tested for reaper powers. Picking up the fourth folder, he’d been told by the investigator that the girl in that folder had the least possibility, so he had ruled her out. He hadn’t even had time to look at the girl’s profile. About to open the folder, he’s interrupted by the door to his office opening. Looking up, he smiles as Jungkook and Maru cautiously come in. “We’re sorry sir for bothering you. We have something to ask of you.” The chief closes the open folders before turning to them. “What is it this time?” They look down before Maru speaks “Our classmate doesn’t have a place to sleep tonight, so-““You want to allow them to use one of our rooms, am I right?” The chief asks and they nod. “That shouldn’t be a problem as long as I meet them.” Maru quickly holds up his pointer finger and hurries out before returning, dragging a girl in after him. She quickly bows when she sees the Chief and Jungkook says “This is Jang Hana, she’s in my class.” “I’m sorry to ask this of you. It’s alright if you don’t want to let me use a room, I can go to a twenty-four hour café or something.” Jang Hana quickly says, not looking at the Chief. “No, it’s fine. You may stay in one of Clan one’s rooms. Boys, go find my wife and have her help Miss Jang Hana.” The boys quickly nod and pull her out after them. Chief Choi sighs. Those boys never kept out of trouble, he didn’t know how they’d become the heads of their clans. The ceremony was in a year and they all had finished their classes, they just couldn’t seem to control themselves, but that was probably just their teenage hormones. Stacking up the folders, he puts them in his desk drawer before going down to the kitchens to see what was for dinner.
~Hana~
Maru drags me out and Jungkook follows, closing the door to the man’s office. “Cool, now we just have to find ahjumma.” I’m pulled down the hall and suddenly something flashes before my eyes. A memory or something. It was the hall that we were in, but instead of lights, there were candles on the walls. A woman was pulling me down the corridor. My point of view was shorter as if I was a child. The vision disappears and I fall to my knees. “Hana, are you okay? Maru, I told you, you were walking too fast.” Jungkook helps me to my feet as I process what I’d seen. “I’m sorry Hana. That’s your name right? Can I just say Hana instead of Jang Hana because we’re the same age?” I slowly nod and he grins. “Boys, who’s your pretty friend?” We look over at a woman that stood before us. My jaw drops, she had been the woman in my vision. “Oh, ahjumma, I mean Miss Choi. This is our classmate. We asked Chief Choi if she would be able to use a room in Clan one’s section tonight because she doesn’t have a place to sleep tonight. He told us to come to you.” Jungkook explains and I look at the floor. She reaches forward and lifts my chin, making me look at her. Something changes in her eyes and she smiles with a tender, warm glow. “Follow me. Boys, go to your rooms and tidy them up, I’m bringing her to you after I show her the room.” The fear in the boys’ eyes is real and they quickly bolt down the hall. “Hana, walk with me.” I do and she starts talking.
“I once had a child also. She had the same name as you, Hana. She was the sweetest little thing, loved to spend her time outside with the other kids. I tried to get her into dresses and pink, but she preferred pants and black. I guess I couldn’t blame her, she was too much like me to like those things. But one day she was kidnapped and we couldn’t find her, no matter how much we searched. Even if she might be dead, throughout the years, I’ve kept updating her room, according to her age and what I would’ve like to wear when I was her age. In Clan one, there aren’t any teenage girls, so I’m allowing you to use Hana’s room. Maybe you can be my daughter.” She jokes and opens the door to a room, beckoning me in. I cautiously go in and gasp, the room was beautiful.
“Yes, I didn’t know what accents I could use, so I just went with this. I figured her body type would be kind of like you and me, so the clothes in the closet should fit you. I’ll wait outside while you freshen up.” She closes the door behind her and I go to the closet, surprised that there were even outfits set up. Picking one, I put it on.

