Char POV
As I hang up the phone, I can’t think straight. I walk over to my boss’s office and knock on the door.
“Come in.” I hear from the other side.
I walk in and see Lianghui sitting at his desk.
“What’s wrong Char, you don’t look so good?” He asks, clearly worried.
“Taekwoon just got into an accident. They are taking him to the hospital” I manage to say as I start to break down into tears.
“Do you want me to take you there? You shouldn't drive in this state.” He offers me.
“That would be great.” I manage to get out between sobs.
Lianghui gets up from his desk, grabs his jacket, and comes over to me. We walk down to the parking lot together and get into his car. I tell him that Taekwoon is going to Sun Medical Center. It takes us about an hour to get there. Lianghui pulls up to the front doors of the E.R. and lets me out.
“You can take some time off from work. I will tell the team.” He says.
“Thank you.” I say to him and close the door.
I run into the E.R. and go straight to the receptionist’s desk. She tells me that he has been admitted and is in the ICU. I head over to the ICU as quickly as possible. One of the nurses helps me find Taekwoon’s room. As I walk in, I see doctor and nurses around him and hear machines beeping. One of the nurses hears me enter and comes over to me.
“Are you related to the patient?” She asks in a calm voice.
“He is my husband.” I respond.
“If you could wait a minute, the doctor will come and talk to you.”
I go and sit in the chair on the side of the room and wait for the doctor. When he finally comes over, he asks me to go to his office. I follow him with tears threatening to fall again. Inside his office, I sit across from him.
He looks at me with a sad look before speaking. “Mrs. Jung, your husband is in a coma. We believe that it was caused by a head trauma from his accident. Luckily, nothing else is wrong with him.”
“What doe this mean for him? Will he be okay?” I ask.
“It means the he is in a state of unconsciousness, but unlike sleep, he is completely unresponsive. For now, we have him on a ventilator to make sure he always has enough oxygen. We haven’t been able to detect anything else that is wrong. It is extremely rare for someone in a coma to have no other problems. Most patients with a coma caused by a head trauma have damage to the brain, but he doesn’t. You could call it a miracle.” He calmly explains to me.
“Can I go see him?”
“Of course. I will take you there.”
We stand up and leave his office. Walking back to Taekwoon’s room, I feel tears start to fall. Once we get to his room, the doctor leaves. Before entering, I pull out my phone and call Wonsik. He picks up after one ring.
“Char noona, what’s up?” He asks cheerily.
“Taekwoon is in the hospital. I need you to get Mingook from kindergarten and take care of him for a while.” I say, trying not to cry.
“Is hyung okay?” Wonsik’s voice was a bit shaky.
“I'm not sure. You can come visit later if you want, but make sure Mingook doesn’t come.” I say, and start crying.
“Noona? Are you okay? Do you want me to come now? I could send Hyuk to go get Mingook.” He asks worriedly.
A weak “yeah” is all I can manage to say in between sobs.
“I will be right there.” Wonsik says before hanging up.
Putting my phone away, I slowly open the door. Taekwoon is lying peacefully on the bed. I walk over to him sit down next to the bed.
“Yeobo, please wake up. I need you.” I hold his hand and wait for Wonsik to get here.
After thirty minutes of crying, I hear the door open. I lift my head and see Wonsik and Hongbin standing in the doorway.
“Wonsik-ah, Hongbin-ah.” I cry.
Wonsik comes over and hugs me. He pats my back until I calm down. Hongbin walks over to the bed and looks down at Taekwoon.
“Noona, what happened to Taekwoon hyung?” he asks me.
I try to stop crying and lift my head off of Wonsik’s chest. “He was hit by a car. The doctor said that he is in a coma caused by a head trauma. They said nothing else is wrong. Most people in his state would have other injuries, so we should be thankful.” I explain as best I can.
"How long will Taekwoon hyung be like this?” Wonsik asks.
“I don’t know. The doctors didn’t tell me.” I respond.

(That night)

Wonsik and Hongbin left a few hours ago. Now it’s only Taekwoon and I in the room. I paced around the room for about an hour and am now sitting holding Taekwoon’s hand. I already miss him. Even if he sometimes acts cold, I would rather have that over this.
It’s getting late. I should probably go home, but I can’t bear to leave him alone. I pull out my phone and call Sanghyuk.
“Hyukkie.” I say as soon as we are connected.
“Noona? How are you feeling? You don’t normally call me Hyukkie.”
“I’m fine. I just wanted to know if you got Mingook.”
“Of course I did. The little pipsqueak is sleeping on my lap right now.”
“Can you guys keep him at the dorm for a while?”
“Hakyeon hyung says we can keep him for as long as you want.”
“Thanks Hyuk. I really appreciate it.”
“No problem noona. Can we come see Taekwoon hyung tomorrow?”
“Sure, just make sure that Mingook doesn’t come. Tell him that eomma and appa are out of the country right now.”
Okay noona. See you tomorrow.”He says before hanging up.
I put my phone down and grab Taekwoon’s hand. I start to feel tired so I rest my head down next to him. Slowly, I feel myself drifting off to sleep, but I know I won't be dreaming tonight.
