The Accident
Taekwoon POV
It is Mingook's first day of kindergarten. I have to walk him there alone because Char has to go to work. She was supposed to have the day off, but her boss called and asked her to come in for a bit this morning.
"Bye Mingook. Have fun at school today." says Char as she hugs Mingook. She turns and gives me a kiss. "Bye Taekwoon, see you later."
Char grabs her bag and walks to the front door. As she opens it, she turns around and waves to us. Then she leaves and closes the door behind her.
“Ready to go Mingook?” I ask Mingook.
“Hmm.” He hums in response.
I pick up his backpack and help him put it on. Mingook grabs my hand and pulls me toward the door. As we walk towards the kindergarten, Mingook points out all the little animals that we see. He points out squirrels, birds, and any dogs that are on a walk. He stops to pet every dog that we pass. Luckily, we arrive at the kindergarten just on time.
“Hello sir, how are you this morning?” The teacher asks me.
“Good.” I mumble in response.
I let go of Mingook’s hand and he runs to the teacher.
“Have fun Mingook. Eomma and I will come back later.” I say to Mingook.
The teacher grabs his hand and they walk into the building together. I turn around and start walking home.
‘What am I going to do today. VIXX has a few days off and Char won’t be home till later.’ I think to myself as I walk.
Without realising it, I walk to the park near our apartment. I head to the swing set and sit on one of the swings. Slowly, I push myself on the swing, enjoying the weather. It is a beautiful day. The birds are singing and there is very little wind. It is sweater weather, Char’s favourite weather, not too hot and not too cold.
I sit and watch the world go by for around an hour. I feel my stomach growl so I get up and start walking home. Our home is only four block away from the park, so it will be a short walk. I start walking towards our house.
There are cars driving beside me on the road. We live in a cozy residential area, so they aren't going very fast. I think the speed limit is 25 mph. I watch them as they whiz by me.
Suddenly, I feel the breath knocked out of me and all I saw was the ground. I hear tires screeching and people screaming. I see a group of people crowding around me as I start to feel something warm on my head. I look down at my phone that is in my hand. I press the power button and the screen comes to life. Char’s picture is the last thing I see before the world go dark.