Looking at the shoes, I pick the skateboard shoes that were in my size, pulling them on. Grabbing my phone, I stick it in my pocket before going into the bathroom and brushing my hair and washing my face. Quickly going outside, I earn a gasp from the woman and she smiles, making me spin around. “You look beautiful, let’s go see those rambunctious boys now.” I nod and she holds out her hand. I take it and she intertwines our fingers, pulling me along. A happiness bubbles up in me. I’d never had a mother, just that old man that I called dad. Last year, I’d done a paternity test to see if I was really his daughter. It came out negative. This woman was like the mother I’d never had. We stop in a large circular room that opens into eight different hallways, including the one we’d just come out of. There are signs above each doorway and I see the sign of each clan. Looking back at the sign above the doorway that we’d just left, I see the Grim Reaper’s symbol. “Hana, follow me.” I quickly do and she knocks on the first door in the Ghost Reaper’s section. “Are you done cleaning yet?” There’s a crash and Myung Ho shouts “No, not yet! Shit, give me a second!” We laugh and after a minute, the door opens with a sweating Myung Ho. “Are you alright? How dirty was your room to have you sweating like that?” Miss Choi asks and I laugh. “It wasn’t, my room was clean, and I was just working out.” Miss Choi shrugs and pushes him aside, pulling me into his room. “This is Myung Ho’s room, if you need anything just come to one of the boys’ rooms and they’ll help. Won’t you?” She glares at him and he nods, patting at himself with a towel. “Now let’s go see the others.” She pulls me and I quickly close the door behind us. “Each of the boys have the first room from the common area, so,” She points at each hall and tells me who was in each room. “I suppose we should go see Maru, he should be done by now.” She pulls me along and I grin, I loved this woman. “Maru, I don’t care if you’re naked, I’m coming in!” She announces and doesn’t get an answer, so she opens the door, pulling me in. The room was pretty normal, a TV was on, a racing game on pause. “Did someone call me?” A door opens and Maru comes out, his hair wet, water droplets rolling down his body and a towel around his waist. “Holy shit!” He yells and quickly goes back into the bathroom, slamming the door behind him as Miss Choi laughs her head off. “Ya! Hana, close your eyes!” He yells and I immediately do. “Are they closed?” He asks and Miss Choi confirms it, gasping for breath. I hear the door open again and he walks past me to what I assumed was the closet. “You’re just going to put your clothes on there?” Miss Choi asks and I keep my eyes shut. “It’s not like she’s looking, I’m done anyways.” Maru says and comes to stand in front of me. “You can open your eyes now.” I slowly do and he sighs. “Honestly, why couldn’t I have had more of a warning?” “I’m sorry.” I say and he shakes his head. “It was ahjumma’s fault, not yours. Ahjumma, did you go see Jungkook yet?” She shakes her head and he pushes us out, following us. “Let’s go.” We go into Jungkook’s room and he looks over at us from where he was sitting watching a G-Dragon concert on the TV. “Maru, I could hear you yelling from all the way over here. Did they catch you naked or something?” “I was this close to dropping my towel!” Maru pinches the air and Miss Choi starts laughing again. “I’m leaving her in here. Do you remember how to get to your room?” I nod. “It’s the first one in the hall, straight across.” “Good, I’ll see you three at dinner.” She leaves and I wave a little before turning to the boys. “Did you see anything?” Maru asks, looking at me suspiciously. I shake my head. “All I saw was you in a towel all flustered.” Jungkook snickers and Maru sighs. “Here, let’s dry your hair, can I grab a towel from your bathroom?” I ask Jungkook and he points at a door on the other side of the room. Going into the bathroom, I grab a towel from the rack and someone jumps out of the shower, causing me to scream and slip on the wet floor. Yugyeom lurches forward and catches me before my head hits the floor. “You fucking bastard! You don’t do that in a goddamn bathroom! What if I had slipped and cracked open my head?! Huh!” I could feel myself start to cry as I yell at him. “What happened?” Jungkook asks from the doorway and kneels down next to me. “Are you okay, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?” “The fucking jackass jumped out at me and I almost cracked my head open on the fucking floor!” I breathe, trying to stop the tears coming from my eyes. “I’m sorry, Hana. I didn’t really think I’d scare you that much.” “Didn’t think that’d scare me that much?!” I stare at him, the tears stopping as anger boils up in me. “OF COURSE SOMEONE WOULD BE SCARED OF THAT ARE YOU BRAIN DEAD?! DO I NEED TO FUCKING TEACH YOU WHAT SCARES PEOPLE?” He quickly backs up and Jungkook grabs me, pulling me out of the bathroom and back out to his room. “Yugyeom, I told you to take a shower, not to scare the shit out of her!” BamBam complains from the room’s doorway. “This is complete bullshit.” I mutter, shoving BamBam out of the way and I go back to my room. Slamming the door shut, I sprawl out on the bed and stare up at the ceiling. Even if I was an ‘unregistered’ reaper, I still shouldn’t be acting like this. I shouldn’t have been scared by something so small. I shouldn’t even have been scared to tears. Closing my eyes, I drift into my dreams.

xD Yeah, it just kind of happened like that as I was writing. I'm one of those people that improvises while I write and doesn't plan anything out but how it's going to start... \(~.~)/
